Charisma will never be cast as Wonder Woman because she's simply too old for the part. Any testing done will just be a formality.

For Joss' "reinvisioned" (not from Krypton) Wonder Girl:Teen Angst movie, anyone over the age of 19 is too old.

But isn't Wonder Woman basically just a Slayer? She's fast, strong and feirce but instead of stakes and holy water she has a nifty rope and wrist thingies?

I'm not sure that WW fans would agree, but from Whedon's comments about his vision for "his" wonder woman, i.e. reinventing the wheel. she does sound an awful lot like another "Slayer".

I read somewhere that he was changing the WW costume to black leather.
That said, I wouldn't pay to see Whedon's version even if he got Charisma to star in it. Which he won't. So, I guess I'm all set.

Actually, I think it was Joel Silver (WW producer) who said they would be looking for someone younger/unknown before Whedon even came on board.
Let's see. . .oh yes. Fieldy: Silver has a 25 year-old (Kristen Bell) playing a 17 year old in Veronica Mars. Too Old? OH! And he has a 35 year-old playing a 28 year-old ex-Laker Girl cum Gold Digger on the same show. Do I need to give you her name as well? Whedon's change of heart? Or 'a formality'? A formality for what? Testing a person he has no intention of hiring because of bad blood they already share? This rationale makes sense how? To placate us? Sorry, don't see the percentage there, either. It's more like, someone hired someone who has made it known she wants to be Wonder Woman in the movie - for a part on his television baby. Since one of the jobs of producer is to hire actors and directors and writers, maybe they've had another conversation - they do that, producer and director (who is, after all, an employee as well) and this is the result of that conversation. That, and Whedon's probably exhausted from all the off-the-record questions from interviewers asking about casting Charisma. Last edited by rolandro; 10-03-2005 at 01:23 PM. |

The best case scenario: Joss just decides to blot out their past working relationship, and goes into the test with an open mind.
Okay, so I guess I'm just wishful thinking. If she were to not get the part fair and square, because another actress outdid her, I wouldn't have a problem with that. But Whedon should not hold his past working relationship with Charisma against her. |

It's possible that he has to give CC a read because the producers like her and he doesn't have a choice in the matter. Doesn't mean she has a shot at the part just that he has to do it to make them happy.
Yeah! Thatīs probably the reason! I feel bad for her, cos she soo clearly wants the part, and no doubt would be great at it, but the chances of her getting it are slim to none! Even if TPTB are fine with an actress over 30 playing the part, CC still wonīt get the part, cos Joss will probably make sure that that doesnīt happen! |
