Episodes referenced in You're Welcome
In the subtext thread, Kar started quoting all the eps that were referenced in You're Welcome. I thought it'd be cool to devote an entire thread to that, just to get a sense of the true scope of the entire Angel story. So if you noticed a reference, direct or indirect, put it here! Let's see how many we caught!
I'll start: The House Always Wins - Eve said, "The house always wins," a direct reference to that ep and to the first time Cordy set Angel's life back on track from a higher plane. Hero - the video and the conversation about Doyle's death and Cordy's impending departure TSiLA and Epiphany - the Angel/Lindsey fight and Lindsey's departure (personally, I thought the old truck was cooler than the portal) Offspring - Angel saving Cordy from Darla's bite Tomorrow - Cordy and Angel's conversation about their missed meeting on the cliffs. Billy - Cordy tells Wes, "We're meant to be alone," and last night she tells Angel, "There aren't any people like us." A direct reference to the fact that there are no happy endings in the Angelverse Kel |

City of... obviously Angel talked about when he first met Lindsey...
Hero.. A quote from the teaser of the episode..at the end of the fight He grabs Lindsey and says "I'M Angel..." and then the rest of the qoute from the fake commerical. Actually there was a Buffy reference too.... When Cordy says "What bizzaro world did I wake up in"... that is from The Wish.

Disharmony - Cordy's reference to Harmony being evil.

It's flimsy, but...
Provider: When Cordelia is giving a speech, sees the view and forgets what she was saying, echoes when Angel is giving the speech about money not being important

RM W/a VU
I really think Cordelia's distraction from the spectacular view and how she mentioned the view more than once was a reference to RM w/a VU. Granted I would have liked to hear her ask about Dennis, but oh well. LOL.

I know I am reaching here, but I think she mentioned Xander, Groo, and Doyle in a way.

I'm not sure if I'm remembering this correctly...but doesn't the way Cordy cups Angel's face at the end of "You're Welcome" look exactly the same as the way she does it in Angel's dream during "Deep Down"?

The line "all i did was beat up a tiny texan, not like i helped anyone". Also from City of.. when he says to Doyle "killed a vampire didn't help
anyone". |

"Belonging": "Oh, crap."
I assume the blouse was meant to harken back to the entire Pylea arc. "Judgement," of course: "I wish I could be here to see it."

Didn't watch the last epis of last season, but Home was referenced... the reason they made the "deal with the devil"
The episode in which E!Cordy Killed Lilah... Soulless? (not sure if that is right) Someone already mentioned "Disharmony", but also for the "new clothes" happy dance in the hospital... Angel even hops up and down and claps too (again!)! Lori

"Offspring" the "just once" line was the same Angel used to explain Darla
The whole Jasmine thing. TSiLA-Lindsey hand I need you--TSilA Dead End-repair of Lindsey's hand The "amazingly enough I do" was very close to Cordelia's saying she did know what it felt like to have a rebar through her torso in "Untouched" The critter in the giant pot looked a lot like the "tavald" demon from Expecting. The "some people change" dialogue was very similiar to Somnbulist "I get that" Hero "Soldier" may harkon back to IWRY----but I don't like to remember that on so I may be wrong. Disharmony---the tried to kill me and you and me together again. Tommorrow--the meeting Benediction--the blocking during the chair talk Lindsey and Eve out on the deck looked a lot like the Darla Angel fantasy in First Impressions The sword toss was very similar to the stake toss of Heartthrob "You're welcome" War Zone The view may have been about Rm w/ Vu....but also wonder if its a reference to Darla and the views---about selling out. Fred reading the result without seeing the object was similiar to New World Telling Cordy it was safe and there's nothing to worry about--only to have a scary pop up was like telling Fred everythign was safe and nothing to worry about--only to Cordy start screaming. And I think a lot of what is being called by direction/editing on Fury's part is actually because he replicated angles and shots from other eps Last edited by LadyJubilee; 02-05-2004 at 10:27 PM. |

Waiting in the Wings - Cordy straightening Angel's collar and suit like she straightened his tie and tux.
Heart Throb - (a little stretch) Cordy's look when she took the crystal out of the machine like she looked when Angel gave her the big honkin' necklace. Also the way he put his hand on her back as they raced in the basement toward Lindsey was what he did when they were running in the tunnels. |
