Is there a reason the buttons aren't loading for me?

For the last three weeks, I've had a problem. The buttons and banners don't seem to want to load. Is it my computer or something wrong with the site?

For right now, CB, I took the buttons offline. The reason for our brief suspension week before last was the number of HTTP hits that came in all at once. In the top 10 URLs hit were the paths to the site buttons at the bottom of every page, so I made a text-only version of the standard footer to use during peak hours (Wednesday afternoons and evenings).

Word from our host is that the server spike two weeks ago was a fluke -- but for now, I'm not taking any chances. The banners and buttons will be back tomorrow.

Okay, now I don't have any buttons, avatars, or access to the control panel. The entire top banner isn't just not displaying, it's gone.

They're still there. It's possible that your cache is too full. Try emptying that and reloading the page. If that doesn't work, quit your browser and reload.

Kayo -- I'm assuming you use IE for the PC:

Open IE.

Go to the Tools menu and select Internet Options...

When the tabbed Options window opens, check that you're on the General tab (default when opening).

The middle section is titled Temporary Internet Files.

In that section are three buttons:
Delete Cookies...
Delete Files...
Settings...

Click on Delete Files... and answer OK in the delete files confirmation box.

Yup. That's what I was doing. Did it three times now, and nothing.

Oh, wait -- I bet you have virus protection on, don't you? We've experienced this on some computers when I have hotlink protection enabled. Let me turn it off, and tell me if it works.
