In his letter to the Stallonezone forums and to AICN, about the casting replacement, it lists CC as Lacy, so I don't know where Joblo gets his info about her being an agent.

I was surprised, just from the physical description in the script, I would have picked her for Karen the waitress.

Yeah, I saw that over at IMDB, CC plays Lacey a bartender who happens to be Lee Christmas' girlfriend.

I guess Sly and Eric Roberts made up. I know there was some bad blood between them a while back...Sly had offered/promised Eric the role in Assassins that he ended up giving to Antonio Banderas.

None of this info seems too solid, but I would rather see CC in the fed agent role than as one of the girlfriends. It seems to me the agent role offers a much bigger possibility that she's in multiple scenes throughout the movie, whereas if she's just playing Statham's characters' girlfriend, she could be in a 2 minute scene early on and then dropped as soon as the action moves overseas.

Even so, kudos to her because it's still a big screen movie, but I'm REALLY excited about the possibility that there's more to it than that for her.

From the script I read, there's no skin involved for the girlfriend role so you lose!

In any case, I would much prefer the agent's role (Diane Lickson) since it's a major role, as Platy says, who appears in several scenes throughout the movie versus the girlfriend or bartender who only have one short scene each.

More screen time, more of a challenging character and more money for her not to mention better memory retention for the audience. So count me as another vote for the fed agent's role.

ETA: I just read the "letter" from Sly that seems to confirm that CC is Lacy. Well, shit. I really, really wanted that fed agent's role for her. I'm still thrilled she's in such a blockbuster film, but can't help but be a bit disappointed for her as well. I just don't get why she's getting all this publicity for such a minor role. Maybe because there are so few women in the picture and she seems to be the first one cast.

On the bright side, it's possible that the role has been expanded from the initial script. There are always lots of changes that happen in between the time a script is first drafted and shooting commences. It seems as though there are entirely new characters that have been added, and so it's equally possible that the Lacy role is not as limited as we might think.

How's that for optimism, especially coming from the founder of the original Pessimists thread at ST?

That's a good point. If they were impressed by what she was able to bring to the role, there's no reason at all to believe they wouldn't have expanded it to accommodate that. We all know she's a scene stealer, maybe they do too!
