Marvel's Agents of SHIELD
Anyone watch? What did you think?
I didn't like it, it wasn't bad or horrible I just found it rather "meh". At times I was so bored I started playing Candy Crush. The characters fit the typical Whendon archetypes and most of the younger actors were rather blah. I also ended up with a headache from all the Skye/Ward OMG Epic UST...ship this couple! anvils! The only interesting good actors/characters were Coulson, May and Mike/J. August but he was just a Guest Star..pity since he did a really good job. Fitz and Simmons could be interesting and the one actual laugh I got out of the show was from the fact that Fitz named his little flying robots after the 7 Dwarfs and Simmons little "awww" when Fitz mentioned that Bashful had found something. I'm going to give it another episode, but with The Originals starting on 10/8 and Ziva finally leaving NCIS I think SHIELD is pretty much booted from my DVR.

Meh. Whedon. Meh. I didn't watch and probably won't - but I heard JAR was one or the best things about it from several people.

I thought Coulson's enigmatic quips were fun when he was a supporting character, but got kind of annoying hearing one every ten seconds. Loved his entrance though. It is a shame Cobie Smulders is tied to HIMYM, but as it is that show's last season, I assume she'll be there for next season. Don't like the male agent, but Skye and Melinda May are cool. Everyone else is on kinda "whatevs, brah" status.
You're right about the archetype thing; it's like Whedon has one spreadsheet for all his stuff and just plugs characters in as necessary. I'll probably tune in again to see if it gets better, but yeah, there are other shows of its type that sound more interesting.

I sorted all the characters in Whedon tropes based on the trailers and I was spot on with my predictions. It was typically predictable for Whedon. I've seen it called Agents of Snooze and I think it fits. With so much else I want to watch, nope.

I don't know if anyone watches but the end of the season premiere gave me flashbacks to To Shanshu in L.A.
Guy looks for scroll to save girl, has a word that means death written on it, girl not dead. Pretty sure next week they're going to say that the word doesn't really mean death and I'm going to question why I continue to watch this show.
