Nonono, Penny, I didn't mean ST is nearly dead--I meant our HP board is nearly dead. ST is still alive and kicking! Heck, we are apparently singlehandedly responsible for having the show canceled--we must be still busy. And besides, there are at least 15 of us now, right!

Hell, the employee in question is well and truly over it. Why shouldn't we be?

On what proven grounds do you base the assertion that an employee was dismissed for being "unreliable"? Or is this just subtle perpetuation of second-hand rumour and gossip?

Besides, I thought Joss' employees were fired for bluntly speaking their mind in the press, not for being unreliable.

There's a difference between getting over something and totally forgetting what happened. I haven't forgotten what Joss did, and I won't--hence my own feelings about supporting any further Whedon projects. But I don't go around muttering about what a rassin' frassin' rat-bastard he is at every given opportunity either--something you seem almost conditioned to do whenever Levin's evil name is brought up. Mostly I just find Joss amusing now. I don't think you're quite to that point yet.

By the way, I think your bitterness is really starting to get to you. Or did you really mean to say that? Here?

Fielding. You are well and truly a boob.

Damn women and their ovaries! How dare they ruin Joss' original plans!

Now that we've gotten that outta the way. Oh. I make fun of Joss, no question...but you'll also notice that, I don't wish death nor misfortune on the man. Maybe the occasional swirly but that's usually in response to someone wishing death on him. In fact, if it'll make you feel better the next time I have a major appliance conk out, he's got dibs on the box. I'll even throw in a can of Tomato.

Never let it be said I'm not a humanitarian.

...

But seriously, my reasons have always been that I personally will not watch another ME production because I find their corporate policies suspect. Especially, when they spout "Feminism" as a marketing ploy and to line their pockets. It's not just Charisma's situation (although I do admit that's primary), it's the letting go of 60% of their female writing staff and it's the fact that they continued to write Buffy (and the rest of the female characters to varying degrees) as physically strong but some where in the negatives on emotional growth.

I'm sure I could go on all day.

Now let's talk about you. Levin was simply the "figurehead" for your Power Whining. There's plenty of evidence that the end of the Whedonverse at best was 2% of the reason why he was demoted (aside: Although I'm gonna guess it was giving it another year after the dismal ratings of season 4 that made up that 2%). Dwindling numbers amongst the 18-34 demographic, floundering ad rates (Ya know, where they make money? The primary reason for a business existence? The only reason networks exist? Smallville being down around 25% is huge) and poor offerings at the pilot trough.

Levin's primary job was to make money and increase viewership numbers. IF he did not do that, then yes, it was time for him to go. That's business.

But if you think anyone isn't gonna laugh at the (and others) continued belief that Levin is personally responsible for the Whedonverse's demise when time and time (and time) again, Levin has done things that totally contradict that belief (ie. The extra season, being able to wrap up story when NO ONE would have been given that opportunity, letting Boreanaz go over to a rival network [one that I might add was incredibly hostile in those early days to The WB and bragging that they were gonna "squash" them. I have the pin that they were handing out before the networks even started around here somewhere] to appear in the series finale of BTVS, going out and talking with the fans instead of sending some college intern to disperse "bribes" [*snerk*]to silence the unwashed masses , etc)?

I'm gonna laugh and laugh and laugh some more.

So go ahead and continue to vent your spleen, Fielding. We need to fill our days when Joss isn't Power Whining for the press.

Haven't you been banned yet?

Damn, boy -- Australian Cub Scouts must be harder to complete than training for the SAS and Navy Seals put together. All this extra time and effort you've put in, and you still haven't gotten your "Bitter Yet Irrelevant Troll" merit badge yet?

It's really, really, really hard to get banned here. Part of that is 'cause I believe very strongly in the idea that people who only want to talk to six or seven people who agree with everything they say should just get themselves a LiveJournal, and friends-lock it.

But most of it's 'cause it's a lot more fun to watch everyone play Survivor: Stranger Things.

(Well, fun for me. I dunno about anyone else.)

Ah. I'd like to think that I'm not in the "only want to talk to people who think exactly like me" set, although I might just be kidding myself. Still, there are times when, judging by his messages, it seems to me that fielding's not remotely interested in engaging in a debate or argument, but in trying to show off his apparent belief that he is somehow intellectually superior to everybody on the board that doesn't share his "artistic" interpretations, the bedrock of which seems to be, "Joss is an Infallible Artistic God, and everybody else exists merely to facilitate or appreciate his Vision." It's a POV that, while I obviously don't share it, I can appreciate if for nothing else than as a source of amusement. Usually.

And...I've power whined enough. I'll shut up now.

No, seriously! It's not like I can't see where you're coming from. (Hey, I'm still waiting for Fields to tell me why it's okay for Little Joe to let cast and crew members learn they lost their jobs from the media, but Jordan Levin is an ass clown for delivering the news personally and giving the AtS gang respectful notice and a chance -- whether well used or not -- to wrap things up. Fields? You gonna get to that one anytime soon?... )

And I'm still waiting to hear why Joss' continued kookouts to the media about The WB/Fox/Hollywood is precious ("I want to hug him and squeeze him and call him George...") and Charisma's commentary from season 3 on the schedule changes was just plain wrong ("She got what was coming to her!!1!!!twentytwo!").

BWAH!!

I don't really have anything to add. I just wanted to see that onscreen again.

How sad is it that on Buffy the only female character who actually grew emotionally into a better person was DAWN? And how Fred morphed from kinda cool in Magic Bullet to ... whatever she ended up in during S5? And I won't even go into strong emotionally female characters like Cordy and Lilah getting replaced by ... EVE, NINA, and HARMONY. Ick.

Prima nailed one of my big beefs with JW's late writing. So sad too since the shows started out great.
