The thing that sucks about Amazon and their "advance release dates" is that sometimes, stuff happens. I ordered Grosse Pointe in February because they had a March release date on the site. Well yeah, March has came and went, still don't have the DVD. Had this happen a few years ago too.

If anyone is thinking of preordering, I would just hold off. Because one they get your money for a preorder, its a demon to try to get a refund.

i have always had good luck with pre-orders, they didn't bill my credit card until the thing shipped, and i have checked it out

but i guess the safest way to go is wait till the release date, and then order, or maybe just a couple of days ahead of time

the only benefit of pre-order is that sometimes they give you a bargain, but with this price, who needs it

I've pre-ordered once from Amazon and it went smoothly. As tojoson said, they didn't charge me until they actually mailed the dvd. Perhaps yours got lost in transit? Hope they can rectify the situation for you soon.

I've preordered quite a few items from them since they started doing it. Most of the time, its gone okay. But I have had the same problem with preordered things who's dates get pushed back.

What happens is that the preorder dates come, the money is charged, and then the DVD is pushed back or not released at all (In the case of Grosse Pointe. It has never gotten a new release date). I was told that it was a computer error and it would be fixed, my money refunded. Been hearing that since March. I only recently got my money refunded to the credit card but they did send me a 5 dollars off my next order code thing. I had this happen with two foreign television shows to DVD as well. Same thing, charged the card, it got pushed back, took forever to get the charges reversed.

I like Amazon.com a lot. I have been a customer since they opened the website when you could hardly get anything from them. And I haven't had problems with pre-orders that came out on the exact date as promised, without it being pushed back. (I preordered Profit, and aside from being a few days late when I paid for it to be delivered that day, it went okay).

Basically, from someone who has done a lot of business with them, I don't pre-order anymore. I don't trust it. I still buy from them, about once a week. Just stay away from the preorder. Its not Amazon.com's fault if a distributor says they are going to have a DVD and they don't. I don't blame them. My father owned a chain of video stores (not franchises, actually video stores) and I remember all the issues with distributors pushing things back. They are huge corporation and yes, I am sure that they make mistakes and charge for a DVD when maybe the California warehouse doesn't have it. Just makes me leery because it happened a few times.

I am going to buy it. Just buy it after Aug 8. LOL

Livvie, I see what you mean. I've never had an order that had the release date pushed back. Even though you can't blame Amazon for the change, you can certainly hold them responsible for not refunding your money.

i understand that the woman who wrote See Jane Date is writing a sequel, but i don't think it's going to center on Jane, i think it will probably center on her friends,
but if they do a movie, maybe CC will do a bit part
