What a difference a year makes...

...more or less. Today the WB made their 2004-05 upfront presentation, and I can't help thinking back to last year's event, when after nearly three months helping to drive the Renew Angel wagon despite the personal misgivings many here had had about Season 4, the Strangers got thanked in that very special way with which we now forever associate the Mutants. Wow, were we mad. "Mad" was a bit of an understatement, I think.

And now here we are, basking in a whole load of good press and better appearances for CC and fully anticipating news of a very different kind on Thursday, from UPN.

Yeah, baby, we know how to win the hard way.

Party...?

I know I've been celebrating. In fact, right this very moment, I'm celebrating by watching CC in that Miss Match episode (I'm not supposed to see).

She's beautiful fabulous, and the gorgeous NF to boot. It's a little early to drink, or I'd be celebrating her with a toast.

Come Thursday though, I fully intend to break out the bubbly to celebrate CC's good news!

Positive thoughts everyone!

Do they make porn 'motes? (What am I saying -- of course they do.) Anyone know where I might find one? Keeping it relatively clean, now....

Those 12 months just flew by, didn't they?

I'm glad we're all of the onwards and upwards now - it was horrible last May, particularly since the news dribbled out ambiguously, without a proper press release, leaving people to wonder whether or not CC would be returning in a recurring role, or not at all. Truth be told (and not to chase away the shiny mood), it was the lack of an appropriate and official goodbye and thanks for all the fish for CC and Cordy that bothered me the most, and that's the one thing I will always resent. No one may know for sure what went on behind the scenes, but the public lack of grace indelibly marked my opinion of Joss and ME, and that evidence is and always has been incontrovertible.

And hey, I'm celebrating this week on two fronts, I hope. Good news for CC from UPN (fingers and toes crossed), and the personal satisfaction in that other thing.

But wow - I think I've now been a member long enough to be one of the old-timers, if not the old-old-timers. That's kind of amazing - my relationship with Stranger Things has lasted longer than a whole lot of other relationships in my life.

Well, I joined up here precisely then (May 17, 2003) because ST gave every indication of being a good place to vent on and mourn the loss. I suspect others joined here around the same time for the same reason. It was hard to imagine that AtS could continue without Charisma, or that we'd no longer see this marvelous actress on the air.

Since then, ME has (effective tomorrow) gone off the air, CC has appeared as the lead in a TV film, in a fine dramatic role, as an acclaimed recurring character in a major network series, was brought back by popular demand to star in the single best episode of AtS ever to air, and has been cast in the lead in a pilot that has a reasonable chance of getting on the Fall schedule. After one year, it's not unreasonable to say that ME's unfathomable maneuver has not worked out too badly so far.

ETA: Looks now that there will be no AtS movie, at least next year. So ME is very much off the air after tomorrow's finale. http://www.buffy.nu/article.php3?id_article=4633

Ditto. There's a thing about just being polite, if not actually man enough to admit that he needed someone to play Cordelia, and CC did it in such a manner that's it's near impossible to imagine anyone else in the role, and in such a manner that twice two actors were brought in to replace her, and twice it didn't work.

Can't one reflect deeply on porn?

Give it two years. Charisma will be topping all the 'Most Powerful Person In TV' lists and Joss will be saying that because he is so godlike and wonderful, he knew that if he let her carry on in the show, then she would go down with it, if he just simply sacked her, she would have tried for new roles, but not got them, SO if he sacked her and treated her and her fans like shit, then she will be propelled to get those leads to show that she can do it.

Isn't Joss great?

PS: Was that the right colour? Purples sarcasm, right? I get confused...

ETA: I changed it to green! YAY ME!!! I FIT IN!

I was thinking about the exact same thing when I got that email from theWB today (mental note: remember to unsubscribe soon). I still remember how sad and angry I was about the whole thing and the way the fans found out.

But the happier I am now and that things turned out so well for Charisma. It's almost like the MEanies did her a favor.

To ST and ST porn. Cheers!
