FYI: Changing Your E-mail Address in Your Board Profile

Hey, gang--

Over the past several weeks, a few people have reported problems with accessing forum privileges after changing their board profile options. A couple of days ago, we pinned the problem down to changes in the e-mail address field.

As an anti-hacking measure, ST's forum software is set to require validation of e-mail addresses before an account can make use of most forum privileges (e.g. posting, private messaging, access to the Fanfiction/Spoilers area, etc.) We've discovered that changing your e-mail address to one that has not yet been verified resets your forum status to "Awaiting E-mail Validation," which means your member privileges have been reset to those of a guest as well.

If you're experiencing this problem with your account, just drop an e-mail to stranger@stranger-things.net from your new address, with your user name included. A moderator will reset your account to "Registered" status. If you need to change your address in the future, you can repeat these steps or ask a mod to do it for you -- we'll make sure your account is set for the correct privileges as soon as the change is made.
