Leslie Nielsen Dies

From complications of pneumonia. What a shame. He was a funny, funny man and a great actor. He will be greatly missed.

Airplane was definitely my favorite work of his, but the Naked Gun franchise started out pretty funny too. And he was also pretty creepy as the guy who buried his wife and her lover in the sand, then watched while the tide came in. Can't remember what movie that was, though.

He was definitely a multi-faceted actor.

Angela, the movie was called Creepshow. One of my favorites of his, because it was such a surprising role.

I'm gonna miss his funny ass.

I still remember him as the captain of the Poseidon on its last voyage. The look on his face when that big-ass wave hit the boat was priceless. Sad to see him go.

He's not dead, he's just holding his breath for a long time!

RIP, Detective Frank

That's totally it, Syn. Thanks! I might have to go find myself a copy, then double feature that with Airplane! as a little memorial movie viewing.

The first thing I ever saw him in was a TV broadcast of Forbidden Planet - still just an absolute classic - when I was reeeaaally young. That earnest image stuck to him for a long time, which was one of many reasons why it was so funny when he skewered it repeatedly in his comedy work. RIP, Cap'n.
