Thumbs down I say Nay

I really really hope she doesnt do this. Playboy just seems tacky. Its not something most mainstream actresses need to do. Charisma is a babe she looked it in the 100th episode of Angel as well as her appearance in Miss Match I doubt she has anything to prove to anyone on that front.

I`ve got to agree with some of the earlier posters that theres a huge difference between Maxim, FHM etc etc and Playboy. Doing a shot for Playboy carries a stigma that just isnt there for the other mags. Theres a reason why you dont see starlets like Katie Holmes, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Mila Kunis, Alyson Hannigan, Emma Caulfield or Kristin kreuk posing for Playboy while they are often seen doing shots for the other magazines.

Hopefully this is nothing but a rumour becuase it just doesnt seem like a good step careerwise.

Just to clarify:
Charlize Theron
Sharon Stone
Shannon Elizabeth
Jaime Pressly
Gabrielle Reese
Shannon Doherty
Farrah Fawcet
Cindy Crawford
And that's in, what? Twelve years?

Add to that that a good amount of Playmates(Jenny McCarthy and Pamela Anderson, for instance) have become household names and where, exactly would Carmen Electra be without Playboy? Poor girl would probably still hang around Prince hoping for her big break in the music biz.

Now, honestly, how many of the above mentioned actresses, models, etc. have had their careers impacted negatively by posing in Playboy?

Well, years passed and the white cat grew weak and died of old age. The tiger-striped cat cried a million times and then he died, too. Except this time, he didn't come back to life."

Do I think she should do it? No.
Would I buy it? Absolutely.

I don't really have an opinion as to whether or not I think it's a bad or good thing or not (frankly, I could never understand why the idea of a naked body bothers people so much while they have no problem with violence, etc., but I digress).

I just can’t see WHY her management team thinks she should. She’s got to be one of the most gorgeous, talented, smart, articulate, kind, compassionate woman I have ever seen and she gives the best fantastic interviews. She's got all the elements to become a HUGE star. These are the same people that represent people like Rene Zellwinger and Catherine Zeta-Jones, and you don’t see them posing nude (not even when they were nobody even knew who they were) and I know that CC has more acting chops than the BOTH of them combined IJMHO.

I wonder if they are giving her bad advice (or putting the cart before the horse so to speak). Isn't there job to promote their client instead of saying you need to do A, B and C to get noticed in the first place? There are other ways to get exposure. Like appearing on talk shows, taking parts in independent movies, or small parts in big movies (like MB for example), going to movie premiers, award shows, etc., etc. She is one the right track by doing small parts to start off with like she has with Miss Match for example.

Why not send her out to auditions first, meet up with high profile directors, writers, casting agents and producers, THEN if they don't want her because of some misguided perception that she is no longer sexy or a "hot mama" then doing a Playbody spread might be a good idea.

I even asked a guy friend what he thought (he's an entertainment junkie like me who appreciates a beautiful woman) and even he said that it wasn't a good idea. Yeah, it gets you exposure, but the roles you get offered after aren't that good (i.e. Alysa Milano is a good example, I mean, I wouldn't consider soft-porn movies and Charmed good quality work) or they have to struggle to be taken seriously after that (i.e. like Charlize Therzon).

Like I said, it's something to keep in mind.

Well, Alyssa Milano wasn't actually in Playboy. Her soft-core porn was actually some of her first work after "Who's the Boss?" ended, which is why she isn't taken seriously as an actress.

As for Charlize Theron, I think she had to struggle more to be taken seriously after appearing in Mighty Joe Young then appearing in Playboy. Movies about Giant Monkeys/Apes aren't exactly something to have on your resume and be taken seriously.
