I've investigated the smiley problem before, and it seems that vBulletin just isn't 100 percent functional except in Exploder for Windoze. The workaround is to click the "More" text link in the smiley selection box, copy the text markup for the smiley you want, and paste it into your message. Not the most convenient thing, I know, but marginally better than nothing.

As for the navbar, try making sure you've enabled both JavaScript and popups. You can enable only popups for this forum by putting the base URL into the Popups box in your Preferences.

If all else fails, DL a new version of Firefox and see if that helps.
