Sounds pretty dreadful to me, CB.

I didn't say it was inspired or even good.

It's just what they seem to be telegraphing.

Well, apparently Matt Roush saw the same thing coming I did...

Kel, they said it had been two weeks since Booth was killed. The 3 days thing came in when Angela was talking to Bones about going to the funeral and she said she'd been crying for the last 3 days prior to the day of the funeral. So he was two weeks healed (which still doesn't seem like enough time to be pounding on a perp, but...)

There is an interview with Eric Millegan on tvguide.com in which he states he was told about this storyline and that he would not be returning when they came back from the writers' strike. So, no, he did not want to leave. The producers wanted to shake things up in the cast and, I guess, they needed to get rid of the character of Zack to do it. He also wrote a note at the Fox.com forum saying thanks and goodbye.

I really believe Zack had to leave because Sweets came...I mean, come on, same old, same old...it's the exact same thing that happened to Dr. Goodman (God, I miss him SOOOO much)...

Goodman had to leave to make room for Cam...at least that's MHO...and though I found her absolutely annoying in the beginning (which may be caused by the fact that she had a thing with Booth in the past and AGAIN slept with him ), I got pretty adjusted to her over the time...

And yes, I'm aware that it takes two to tango (I could still kick Booth's ass for doing the horizontal mambo with Cam )

Some info regarding this that comes from the sides...---------It appears Zack had to go to make room for about a dozen "potentials" to replace him. They will be having a lab full of grad students vying to be Dr. Brennan's new assistant in the fall. Shades of BtVS "potentials" disaster springs to mind. Actually, it may be more along the lines of Murphy Brown's secretary - try one out, fire them, hire another, etc.--------

Actually, to me, that sounds like a play on the last two seasons of House. If done well, it could be interesting to see how someone with little social skills handles such a situation differently than a misanthrope did.

But then, that would be if it's done well. Which it won't be.

Makes me wonder if there's any House/Bones fic out there. A very difficult pairing to write effectively, me thinks.

That's what I thought, too, CB. But why rip off House? : sigh :

The only Bones/House fic I know is Tesla's. Can you access it via this link? If not, she's on LJ as Tesla321, and you can get it via her tag "crossover."

OMG, Hart Hanson has turned into Joss.

"We had gone pretty much as far as we could with that character. There’s an opportunity with that character to bring in a number of people. We’re not replacing him with a single character. We’re going have a bunch of people coming in and out and that gives us a bunch of opportunities in the lab for humor and stories."

Well- speaking only for myself-- I don't blame the writer's strike, but I do see it as a possible factor in this situation. I just feel like the the "plan" (stupid as it may have been) was possibly rushed because they had less episodes to cover it and/or wrap it up. It is complete conjecture and I certainly don't fault the writers for the situation.

ETA: I agree with Angels Cordy. Sweets totally took over the Zach place on the show. And I may be in the minority-- but I don't have a big problem with that. I don't like the way they did it, but I'm really not going to miss Zach all that much.

I'm not going to miss Zach all that much either, ophelia. I think you and I must be on the same wavelength of something.

To be honest, he's never interested me as much as the rest of the cast. It took a long time for me to warm up to Brennan, and she's a whole lot more human than Zach. The only times I really liked Zach were the times he was interacting with Hodgins. I can't say that Sweets is my favorite person ever or anything, but I do think he could make things a lot more interesting than what was basically a lesser version of Bones herself.

(Which is not to say I think he deserved the ending he got, because he didn't. I watched the ep again tonight just to make sure I didn't miss something. And I didn't--it was worse on second viewing than first.)

A few things bothered me.

I was ready for Zack being the apprentice when I saw he wasn't in the cast for next year, but his reasoning was totally lost on me, if it was even revealed.

The Gormagon was supposed to be this big bad, but when it came down to it, he was nothing and nobody.

He was supposed to be smart, but he didn't even have alarms set in his house.

And they took him down way too easy. It was anti-climactic.

What's with the FBI psychiatrist giving the press conference. They have people to do that.
And speaking of Sweets, if he operates in the same capacity as in the final, he is going to become...irritating. He's good...in small doses

I guess that's what has me scratching my head. I love procedural shows, most of what I watch are crime shows (Criminal Minds, Without a Trace, CSI, the L&O franchise), I also watch House and Supernatural. BSG and Heroes are the only 2 shows I watch that actually have season/series long arcs.

So, I'm sitting here going it's a procedural; why even bother wrapping up the Gorgomon(Sp?) storyline in the abreviated season? Just tell a couple of really good standalone stories and wrap up the Gorgomon (or whatever he was called) storyline during Oct. sweeps.

But really what do I know, I've only watched a handful of Bones episodes and never really took to the show.

Ha...I was right....

From the TVGuide.com interview with Hart Hanson:

"TVGuide.com: Anything else you want to say about the finale and Eric's status with the show moving forward?
Eric was a consummate pro about it, and he hated keeping it a secret. He was really worried that his fans would turn against him. But we have not seen the last of him. He won't be in every episode, but Zack has certain talents we can use in a "Hannibal Lecter" kind of way. We can go visit him and he can look at stuff. If my voice sounds light right now, it's because the decision was not made lightly. But we've got to do what we've got to do.

I was just about to bring that over, CB. The idea of Zack as a Hannibel Lecter type character is giving me the willies. Ugh.

Yeah. They screwed it all up, so now the best they can do is pretend it never happened and move on with ripping off House.
