Well, of course it was. Buffy was the Bestest Show Ever in the History of the World. And after it was canceled...hey, did you know there was a show called Angel too?? It was a spinoff and everything!

Because, you know, "How to Lose $50 Million On One Insane Buyout" is that other required core course in the Wharton M.B.A. program.

But...but, Penny, BtVS brought them stature. And class.* And respect and prestige. What does mere money mean in the face of those kind of gains? What do you think they're doing, trying to run a business?

*And when I use the term "class", I exclude many of the major plot lines of the last 3 years.

Heh. Valentine may have actually taken that class.

You know, it really bears repeating - even though AtS ratings for this year on average were higher than last year, and even though the string of heavily promoted uninterrupted last set of series episodes managed to reverse a downwards slide towards the middle of the season that was precariously close to last year's cancellation-worthy ratings, AtS was STILL not among the WB's top 4 dramas.

Anyone who thinks that Levin was "demoted" because a few hundred people (who certainly didn't translate into a few million viewers) marched outside of the WB offices with signs and managed to cough up enough cash to buy truck-side signage, is ... I don't want to say deluded, but I feel confident in calling it single-minded, narrow and sadly lacking in context. Saying Levin was demoted because he dared to cancel AtS is kind of like saying the reason the shows suffered ratings-wise and creatively in later seasons was the shocking disregard shown for true fans who knew that each and every episode should feature Buffy and Angel, respectively, gazing at pictures of their "ontwunubsolemate4eva!!!" and sighing despondently until such time (the finale) that Angel shanshued and Buffy fell into his arms and they headed off into the sunset, because that was the implicit promise that Joss broke.

In other words? Whatever. I'm not crying for Jordan Levin, because I'm certain he's been well paid and will go on to other lucrative ventures. And maybe he deserved to be passed over for the job - but it sure as hell wasn't solely because a couple of thousand internet fans decided to go on a television jihad on behalf of Joss Whedon.

Well, let me get this straight. The non-crossover issue (which IMHO was actually GOOD for both shows, especially ATS since it finally got out of BTVS's spotlight finally) was the cause of C/A and B/S? Sorry, that arguement doesn't hold any merit for me personally.

Seriously, they could of kept B/A going despite the lack of crossovers. Just look at the last season of ATS. It was so profoundly pro-B/A, all the time, nearly every episode that I thought that they were going to put up a flashing neon sign on the highway just to remind people. And this, given the fact that one half of said ship (i.e. Buffy/SMG) DIDN'T even make one appearance this season and no plans to. So, IJMHO, crossovers were entirely unnecessary if they wanted to continue on with said ship.

I dunno. I think we should start up the food drive for Levin here 'cause clearly the man has no job skills.

I'll even throw in the first can of Cream Of Mushroom and the cardboard box from my new water softner.

Can we call it the "Save Jordan Food Drive"? Our tagline could be "Helping the Harmless".

Oh absolutely. I'm just trying to figure out who's window we'll all stand under.

I don't know. If we call it that, people might think that Michael Jordan was somehow in need of financial assistance.

Bwah! Or folks might mistake it for the Jordan Wood "Get Outta Jail" fund!

Agreed, ATS didn't come anywhere near national coverage.

When Rob Lowe left TWW it was covered in several national papers. A co-worker of mine who didn't even watch the show new about it b/c it was on the morning news, part of the "around the water cooler" talk session on GMA and mentioned rather heavily on ET, Access Hollywood etc.

I even remember USA Today or another national paper having a large article about it. It had the standard WW cast photo largely displayed across the top of the page with captions added naming each actor and their salary.

I love the LOTR fandom. Really seriously. It's living proof that there are wankier bastards out there.

Hee! It's really too bad that Angel was cancelled because there was still some hope that Amy Victoria Bitter Could be Shawn Jordan might have joined this fandom.

I mean this fandom is hilarious enough but can you just imagine the entertainment value? Comic GOLD, I tell ya!
