I just gave my opinion on your Ell-Jay, but I'll post it here too. I'm not sure a reboot is where they should heading with this project. A Buffy movie with the original cast of the show would be HUGE. A reboot might not go over so well, seeing as the show wasn't that long ago and honestly I can't imagine anyone as Buffy but SMG. Give it ten more years and I'd be into a reboot? Right now? Not so much.

All it screams to me at the moment is that they're trying to bankroll on the success (which, really, is still questionable to me) of Twilight - no offense to the fans here. Another 10-15 years, I understand if they want to reboot it. But the show just ended in 2003. That's fairly soon. It's still on reruns, and the DVDs are easily accessible - what audience demographic are they truly aiming for?
So no. Not interested at all. This Whit Anderson who's going to write the film can go and write fanfic for all I care. The Guardian reports that she's also going to play the lead role (although that is unsubstantiated) but it if's true, it screams of more Mary Sue-dom than I first thought. |
