Great essay on "You're Welcome"

Macha, a regular poster at the BAPS group, has put up a link to her essay on "You're Welcome.". Her take on Cordelia's role is a very interesting read for every Stranger.

G'wan! Hurry!

Interesting. It was kind of awkward to read at certain points, but overall, it was very interesting.

Along with the analysis of Cordy, I found the parts analyzing Wes and Angel as her bodyguards very fascinating. But the entire analysis about Cordy is pretty right on.

Quote:
She takes no prisoners. And nothing can hide from her once she finds the stone. Angel who always needed her to tell him both what was felt and what was owed. Cordelia, the daughter of King Lear, who always gave him what he was owed, which was (only and always) truth. Even if it had had to come at the end of a stake. It's about the kind of love that is fierce rather than sweet, and stronger than death.
And that sums it up.

I also liked this:
Quote:
Cordy has the sword. And a mean elbow. Always her sexiest dance, that power she's full of that does not define her.
And loved this:
Quote:
Cordelia, walking on those gilded splinters, through the labyrinth and down the stairs, to save a dead man with/after her last breath. Cordelia's specialty, spells of unconcealment.
Thanks for this!

That was one of the most poetic essay I've ever read. And I think I'll be reading it again to get all the nuances. Very nice, and insightful. And right on most counts.

Thanks, Penny.

I read stuff like this, or some of the other reviews that are out, and it all comes rushing back; just what the series has irrevocably lost and how unnecessary it all was. ::sigh::

someone should get joss, levin, and the head of fox, tie them to chairs, and make them read this essay, and all the good cordy reviews and articles, while someone in the background chants
stu-pid, stu-pid, stu-pic, while slapping them up-side the head.
