Cordelia was so engrossed in the book she was reading that was hidden by the demonology book she was 'supposed' to be reading. She snuck glances at the other people in the room to see if they had noticed. They hadn't.

Buffy was whispering with Willow opposite her, Xander was ogling Buffy and Giles was in his office.

'Good, they haven't noticed' Cordelia thought and continued to read her horror novel.

"We're going to get some food, want anything Cordy?" Buffy asked as she stood up.

"No, I'm good" Cordelia replied without looking up.

"Ok, Xan you coming?" Willow asked her best friend hopefully.

"Sure, taking a walk with my two favourite ladies what more can I guy ask for?" Xander grinned sheepishly.

"A personality maybe?" Cordelia quippped easily, Buffy and Willow smiled at the banter between her and Xander.

"This coming from the woman who doesn't have one?" Xander shot back.

"I do, I just don't waste it on the likes of you" came her reply with a wink.

The three friends left the library, leaving Cordelia with her book.

"The young girl's heart was pounding through her chest as she reached out with a shaky hand to pick up the blood stained knife. The knife which she had witnessed being plunged, over and over, into her boyfriend's chest. She was alone now, nobody knew they were here and now she was all alone."

Cordelia got lost in the story...

"Eyes bright with fear, shaking limbs and the only sound she could hear was the blood rushing through her ears. A deafening sound. A sound so loud she was sure the killer could hear it. Jenna pressed her back against the wall as she moved down the corridor, silent tears running down her face. Would she live to tell the tale? Jenna didn't want to think, all she wanted to do was reach the door at the end of the hallway"

Cordelia could picture the scene in her mind except Jenna was her and she was the one quaking in fear holding a blood stained knife.

As Angel got closer to the library, the smell of fear was getting stronger so he walked stealthily to the door, every sense on high alert. Somebody's heart was beginning beat rapidly and their breathing was speeding up.

"Cordelia bit her lip to stop from collapsing on the floor and giving up. Behind the door would be safety. Or death. At this stage, she would welcome death. Her long, dark hair was sticking to her face with sweat and she was tired. Tired of running and tired of being scared to death. Her trembling hand reached for the door knob and she turned it slowly.

'Please, please let me be ok' Cordelia silently prayed to every God as the creaking handle turned and she pushed the door open to find..."

"Cordelia"

"Aaarrrggghhhh" Cordelia dropped the books, screamed loudly and scrambled away from the sudden booming voice.

Angel jumped back when she screamed, "Are you alright?" he asked.

Cordelia placed a hand over her heart and tried to get her breathing under control when Giles came running out of the office.

"Is everything alright?" the watcher asked.

"I could smell fear and thought something was wrong" Angel explained as he noticed the horror novel on the floor.

"Jesus Angel, were trying to end my life with a heart attack?" Cordelia snapped as she got off the floor.

"I called your name but you never heard me so I..."

"Yeah, yeah. I think I need a drink" Cordelia mumbled as she dusted her clothes down.

"Are you ok?" Angel asked as he bent down to pick up her book and looked at it. He looked at the title and put two and two together. He quirked an eyebrow at the blushing girl in front of him.

"Not a word Angel" Cordelia warned, "Not a word"

End.
