Deathly Hallows II

So this is the very last thing they filmed on the very last day of filming for the very last Harry Potter film. You know, until the inevitable 'franchise reboot'.

Part one is out on DVD on April 15.

Seriously? I can't believe it's out so early. DH1 is the only part of the franchise I didn't see at the theater. I figured they'd have a big release just before part 2 came out.

Yeah, I haven't seen DH1 either. My niece loves the other HP movies and she wasn't wild about it, so I decided to save the money. I imagine some enterprising theater operators will do back-to-back showings of DH1/2 though, even if it isn't officially released again. I know I would anyway.

I didn't care for the books, so I knew I wouldn't like the films. I haven't seen them yet, but I plan on buying the DVD just for kicks.

Clarify this for me.... You didn't like the Harry Potter books, and you haven't seen the movies. And yet your name is SlytherinAngelic?

....I'm getting mixed signals here. LOL

It's totally possible my expectations were too high. It could have also been the fact that it was a "dine in" theater which I found extremely distracting so that could have pulled me out of the movie as well.

I did like the movie, in fact my only complaint was the Neville scene confronting Voldemort how they were still making fun of him. I guess they didn't have time to go into it but I wish they had commented that Neville turned into a fantastic leader. I also didn't like that Harry told Ron/Hermione to kill the snake and not Neville.

I've been to one of the Studio Movie Grill's in the Metroplex a few times, but for anything serious. I can totally see being distracted during anything more complex than a rom-com.

I must have totally forgotten them making fun of Neville. I do think it's telling, though, that Neville was able to kill the snake when clearly Ron and Hermione could not. I took that as yet another sign that Neville, who was born on the same day as Harry, was also integral in the death of Voldemort. If he had not killed Nagini, then Harry could not have killed Voldemort.

I just saw this. IMO, the clear winner for best of the series. I did really think for a minute there that Kloves' "Hermione Uber Alles" attitude was meant Hermione was going to kill Nagini, but I guess even Kloves couldn't do that.

I didn't mind that it was the Death Eaters who made fun of Neville. I thought they kind of did in the book too, and really, don't you want your enemy to underestimate you?

I was reminded again how much I really want JKR to write the Hogwarts Year Seven book, starring Neville, Ginny, and Luna though.

And yeah, frankly, whenever Kloves deviated from the book, it was a far less engaging story. Ah, well. Naught to do now but wait for the reboot.
