FeedBack: This is a must! I need feedback, it's what I live for.
The AI team was crowded around the lobby of the Hyperion, talking, researching, and cleaning weapons. A normal day for them.
"Fred, whatcha got there?" Gunn asked her. She was on the floor, creating another complicated invention. It was about 10 inches long, 3 inches wide and was rectangular shaped.
"Well, it's kinda like a swiss army knife!" She said, still preoccupied by the object. Everyone else just looked at her curious as to what it was.
"Okayyy" Gunn said with a raised eyebrow.
"Just a sec!" She got a screwdriver and screwed in a few bolts.
"Done!" She held it up and smiled.
"See, I was thinking the other day that we should always have weapons with us. But all the weapons combined weighs a lot. All the knives, stakes, holy water, crosses, flame throwers, axes, swords..." She continued on.
"I think we got it Fred" Cordelia said, leaning on the reception desk, giving her friend a reassuring smile and a nod for her to move on.
"Oh sorry! Anyway, I figured, why have all the small objects, like the stakes for instance, a mess and thrown in the back of the car and get lost. I don't know how many stakes I've gone through and how many daggers I've lost in demon's heads.."
"Fred!?!" The group shouted, stopping her rambling.
"Sorry again. Like I was sayin', I put all the things together and got this" She held up the object again.
"Watch" Fred pressed a small button on the side and out popped a dagger, she pressed another button and a small, wooden cross with a pointed tip popped out as well.
"And it weighs about 10 times less." She beamed.
"That's...Actually very impressive. I like it." Wesley said, going over to take the weapon holder and turn it around in his hands, weighing it. It was indeed light in weight. He pushed a button and got squirted in the face with a gush of water.
The rest of the group tried to hide their laughter as they looked on at the soaked ex-watcher.
"Holy water?" Wesley asked, pulling out a handkerchief to wipe his face and glasses.
"Mmmhmm" Fred said with a nod and grin.
"I like it too. It's very resourceful, small, portable and very stylish. That's always a good mix." Cordelia said with a chuckle as she walked past Wesley patting his back.
"That's pretty tight. Think you can make me one of those?" Gunn asked, taking the device from Wesley and looking at it carefully.
"Oh well I have five more. I came up with the idea last week and just started makin em'. You want it?" Fred replied with a smile, handing it to Gunn.
"Cool" He said with a nod.
"Yes, well. Back to work all." Wesley said going into his office.
Cordelia went to get coffee and came back into the lobby. She leaned against the reception desk once more and glanced across the room to look at Angel, who was presently rocking his son to sleep. Everytime she saw them like this she couldn't help but smile. Her heart would beat faster and her breath would catch in her throat. She continued to sip her coffee and stare. Angel looked up when and saw Cordelia staring at him with a small smile on her face. When she realized he was staring, she tried to play it off by diverting her eyes and trying to clean things on the desk that didn't need cleaning.
Angel got up with Connor and walked over to Cordelia.
"Hey" He said casually.
"Hey yourself. Finally get the little guy to sleep?"
"Yeah, my arm too" He said, trying to move his arm in discomfort.
"Here, let me get him."
"Oww" Angel said as he stretched out his arm.
"I noticed you staring back there." He said a bit smugly.
"Me?" She squeaked.
"Yeah"
"No, see I don't stare. I look and admire. Staring is for star-ers, like you." She said, rocking the child in her arms.
"I stare?"
"Yeah, all the time. You stare and do this whole zoning out thing and… Stare into nothingness. Mmmhmm" She nodded towards him.
"Riiight." Angel just raised an eyebrow.
"So you were looking at, and admiring me?" He asked with one of his famous half smiles she loved so much.
"I'm sorry I was doing the looking and admiring thing. It's just that...I don't know. I see you two together and I can't help but stare, I mean LOOK and ADMIRE.” She said with a chuckle.
"It was just one of those Kodak moments I just couldn't miss." She looked at Angel and noticed he was staring at her.
"What?"
"Huh? Oh, nothing. Just looking and admiring" They both shared a knowing smile.
"I think it's time to lay him down" Cordelia walked past him towards the stairs. Angel stared after her a few moments then followed.
After they had laid Connor down and made sure he had everything they laid down on Angel's bed.
This had become a routine for them. They would lay down next to each other and just talk or just be together, even if they weren't talking, they were content.
"Where do you think we'll be five years from now? Look at how far we've come in four. So many things have happened. So many things have changed. I mean, if you had told me back in Sunnydale six years ago, that I would end up here, I would have laughed in your face. Then probably backed away slowly, thinking you had gone crazy or something."
Cordelia rested her head on Angel's shoulder and wrapped a hand around his waist. Angel rested his head on hers and put one hand around her waist, the other arm on her arm around his waist.
"I don't know Cor. Hopefully right where we are now."
"That works for me" Cordelia closed her eyes but immediately snapped them back open and tensed up when she felt the beginnings of a vision. Angel felt her tense up and tightened his hold on her.
"Cordy?"
"AAARRGHH!" Cordelia screamed and writhed in pain as the vision hit.
As soon as the vision was over, Angel helped Cordelia sit up. She moaned with every movement. Angel sat down next to her, smoothing her hair back out of her face.
"Cordy, what did you see?" Angel asked quietly.
"I saw the Craffman Theatre of Performing Arts. I've been there on a couple of auditions. I saw a man and a woman up on the stage...I think they were dancing?" Cordelia closed her eyes and kept taking deep breaths to calm herself.
"I couldn't see any kind of danger, but I could sense it. The woman was crying, she was so scared..." Cordelia trailed off, eyes still closed.
"Cordy? Stay with me here. Where is the theatre?"
"It's on 3rd and H Street. But it's not supposed to happen till tomorrow night... The Craffman Theatre? I thought that had been closed down." She whispered the last bit to herself. She thought about it for a second but pushed the thoughts away when the pain returned. Angel went to the get her painkillers and water.
***********
"Guys, Cordy had a vision!" Angel announced, walking into the lobby trying to find her pills in her purse.
"Is everything alright?" Wesley asked him stepping forward.
"Cordelia's fine and the vision isn't happening till tomorrow night. Let me go upstairs and give her these, then I'll come down and tell you what's happening."
"What's wrong?" Fred asked walking up to Wesley.
"Cordelia apparently had a vision. Angel will come down and inform us in just a bit." Wesley informed her, still looking after Angel.
********
Angel reached his bedroom to find Cordelia crying softly on his bed. Her back was to him and he could see her shaking slightly.
"Cordy?" He asked softly, coming to sit by her, rubbing her back up and down. She jumped a bit and wiped her face hastily, turning around to face him.
"Thanks" She took the pills and water, drinking them down quickly.
"You ok?"
"Yeah, yeah I I'm fine. Promise" She flashed a smile, then laid back down.
"You sure?" He was concerned. It was just like her to be strong and hide her weaknesses.
"Yes! I'm fine alright." She snapped. Angel was taken aback by this but didn't say anything. She realized what she said and quickly apologized.
"Oh god, Angel, I'm sorry. I just...You know how I get. I didn't mean to snap at you." Cordelia said with sincerity.
"Don't worry about it Cor. So... You're sure this is happening tomorrow night?" He got up and went to look into his son's crib, seeing him fast asleep he turned and faced Cordelia.
"Yeah. I saw a flyer up on a wall. It said something about umm, a ballet that was going to take place at 8pm tomorrow night in the theatre. But like I said I couldn't see any danger. No vampires, no demons of any sort. No lawyers... I could sense it though." She said with a shrug.
"We'll figure it out tomorrow. For now, just get some sleep." Angel walked over and gave her a kiss on the forehead.
"Not complaining with you there." She buried her head in the pillow, falling asleep almost immediately.
Angel watched her a moment then turned and walked down stairs to inform the others of the vision.
*************
"There he is." Fred announced as Angel descended the stairs.
"Hey man! Wes and Fred said Barbie had a vision." Gunn was perched up on the desk, playing with a rubber ball. He continued to bounce it up and down as Angel explained.
"Yeah, she had a vision. Cordelia said something was gonna happen tomorrow night at The Craffman Theatre of Performing Arts. She said she didn't see any danger of any kind, but she could sense it. She saw a man and a woman and that the woman was scared. That's all she told me." Angel went to sit down on the couch, resting his head on the back of it.
"You want us to run a check on the place?"
"Yeah. I'll go check it out tonight too. What time is it?" Angel asked.
"Ummm. It's 5:30. The sun's already down." Fred said from behind the desk.
"I might as well go right now. Cordy's asleep upstairs. If she wakes up before I come back, tell I went to check the place out and won't take long. Connor is upstairs too taking a nap, he shouldn't need anything." Angel got his coat and headed out.
"It was The Craffman Theatre right?" Fred asked going over to her computer.
"Yeah." Gunn jumped down, juggling the ball in his hands.
"I'm just gonna run the name really quick."
"What's going on?" Wesley asked coming into the office to stand by Fred and Gunn.
"Oh, Angel came and told us to look up The Craffman Theatre of Performing Arts. That vision Cordelia had was of a man and a woman, but she didn't see any demons or anything. Angel said she just sensed it." Fred told him.
"Yeah, That was about it." Gunn said.
"Well where is he now?"
"He went to go check the place out. Cordy is upstairs, sleeping away the post vision headache."
"I found it" Fred read the page with a confused look on her face.
"This says the theatre closed down about 18 months ago. Think the people got trapped in there or something." Fred asked, still skimming the page.
"I guess. Angel didn't really tell us anything. Maybe later we can ask Cordelia about it. She's the one that saw everything."
"Well, we'll ask Angel what he saw when he gets back. Print that out and any other history about the theatre itself." Wesley told her.
************
Angel arrived, confused when he saw the building. The windows were boarded up, and the brick walls were covered in graffiti. The doors had chains on them with big locks. Shaking his head, Angel walked the rest of the way around.
Walking back to the front, he broke the chain and made his way into the building. Once he was inside he took a look around.
The inside was just as bad as the outside. There were curtains hanging on the walls limply, torn and shredded. There was graffiti inside as well. Seats were pulled out from their place in the floor and a chandelier was broken to pieces in the middle of the room. There were balconies that had parts broken off. Dust was everywhere and it stung his eyes a bit.
Angel searched the perimeter. After about a half-hour he stepped out into the night. He had found nothing. Cordelia's vision didn't make any sense. Maybe she meant another theatre. This couldn't be where the 'ballet' or whatever it was going to be held. He would ask her when he goes back.
***********
"Hey guys! Where is Angel?" Cordelia descended the stairs.
"He went to check out that theatre you saw in your vision. What exactly did you see in your vision? Fred looked it up and it has appeared to be closed down for some time." Wesley told her.
"See, that's what I thought. I've been there on a few auditions. I heard awhile back it closed down cause it wasn't making any money and it had violated a few health codes. But then my vision doesn't make any sense." She pondered.
"What was you're vision exactly?" Fred asked her, sitting down on the couch.
"Angel didn't tell you?" Cordelia sat down next to Fred.
"Nah, he just gave us the gist of it. He said that you saw some chick and some guy in the theatre or whatever and that you didn't see any danger." Gunn informed her.
"I didn't see any danger. But the man and the woman I saw, they were dancing up on the stage. You know, ballet? I saw this flyer too and it said something about a ballet recital or something, being held tomorrow night. The woman was crying, I could sense her fear. It was almost over whelming..." Cordelia trailed off, remembering the emotions that ran through her.
"Hey" Angel walked into the lobby, seeing Cordelia he went over to her.
"I checked out the theatre. Cor, are you sure it was that theatre, cause I gotta tell ya that theatre was pretty run down."
"I'm positive. The visions have never lied to before." She looked up at him, matching his confused look.
"We'll go tomorrow and look again, but I highly doubt we'll find anything."
"Yeah well. We'll see tomorrow. Right now I'm hungry. You gonna get me something to eat Brood Boy" She smiled up sweetly.
"Any requests?" He asked the group.
"Chinese!"
"I want Mexican!"
"You always want Mexican...What about Thai?"
"I want Italian. I've been craving Parmesan for the longest time."
They all shouted at once. Angel shaked his head and sat down next to Cordelia covering his ears.
"One at a time, then we'll vote!" Angel looked around at the silent group.
"I want Thai food, come on."
"No Chinese!"
"I still want Italian!"
"Mexican actually sounds good."
"I don't really care what you get...But Italian does sound good"
"No!"
"Why not?"
'Oh dear god' Angel thought. He went to get all the menus they had.
***********
After picking out what they had wanted, the AI team settled around the lobby, eating their different meals in happiness.
"You guys find anything on the theatre? I forgot to ask sooner." Angel asked, sipping his blood (that had a bit of cinnamon in it).
"Hold on...I couldn't find anything demon related. The only thing I found was a murder that happened about ten years ago, but the case was solved, nothing to suspicious." Fred said reading the paper and nibbling on a taco at the same time.
"What happened?" Gunn asked.
"It says that while performing a man was killed by a stage light that fell from over head. His partner, also his fiancé, was so devastated she took her life...Oh" Fred looked down.
"So what? Were dealing with ghosts?" Cordelia asked.
"Could be. They obviously both suffered horrible deaths. Maybe they are restless. In this case it would be a simple exorcism to direct them to their final destinations" Wesley said from his place by Fred.
"Well that's it then. We go tomorrow night prepared with whatever we need and no more problem." Angel said standing up and going up the stairs to check on his.
"I guess so. I'll find the right spell and herbs and we go tomorrow." Wesley said going to research.
************ The next night
"You sure you got the right spell and ingredients?" Cordelia asked. Her, Angel, Gunn, and Wesley drove to the theatre. Fred volunteered to stay home and watch Connor.
"Yes, I am quite sure."
"Alright, were here!" Angel stopped the car and got out. Everyone followed in suit, carrying candles, herbs, orbs, sand and an ancient text.
"Gunn, can you stay here and watch guard. Just in case anyone or anything might try to enter" Wesley asked.
"Yeah, that's cool" He took his stance at the door. Everyone else went in and were taken aback by the scene in front of them.
The inside looked amazing.
It looked like what you would imagine a theatre would look like/
Balconies lined with gold, gold angel statues in the corners of the room and at the top the stage. The stage itself was enormous and black in color. There were large, red velvet curtains tied with gold colored rope that hung from the walls and were closed on the stage. There were rows and rows of seats.
Angel took the time to look around, absorbing the site. He looked up and saw a chandelier. The frame was gold and had crystals hanging from it. Fake candles propped up on it. The whole place was lit up and looked amazing.
"Oh yeah, looks really run down." Cordelia said taking in the sites before her.
"It, It wasn't like this before. Everything was torn and broken apart." Angel couldn't believe this was the same theatre he saw the night before.
"Okay so I'm officially creeped out. It didn't even look this good when I auditioned here."
"Lets just set up and get this done. I'm sure we all want to get out of here." Wesley said. He went to set up.
"Yes!" Angel and Cordelia said simultaneously.
"Well alrigh..." Wesley stopped when he heard a faint melody begin and the lights dimmed. Cordelia grabbed Angel's arm, tensing up. Angel walked towards Wesley, holding on to Cordelia all the while.
"What's going on?" Angel asked Wesley who just motioned towards the stage. The spotlight had been cast upon it and a woman, the woman Cordelia had seen, was moving gracefully across the stage. A man was visible behind her, just watching. He came up and grabbed the woman's leg as she raised it. His hand trailed down and rested on her hip as she brought her leg down. They continued to dance, obvious to the world around them.
"Angel, he's going to be killed" Panic evident in Cordelia's voice.
"Wes, is there anything we can do?" Angel whispered to him.
"We must try and prevent it. Do something...I'm not sure. Just a moment" Wesley flipped through the book, looking for something.
"How?"
"Try talking to them"
"Wes, they're ghosts. Will they be able to even hear or see us."
"Dennis can see and hear you" Cordelia said with a hand on her hip.
"Yeah but..." Angel heard a snap and saw the light start to drop. Without thinking, he raced to the stage and knocked the man out of the way. Once he hit the ground the man had vanished. Cordelia ran after him. She got up on stage and saw the woman from her vision. The woman was crying and looked very confused, she was about to run but Cordelia stopped her. As soon as they touched the woman vanished.
Cordelia stood for a moment feeling a bit uneasy. She fell to her knees, breathing hard. She looked over to Angel who was still on the floor. Something came over her and everything went dark.
Wesley raced up to the stage to find Cordelia and Angel unconscience.
"Angel? Cordelia?!?" Wesley tried to wake them up to no avail.
"Gunn!!!" Wesley shouted. A minute later Gunn came running.
"What happened?"
"I'm not sure...We need to get out of here, come on." Gunn picked up Cordelia and Wesley helped Angel to his feet, dragging him along.
They finally managed to get them to the car and headed toward the Hyperion.
