I bought that book soley for Ms. Cruise's chapter on what ME did to CC. If she hadn't already been my favorite author before I read it, she certainly lept to the front of the line afterwards. I will always adore her for what she said and I was thrilled beyond words to find out someone whose writing I love also was a CC fan.
Sometimes I wonder if she's online, on one of the CC forums. |

Thank you!
Somehow, I missed this the first time. She wrote a brilliant analysis. Beth

You know, I just discovered this author a few weeks ago. I finished the first book I checked out in a couple of days, and the second is sitting in my living room right now. Finding out she's a Cordy fan who was equally horrified about what happened to the character? It's like finding out she graduated from my high school or something. Awesome!

I read that article ages ago but I am SO glad it got posted again. Its a fantastic piece to read for any Cordelia-lover. And let's admit it, we are all Cordelia-lovers. The big secret is out. LOL
But really spot on with the whole article. Can't find fault in any of the logic.

I feel like she wrote everything I ever wanted to say about Cordelia but couldn't articulate well enough. Thanks for posting the essay, tojoson. It's a great read, and I think it expresses a lot of our collective Stranger thoughts perfectly.

I hadn't read that before, though not that long ago I read a Cruisie book for the first time. Fantastic essay. Does anyone know if she's a Stranger?

Very well done essay. I think we all probably wonder, at times, whether caring that much about fictional characters is a bit silly. But of course, if the only defense of the writers is that fans should care less than they do, it rather works against everything Joss always wanted.
I always felt that failing Cordelia made the entire series of AtS ultimately a failure, despite the fact that the show had many good episodes. Which is a shame. |

WOW! What an essay! She summed up my thoughts on what ME (I actually blame Joss) did to that wonderful character Cordelia and the beautiful friendship of Angel and Cordy. I have problems watching season 4 because of what the writers did to her. "Apocalyse, Nowish" is one of the best eppy's of season 4 until the end. The shot of Angel watching Cordy and Connor made me want to scream and cry. My heart broke for him. But I was too busy throwing up after watching Cordy and Connor kiss.
Joss had said at one point he had used up all the story for Cordy. I think he just liked writing for Fred more than Cordy. It was the wrong move for the series. They knew it too after they almost got cancelled that year. Why they did not try to bring her back sooner and for good was beyond me. Cordy, Angel and Wesley were the core of AI. they should have tried to fix the mess they were in. Instead they basically ignored it. I miss my Angel. The series was at it's best up until Season 3 with the arrival of Groo, the end of WITW. Although I enjoyed every eppy after that, I did not feel the same connection until "You're Welcome" in season 5. |
