ANGEL SEASON 4 EPISODE 1 "Awakening"

ANGLE ON

A woman, mid 20's. She is running down a street and she looks scared.

WOMAN
Help me, help me please.

We see a figure is chasing her. We don't see who it is.

WOMAN
He's going to kill me.

The woman turns the street.

GUNN(OS)
You damn right I'm going to kill you.

The woman is on the ground crawling away.

WOMAN
Please, oh god somebody help me.

GUNN
No use screaming. Nobody can hear you out here.

WOMAN
Alright then.

WE see the woman's face VAMPS.

WOMAN
If your not going to treat me like a lady, then treat me like a bitch.

GUNN and the woman stand up, squaring face to face. The Vamp strikes going at Gunn. Gunn blocks, punching her. The Vamp spins and kicks him. Gunn is hurt by this, but continues taking a swing and missing the Vamp, kicks him in the stomach and he fall to the ground.

FRED(OS)
Jesus, I'll do it.

Fred comes form behind and stakes the Vamp easily. Gunn looks up.

GUNN
That's my girl. Thanks for the assist.

FRED
No problem. It's kinda fun getting to be all superhero-y.

GUNN
Yeah it is, as long as your careful.

FRED
You know I am.

Gunn is now on his feet and he and Fred are walking away.

GUNN
So did you pack your stuff?

FRED
(sadly)
Yeah.

GUNN
What's wrong baby? I thought you'd be excited.

FRED
I am, I am, It's just...

GUNN
Saying goodbye to the hotel.

FRED
I know it's stupid. It's not like I'm saying goodbye to a home. But I am. I mean out of all the places I lived in the past Five years that was my favourite one.

Gunn smiles at this.

FRED
It's just, what are we gonna do when Angel and Connor comes back? Huh?

GUNN
If.

This stops Fred in her tracks.

GUNN
If they come back Fred.

Beat.

FRED
When they come back! They;ll be mad that we sold their home and their place of business.

GUNN
We'll it's not like we had much of a choice. People ain't calling Fred.

FRED
I know, I mean God is it selfish to want a horrible demon to arise and threatening everyone I love? Is that just too much to ask? What about the mission?

GUNN
What do you think we've been doing Fred?

FRED
Honestly. I think we've been kidding ourselves. We can't do this alone Charles. Instead of going out every night and hunting demons, we should be trying to find Angel and Cordy and Connor.

GUNN
(loudly)
And what if they can't be found!

The Tone and Loudness of Gunn's voice scares Fred.

GUNN
What if their.....
(struggling to say it)
What if their...

Fred puts her hand on Gunns cheek and he lowers his head.

FRED
Their not. They can't be.

Fred and Gunn just look at each other sadly.

An axe flies across the screen. It misses a dummie in the middle of the room. Cordelia has thrown it with her hand.

SKIP
A suck shot.

CORDELIA
Gee, Skip. I'm so sorry that my High School ciriculum didn't include axe throwing 101.

SKIP
(not realising it's a joke)
Your forgiven. Now, Relax, deep breath. Just be calm, and at one with nature and impale the guy already.

CORDELIA
Fine.

Cordelia picks the axe up using telekinesis and throws it at the dummy. It hits him in the chest.

SKIP
That's cheating.

CORDELIA
Ya think.

SKIP
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you volunteer for this. No one forced you.

CORDELIA
I Know.

SKIP
So why are you so angry.

CORDELIA
I'm not angry.
(off Skips look)

Cordelia stops herself, alittle in pain.

SKIP
I know. You chose the right choice Cordelia, but that doesn't make the decision any easier, does it?

CORDELIA
I just wish I could Know they were all safe. That they're all Ok.

SKIP
They are. I promise you, they are.

CUT TO:

EXT. BOTTOM OF OCEAN

Angel remains in his box. His eyes are open, but he doesn't blink. He just stare blankly at what's in front of him.

CUT TO:

INT. WOLFRAM AND HART

LINWOOD
Lilah, any news?

LILAH
none sir. I promise you I will report to you first thing.

LINWOOD
You better. Three months Lilah. Three months and we still haven't found him.

LILAH
Maybe because there;s nothing to be found.

LINWOOD
That's an interesting choice of words Lilah. You do know Wolfram and Harts policy on killing Angel. If I find out you had anything to do with it....

LILAH
Sir please, that;s not what I meant.

LINWOOD
Oh?

LILAH
What I meant was, Angel's gone, his son's gone. There could be a chance the kid...

LINWOOD

LINWOOD
He can't be dead, the Senior Partners will...

LILAH

LINWOOD
The other thing I wanted to talk to you about. Price, how's that going?

LILAH

CUT TO:

INT. WESLEY'S BEDROOM-NIGHT

Wesley and Lilah lie under the bed covers, they've just 'done it'.

LILAH
Oh yeah, my job rocks.

WESLEY
What?

LILAH
Nothing. We'll Price, you certainly know how to get the job done. With overtime.

WESLEY
Do you have to talk?

LILAH
Oh, where's the love?

Wesley just gives her a look.

LILAH
So Wes, the dole line still working for you or are you ready to come work for us?

WESLEY

LILAH
Full medical, dental, 401(k) package.

WESLEY
I'm not....

LILAH
What? Your not like me? You couldn't do the things I do, without having a moral crisis. Listen up Wes old boy. Your not like me, you are me.

WESLEY
No I'm not. I could never be like you.

LILAH
You were prepared to steal Angel's child and take it away forever. To rob him of the only child he ever had.

WESLEY
I did that trying to do good.

LILAH
Let me tell you the truth of the world. Everyone from the child who steals a penny sweet to Stallin started off with Good Intentions. But something happens along the way, they change, they grow, they turn into right bastards.

Wesley doesn't answer. He just stares at the wall.

CUT TO:

INT. ANGEL INVESTIGATION HOTEL.

Fred and Gunn enter. Fred is upbeat and rushes to the phone, Gunn isn't so happy. We see Fred has run over to the answering machine. She presses it. The Computer voice clicks on.

COMPUTER VOICE
You have No New messages.

The smile on Fred's face drops as Gunn looks on sympathetically.

CUT TO:

EXT. GRAVEYARD-NIGHT

The Night is quiet, there doesn't seen to be anyone around until a VAMPIRE is thrown on screen. The Vampire looks scared. We see why. Behind him is CONNOR

VAMPIRE
Please, don't.

Connor stare at him in disgust. He runs over to the Vamp, grabs the Vampires arm, and pulls it, a 'crack' is heard.

JUSTINE
Come on Stephen Just kill him already.

Connor grabs the Vamp and throw him on the ground. He runs at the Vamp then full force, jams the stake right through the Vampires Heart. The Vampire turns to dust.

JUSTINE
Now, I've got nothing against Human, Vampire violence, But was that completly neccesary?

CONNOR
What? I killed a Vampire. I move on.

JUSTINE
No that wasn't killing a Vampire. That was, That was. I don't what that was.

CONNOR
That is what my father taught me. Their animals Justine. They don't have feelings.

CUT TO:


EXT. BOTTOM OF OCEAN

Angel remains. He stares at the world around. his face is erily still.


INT. ANGEL INVESTIGATION HOTEL

The phone rings. Fred rushes over to answer it.

FRED
Angel Investigations, We help the Helpless. How can we help you?
(listening to the other end)
Yes, we did get the notice and we are going to pay it's just.....
(listening)
I get that. I do. We just have a cash flow problem right now. But we should have the money as soon as we sell some things.
(listening)
Okay, a week. Thank you. That's most kind.

Fred hangs up. Gunns been listening.

FRED

GUNN
Don't tell me. Don't tell me. The gas.

Fred nods 'no'

GUNN

Fred laughs slightly a this.

It was the electricity.

GUNN

They were angry we didn't respond to their last notice.

So? We didn't respond to the first Three.

FRED
Gunn.

GUNN
Look It;s okay.

FRED
How is it Okay?

GUNN
As soon as we sell the hotel, all the bills will be paid.

FRED
That's suppost to make me feel better.

GUNN
Look, I know you don't like this, but we have no choice. Besides, what are we suppost to do with this huge hotel, huh?

FRED
It;s not just a huge hotel. It's home.

Fred and Gunn look around, depressed.

CUT TO:

EXT. DUMES POINT/BEACH

CONNOR stand on the beach. He's looking around alittle scared. He doesn't know why he's there.

The sound of the Sea suddenly becomes very loud. Connor turns around to find the sea is carrying something. It's

THE BOX

Connor watches it wash up on the shore. He's cautious. He walks over slowly and looks through the slips. He doesn't see anything. He rips the lid off with Great intensity.

He looks down to see THE BOX IS EMPTY.

A hand grabs him from behind. It;s Angel, and he has his Vamp face on.

ANGEL
You were expecting someone?

Angel buries his teeth in Connors neck and starts to drink. Connor feebliy fights when

INT. CONNOR'S BEDROOM-NIGHT

Connor wakes up. He doesn;t scream, but he is afraid, and very freaked out.

CUT TO:

INT. HIGHER REALMS

Cordelia is currently glowing, high in the air. Her eyes are closed and the light is extremely bright. It looks like something important.

SKIP
Okay Time to wake up.

Cordelia's eyes shoot open in shock. She loses her concentration and falls to the ground.

CORDELIA
Jes' Skip. I really like this ass. I'd hate to break it and have to buy another.

SKIP
It's time to train.

CORDELIA
It's always time to train. When is it time to sleep in?

SKIP
You ready?

Cordelia grunts then follows SKIP into another room.

SKIP
Okay, you awake?

CORDELIA
(yawning)
I'm good.

Skip jumps at her, trying to attack her. Cordelia kicks him, punches him, then grabs his arm and spins him in the air causing him to fall.

Skip gets back up and grabs a sword. For a minute, his look makes it suggest this is no longer training.

Skip throws the sword to Cordelia then grabs another one for himself. They go at it. The swords clink off each other and they are going so fast it's hard to desinguishe one sword from the other.

Cordelia kicks Skip in the shin, he kneels down and Cordy spins then holds the sword to his throat.

CORDELIA
A little trick Angel taught me.

SKIP
(rubbing his leg)
Yeah, we'll good trick.

CUT TO:

INT. WOLFRAM AND HART BOARDROOM

A meeting is currently taking place. We see LINWOOD, GAVIN, LILAH and WESLEY. They are all sitting around the table except Linwood, who is standing up in mid-speech.

LINWOOD
...and let me say that the Senior Partners are very please with the addition of Mr Wyndom Price. I think Ms. Morgan there better watch her back with this one.

GAVIN
(lowly)
Her back isn't what she should be worrying about.

Lilah glares at him. She caught that.

LINWOOD
We'll I think that's us for the day Ladies and Gentleman.

Everyone starts to dispatch. Lilah sets her sight on Wesley.

LILAH
Hey Wes, Where do you think your going?

WESLEY
Lunch.

LILAH
I'll join you.

WESLEY
You could do that but I have this desire to keep my lunch down.

LILAH
(like a cat)
meoww. Down boy. You see, My office is all empty and I brought lunch with me.

Lilah leaves Wesley with that thought. She walks and enters her office. Wesley starts to walk for the canteen. He's at a crossroad. He can either go to the canteen or go to Lilah's office.

He walks over, enters and closes the door of Lilah's office.

CUT TO:

EXT. ABANDONED BUILDING-NIGHT

Justine and Connor look up at the sight in front of them.

CONNOR
You sure?

JUSTINE
Definetily. Nest. You up for it?

CONNOR
You know I am.

JUSTINE
Let's go.

They both make their way. Justine kicks down the door.

INT. ABANDONED BUILDING.

Justine and Connor cautiously start to walk in.

JUSTINE
Stephen, be careful, with these old buildings, it's not very stable.

They continue to walk.

CONNOR
Where do you suppose there hiding?

A noise is heard upstairs.

JUSTINE
Bathroom.

Connor and Justine make their way to the old decayed staircase. They start making their way up. Connor holds on to the staircase. It falls from under him. Justine grabs him to make sure he doesn't fall.

JUSTINE
What did I tell you? Well done Stephen. Now they know were here.

CONNOR
Sorry.

JUSTINE
It's fine, we just have to do this quick and fast so they don't have time to escape. Come on.

Justine and Connor make their way up the stairs and into

INT. BATHROOM

They look around. The bathtub is filled with water and is still filling. It is near the top. They look at the figure clutching to the toilet. It's a Vampire, but he looks like he's decaying. All his bones can be seen. It's an awful sight.

JUSTINE
Okay, kill him.

CONNOR
What?

JUSTINE
Kill him.

CONNOR
But he can barely stand. He's not really a threat.

JUSTINE
When are you going to get this Stephen. Killing Vampires isn't about Protecting. It's about Vengance. It's about releasing the souls of all the people he killed. He didn't show pity on them, so why should we show pity on him.

Just as Justine finishes Connor has already made his way over and plunges the stake into the Vampire. The Vampire screams then turns
to dust.

JUSTINE
That's my boy.

The water from the bathtub starts to overflow. Connor watches the water pass his feet.

CUT TO:

INT. DUME'S POINT-BEACH

The water that had past Connors feet is now water coming from the Sea. Connor looks up, he's back again. He looks at the box lying on the beach. He know not to go near it.

ANGEL(OS)
What's the matter son?

Connor spins around to find Angel a few feet away walking towards him.

ANGEL
You look like you've seen a ghost.

CONNOR
(a little scared)
You. You stay away from me.

ANGEL
Oh I can't do that, you see, I'm always with you. Everywhere you go I'll always be there.
(whispers into Connors ear)
I'm always right behind you.

Connor spins around to find NOTHING THERE.

ANGEL(OS)
(from behind)
Truth is...

Connor spins around again and finds Angel a few feet away again.

ANGEL
I'll always be there. You see, by killing me, you've kept me alive forever. I'll be with you until the day you die I anddrag you down to hell with me.

Connor has a pale look on his face

ANGEL
Bye son.

Connor looks up.

ANGEL
(waving bye)
Gotta go.

Connor continues watching until Angel disappears and he

INT. ABANDONED BUILDING BATHROOM

Connor wakes up from the trance he was in. He looks around and sees the muddy water at his feet.

JUSTINE
Are you sure your okay?

CONNOR
What?

JUSTINE
You are so weird. Let's go.

Justine leaves. Connor is about to go when he looks in the tub and sees

ANGEL waving bye bye to him from under the water.

CONNOR
(screaming)
Leave me alone! Your not real!!!

Connor runs from the bathroom. THE CAMERA FOCUSES on the BATHTUB to show there is NOTHING THERE.

CUT TO:

INT. ANGEL INVESTIGATIONS/LOBBY

GUNN stands waiting for Fred. She holds a box in her hand.

GUNN
So is that the last one?

FRED
(sadly)
Yeah. The Last one.

GUNN
So we're agreed. After Tommorow?

FRED
After Tommorow, we officially put the hotel on the market.

GUNN
Did you call Lorne?

FRED
Yeah.

GUNN
And?

FRED
And he's naturally upset and start crying. We smeared his eyeliner.

GUNN
We'll at least that proves he cares. We should go.

FRED
Yeah. So how come I can't?

CUT TO:

INT. HIGHER REALMS

SKIP
It's time? As in time, time? You think she' s ready.

HIGHER POWER
She is. The destroyer is planning on returning to LA. This is our only chance to stop him. He is planning on killing Angel. If he gets to that box before we do, he will do just so, and all we have worked for will be destroyed. She is the only one who can stop him now.

SKIP enter Cordy's room

CORDELIA
Hey Skip, how;s my favourite demon guide?

SKIP
Very afraid.

CORDELIA
Why?

SKIP
You have to come with me Cordelia Chase.

CORDELIA
Go with you? Where?

SKIP
Where you belong!

CUT TO:

EXT. FREEWAY

It is the same one from 'Tommorow'. In fact, It's the same scene from the Episode. Time is frozen and Cordelia spots something.

CORDELIA
Hey my jeep. I was wondering what happened
to that.

SKIP
We'll this is where it happened.

CORDELIA
uh-huh. This is where I became a higher being. Loving the sound of that by the way Higher being.

SKIP
This is where they screwed up.

CORDELIA
Higher what? Who screwed up?

SKIP
The Powers.

CORDELIA
The powers screwed up? I thought that was impossible.

SKIP
It is.

Long beat.

SKIP
The powers know everything and see everything. Except whats in a persons heart.

CORDELIA
I told you what was in my heart, and you sent me anyway.

SKIP
Not yours. Connors.

CORDELIA
And what's in Connors heart?

SKIP
Hate. Blackness. Emptiness.

Skip climbs in the Jeep.

SKIP
Jump in.

CORDELIA
What?

SKIP
Get in.

CORDELIA
You know how to drive?

SKIP
Doesn't look that hard.

Cordelia makes her way around the jeep to the driver;s entrance.

CORDELIA
Slide over.

Cordelia starts the car.

CORDELIA
Where we going?

SKIP
Dumes Point.

Cordelia looks straight at Skip, afraid of why. The car starts and makes it's way through the freeway.

EXT. DUMES POINT

Cordelia pulls up in the Jeep and exits with Skip. They see Angel standing there.

CORDELIA
Angel, Ang...
(stops herself)
He can't hear me can he?

SKIP
Nope.

CORDELIA
Dammit. We'll at least I'm not dying this time.
(beat)
I'm not, right?

SKIP
Your not dying. Your observing.

CORDELIA
Observing what?

SKIP
What happened that night. Now over hear we have Angel

Skip pulls out a retractical metal pointer. He points it at Angel. We see Angel standing.

SKIP
Looking as sharp as ever. Now, at this point,
(points the pointer at Cordy)
you would have shown up, gone over to him, told him you loved him and everything would have been peachy except for exhibit C.

CORDELIA
Gimme that.

Cordelia grabs the pointer, breaks it in half, and looks over at where Skip was pointing.

SKIP
(looking at the ground sadly)
She broke my pointer.

CORDELIA
Skip.

SKIP
I suppose you want to narrate too. Good luck without a pointer.

CORDELIA
(harsher)
Skip!!!

SKIP
Ok. Now, you see if you had been here, then Exhibit C.

Cordelia sees who Exhibit C is.

CORDELIA
Connor.

SKIP
Uh-huh, we'll Exhibit...
(off Cordelia's look)
Connor, we'll the powers saw that coming.

CORDELIA
So why didn't they stop it?

SKIP
Because they couldn't risk you.

Beat.

CORDELIA
What?

SKIP
You see Cordelia, the only way they could have saved Angel would have been to send you. Now, don't take this wrongly, but you just weren't powerful enough to stop him. If you had shown up, not all of you were coming out alive. And your all too important to the powers to lose.

Cordelia is momentarly touched. Then she realises they've lost Angel.

CORDELIA
Where's Angel?

SKIP
(looking around)
Uhhh....on the beach.

CORDELIA
On the? Oh God!

Cordelia looks down and sees Connor and Angel going at it. We hear slight cheering in the background.

SKIP
(like a boxing fan)
Come on Angel, you can take him, no no, duck, oh that looked painful. Come on, My God, you call yourself a champion.
(to Cordy)
Give you good odds on Angel.
(off her look)
No? Ok.

ANGEL
(Old footage)
Your gonna Talk to me.

Connor stabs him with the knife, then the Tazer.

CORDELIA
Oh God, oh my, I have to help him. Skip, send me into action.

SKIP
Sorry Sweetness, but this isn't actually happening right now. It's more of a replay.

Connor signal;s for the boat.

CORDELIA
Who's in the boat?

The boat pulls up and we see JUSTINE is in it.

SKIP
Justine.

CORDELIA
Oh. Who?

SKIP
Justine! You don't know who Justine is?

CORDELIA
I remember the name, It's coming to me, I've got it, I haven't got a clue what your talking about.

SKIP
Holtz groupie.

CORDELIA
The Slutty One?

SKIP
Uh-huh.

CORDELIA
Ding! We have a winner Bob. So what's she doing?

Cordelia watches then knows what there doing. We don;t but from the look of Cordelia's face, we can guess.

EXT. BEACH--LATER

SKIP stands in one spot, watching Cordelia who is pacing around, frantic.

SKIP
Your not gonna get past this, are you?

CORDELIA
They threw him in the ocean, They threw him in the ocean.....

SKIP
They really did.

CORDELIA
They threw him in the ocean.

SKIP
So what are you gonna do about it?

CORDELIA and SKIP look at each other as the SCREEN FADES.

INT. HIGHER REALMS

SKIP
This is insane. You can't do this.

CORDELIA
Why didn't you tell me? Who could you not?

SKIP
You see I meant to tell you. It was on my list and....

CORDELIA
You sent me up here, Angel is down there and you didn't tell me for Three months

SKIP
That's right Cordelia just let it out.

CORDELIA
You sir are useless.

SKIP
Hey, hey, hey. Let's not go saying something we can't take back.

CORDELIA
Send me back.

SKIP
What?

CORDELIA
Send me back down.

SKIP
We'll you see, umm I would, I mean I don't have a problem with you ehh doing that, but the powers, the power you see would........

CORDELIA
Skip.

SKIP
The powers want you here Cordelia. Where you're protected and safe.

CORDELIA
The Powers just loaded me up like a swiss army knife. It's time to see what I'm made of. I can't just leave him down there.

SKIP
If the powers wanted you on earth they would have sent you.

CORDELIA
And if I wanted your opinion I would have asked for it.

Quite Frankly ouch.

SKIP
(sourly)
Fine, I send you back down, and then what? He's in a metal box at the bottom of the ocean. What are you gonna do?

CORDELIA
Whatever I have to. I'll use my powers.

SKIP
Oh I'm sorry, I didn't know one of your powers was the ability to drain the sea.

CORDELIA
I'll figure out something.

SKIP
You'll figure out nothing!

There is a long pause. Almost like a showdown. Then.

SKIP
We'll, figure out something.

Cordy kisses him.

SKIP
Lord help me there gonna have my ass for this.

CORDELIA
Okay Skipper, we're off.

Cordy and skip stand side by side.

CORDELIA
Skip. I don't know what to do?

Skip rolls his eyes.

SKIP
Take my hand.

Cordelia takes his hand and they disappear to

INT. HOTEL

GUNN
You just have to face it. We're on our own now. No-one's coming to help us.

CORDELIA and SKIP both materialise in the Hotel.

CORDELIA
I feel all tingly.

FRED
Cordelia?

CORDELIA
Fred.

Cordelia and Fred embrace each other.

SKIP
Wow, we actually made it.

CORDELIA
What?

SKIP
(lowering voice)
We'll there was a small, tiny chance we would dis-materialise but it's all good.

FRED
Your back? Your actually back. I told you, what did I tell you.

Fred is starting to cry

GUNN
You said we'd find them Fred

SKIP
We'll technically we found you,
(off Gunns look)
But the important thing is were back.

FRED
(clinging to Cordy)
I knew you'd come back. You wouldn't leave us. Everything's been bad and horrible but it's okay now, your back, and everythings going to be okay now.

CORDELIA
It's okay Fred.

Cordelia stare down at Fred smiling, who still hasn't released her grip.

CORDELIA
What Gunn, no hug?

GUNN
I think Fred's doing the hugging for both of us.

FRED
Oh, I'm sorry. It's just, I'm glad your back.

CORDELIA
And I'm glad to be back.

GUNN
We were worried you were, dead or, gone. Where did you go?

CORDELIA
It's a long story.

GUNN
(crossing arms, alittle hostile)
One I'd like to hear.

FRED
Gunn.

GUNN
No, no Fred. She just packs up and disappears for a few months, I'd like an explanation.

SKIP
The powers, sent for her.

GUNN
And you are?

SKIP
Skip.
(holds his hand out
Gunn doesn't respond)
Someone must have rolled out of the wrong side of the bed this morning.

CORDELIA
And must have hurt his ass on the fall. Gunn, I don't have time, we have to save Angel.

FRED
(brightly)
Angel? You found Angel?

CORDELIA
We did Fred.

Skip lowers his head in shame. Cordy catches this.

CORDELIA
(to skip)
That's right you should feel ashamed. You just keep your head down.

GUNN
So were gonna go get him, right?

CORDELIA

GUNN, FRED and CORDY are searching

FRED
Where's Skip.

CORDELIA
He said the powers called him. It was like uber-important. So we're on our own gang.

GUNN
How are we suppost to find him. He's at the bottom of the sea.

CORDELIA
I don't know. We need a boat. We should get a boat.

FRED
Or a scuba suit.

CORDELIA
Couldn't hurt. I mean we only have a million mile of square ocean to cover and who knows how many metres deep.

FRED
That's right, we can find him. We'll find him.
(to Gunn)

GUNN
Of course we will baby. Why couldn't the powers do this?

CORDELIA
Skip said something about the powers having no control over human actions.

GUNN
So why didn't they send you down?

This stumps Cordy. Even she doesn't have the answer. Cordy starts to sense something isn't right.

CORDELIA
Who are we kidding. We'll never find him out there.
(sadly)
He's gone, he's...........

CORDELIA pauses. She just got an idea.

GUNN
What is it?

FRED
Cordelia?

Cordelia starts walking up the beach. Gunn and Fred just watch as Cordy's voice is getting louder.

CORDELIA
Skip! Get your ass down here NOW,

A Lightning type light hits and Skip appears.

SKIP
God I heard you girl. Actually the whole room heard. What is it?

CORDELIA
I want Angel back.

SKIP
I thought we already went through this. The powers can't. You think they want there champion at the bottom of the sea.

CORDELIA
He's out ther skip. He's down there and he's alone and hungry and heartbroken. Now, show me where he is.

SKIP
No.

CORDELIA
No? How can the powers possibly think it's okay to leave him down there. How could they let it happen in the first place.

SKIP
God Cordelia, alway's with the question, never in the background are ya. Always centre stage. The powers had a good reason for letting this happen.That's why they sent me down to keep you out of the way.

CORDELIA
Out of the.....? Why?

SKIP
Two words. The Destroyer!

GUNN
The Destroyer?

FRED
The powers were worried that Connor was going to kill Angel.

CORDELIA
(getting it)
No, they were worried Angel was going to kill Connor.

SKIP

Skip puts his hand up to Cordy's cheek

SKIP
Unless he was trying to protect someone More important. The powers, they're afraid Him being down there, the betrayal the pain, the hunger They don't' know what he'll be like, what he'll Resort to.

CORDELIA
Angelus?

SKIP
They don't know which is down there.

CORDELIA
I don't care. Show me where he is.

SKIP
Cordelia, don't do this. Your too important to the powers too lose

CORDELIA
You don't get me without him. We're a package.

Cordelia just looks at him.

SKIP
Okay. Close your eyes.

CORDELIA

SKIP

Skip motions for her to do so. Cordy decides not to argue.

FRED
How is this helping?

Cordelia stands on the beach, eyes closed. She starts to glow slightly, it starts becoming brighter and raises into the air. Cordelia looks up to see a ring of white light is now above her head.

Cordelia stands back as she, Gunn and Fred stare at the sight in front of them.

FRED
Oh.

The ring starts moving out towards the ocean, gliding across the ocean until it reaches the spot Angel was thrown in. The water starts to bubble.

ANGLE

At the bottom of the ocean the box is starting to shake.

ANGLE ON

ANGELS FACE his eyes are wide open, not knowing what is happening to him. The box lifts up and bobs along the ocean, the tide pushing it closer and closer to them.

The Box lands on the beach. The Gang start to slowly approach it.

SKIP
Careful. Don't get to close. We don't what's in there.

Gunn pushes Fred back as he and Cordy walk towards the box. Cordy stares through the plate of the box. Angel's face is perfectly calm.

CORDELIA
He's okay. He's Angel.

Gunn walks over and tries to pull the metal bars out.

GUNN
I can't, oww.

FRED
Can't you just

Fred makes a hand movement that suggest he slides it out easily.

GUNN
Not so much Fred.

CORDELIA
Lucky for us we have a supernatural Locksmith, Skip, if you please
.
Skip moves over to the box and slides the bar out easily.

GUNN
We'll if your just plain gonna cheat...

The box opens up, the gang walk over to the box to see whats inside.

ANGEL'S P.O.V.

Angel doesn't move. his breathing is heavy and his eyes dart all over the place.

CORDELIA (OS)
Angel.

The sound of Cordelia's voice echos alittle. Angel's breathing is slowly getting lighter.

CORDELIA (OS)
Angel, it's me Cordelia. Do you think he understands me. Angel if you can here me it's going to be okay, it's all going to be...

GUNN
Okay.

We see now from Angel's P.O.V. that Gunn is now standing over Angel's box looking down at him.

Angel grabs Gunn suddenly, jumping up at the speed of light. Gunn jumps back, this suprised him.

GUNN
It's okay. it's us. It's your....

Before Gunn can finish Angel rushes at him, punching him. Gunn fights back,punching him then kicking him in the stomach. Angel punches him hard.
It causes him to spin around, his back to Angel.

Angel pulls Gunn to him, sinking his teeth and starts to drink.

FRED (OS)
Charles.

Angel continues to drink as FRED jumps on his back. This stops him, more of an annoyance than anything else. Angel throws Fred away. He release Gunn. Gunn falls to the ground, unconcious.

ANGEL'S P.O.V.

Fred is on the ground and is starting to crawl away scared. She is so scared she can't seem to stand up straight. Angel has no patience. He runs at Fred, grabs her and pulls her up, he is about to sink his teeth in when...

CORDELIA
Hey, Angelus, remember me.

ANGEL
Cordelia.

CORDELIA
No. Angel you can't....your good. Angel.

ANGEL
I'm sorry Angel doesn't live here anymore.

CORDELIA
Skip is he evil or insane?

SKIP
Both.

CORDELIA
Skip, Psychotic Angel or scary ass Angelus gimme something.

SKIP
We'll he didn't get any down there, and I doubt he achieved perfect happiness with a Seabass.

CORDELIA
We'll thanks for that image Skip.

ANGEL
Cordy, I've missed you, I....did you change your hair again?

CORDELIA
Angel, somethings wrong with you, you just have to....... What's wrong with my hair?

ANGEL
I'm gonna enjoy this. I've always said there's no blood sweeter than family

CORDELIA
(to skip)
You like it right?

SKIP
Oh yeah, it's daring yet casual.

ANGEL
I'm gonna.....

CORDELIA
Are you sure it's okay

SKIP
Cordelia, lunatic Vampire on the loose.

CORDELIA

Angel keeps getting closer. Cordelia is getting scared

CORDELIA
Angel, you just have to relax, maybe take some Valium. Skip, little help. What am I suppost to do?

SKIP
I think this is a good time for Ms. demon workover to try out her new powers.

CORDELIA
Are you kidding me. I can hardly control them as it is.

SKIP
Not much choice Cordelia. It's not like I can fight him. Already been down that road.

CORDELIA
Oh yeah, released that Billy guy. Thanks for that by the way.
(Cordelia hits him)

SKIP

Angel is getting closer. He's almost at them.

CORDELIA
(to Angel)

Cordelia waves her hand and through telekenisis throws Angel across the beach.

CORDELIA
Skip I can't do this. He's going to kill me.

SKIP
How do you know that?

CORDELIA
Because he loves me.

There is a bitter sadness in that last line. There is an awkward beat.

SKIP
You can do this and you know why?

CORDELIA
Why?

SKIP
Because your Cordelia Chase!

Cordelia doesn't answer. Cordelia turns around and stares at Angel. He still on the ground but is getting up.

He stands up and we have a showdown. Angel stands on one side of the beach, his fangs bared and ready. Cordy stands on the other, nervous but ready to do what she must.

Angel runs at Cordy, Cordy moves, dodging him. Angel falls to the ground. Cordy gets poised for another attack. Angel charges and again falls to the ground. Cordy kicks him in the face. He swings at her and she backflips out of the way.

Skip looks at her, suprised.

CORDELIA
Thats what three years Varsity cheerleading will do for ya.

Angel comes at her again. Cordelia uses her telekinesis and picks him up in the air. He struggles but can't get down. He is now suspended in the air.

CORDELIA
Please forgive me.

With that Cordelia throws Angel against the rocky cliff behind them. Angel hits it hard. He falls to the ground, not moving. Cordelia walks over to him and stares down sadly. She is joined at her sides by Skip and Fred.

SKIP
Told you it be easy.

Cordy and Fred just look at him.

CORDELIA
Skip, could ya?

SKIP
Already on it.

Skip grabs Angel and they disappear.

FRED
Where did he take him?

CORDELIA
To the hotel. Come on, lets get Gunn.

PULL AWAY as Cordy and Fred walk down the beach to Gunn. There voices are small and far away.

FRED
You were great.

CORDELIA
Really?

FRED
Yeah, I loved the back flip.

Cordelia laughs.

CORDELIA
Yeah that was pretty cool.

FRED
Welcome back Cordy.

We see them hug in the distance and we switch to:

INT. HOTEL--LATER

Cordy, Gunn, Fred and SKIP stand in the lobby.

CORDELIA
Hotel, oh so sweet, hotel.

FRED
What are we gonna do with him.

We pull back to reveal to see Angel is locked in a cage

CORDELIA
I don't know. It's so sad we had a cage onhand.

GUNN
So that was Angelus huh?

CORDELIA
No. That was something else.

The hostility hangs in the air.

CORDELIA
That was something else entirely.

CUT TO:

EXT. BEACH-NIGHT

The beach is empty. We see the box laying alone in the sand. It is the onlything around. We see a figure reach the box.

It's CONNOR

He looks down at the empty box.

CONNOR
Angelus!
