Ep by Ep - The Cordy Highlights
Just for fun, kicks and giggles - here's a list of every single BTVS and ATS episode in which Cordy appeared. Let's take turns running down the list with our favorite "Cordy" moment from each episode, whether it's a scene, a quote, an insight into Cordy's character, a bit of C/A subtext, or just something wicked awesome she was wearing! (Mods' warning about no venting, editing possible, etc. applies in here as well!) I've skipped the Season 3 episodes that didn't include Cordy ("Lullaby, Sleep Tight and Forgiving"), and ended the list after Lorne's spell woke up Jasmine (hence, "Not!Cordy!), but someone else can add those in when we get there if they want to.
If you need help remembering what each episode was about, try looking through tvtome.com's episode guide: Angel Episode Guide Season 1, BTVS 1) Welcome to the Hellmouth 2) The Harvest 3) The Witch 4) Teacher's Pet 5) Never Kill a Boy on the First Date 6) Angel 7) The Puppet Show 8) Nightmares 9) Out of Mind, Out of Sight 10) Prophecy Girl Season 2, BTVS 11) When She Was Bad 12) Some Assembly Required 13) School Hard 14) Inca Mummy Girl 15) Reptile Boy 16) Halloween 17) Lie To Me 18) The Dark Age 19) What's My Line Part 1 20) What's My Line Part 2 21) Ted 22) Bad Eggs 23) Surprise 24) Innocence 25) Phases 26) Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered 27) Passion 28) Killed By Death 29) I Only Have Eyes For You 30) Go Fish 31) Becoming Part 1 32) Becoming Part 2 Season 3, BTVS 33) Anne 34) Dead Man's Party 35) Faith, Hope and Trick 36) Beauty and the Beasts 37) Homecoming 38) Band Candy 39) Revelations 40) Lover's Walk 41) The Wish 42) Amends 43) Gingerbread 44) Helpless 45) The Zeppo 46) Bad Girls 47) Consequences 48) Doppelgangland 49) Enemies 50) Earshot 51) Choices 52) The Prom 53) Graduation Day Part 1 54) Graduation Day Part 2 AtS, Season 1 55) City of... 56) Lonely Hearts 57) In the Dark 58) I Fall to Pieces 59) Rm w/a Vu 60) Sense & Sensitivity 61) Bachelor Party 62) I Will Remember You 63) Hero 64) Parting Gifts 65) Somnambulist 66) Expecting 67) She 68) I've Got You Under My Skin 69) The Prodigal 70) The Ring 71) Eternity 72) Five By Five 73) Sanctuary 74) War Zone 75) Blind Date 76) To Shanshu In L.A. "Welcome to the Hellmouth"
Cordelia walks up to Willow at drinking fountain. "Willow, nice to see you've seen the softer side of sears!" (Or something to that affect, i'm really tired ...Somebody can take over this ep. I'm severely dissapointed with myself) |

CC/Cordy wasn't in "The Pack" or "I, Robot, You Jane."
The Harvest: "God! What is your childhood trauma?" Cordy also established standard "gangs on PCP" explanation for the episode's events.

I thought this thread would get more play. Hmm. So, "Teacher's Pet." One of two BtVS episodes I've never seen all the way through. ("Beer Bad.")
I do remember the scene where Cordy's talking to the threapist and we first discover the depths to which she will go to find the pony under the pile of horse poo. In this instance, it's even though a teacher is dead, she did lose, like, 7 ounces. This bright-eyed, glass-half-full nature was key in her ability to deal with Mr. Doom-and-Gloom a few years later.

Never Kill A Boy On The First Date Three words: "Hello, salty goodness!" The unofficial beginning of the C/A subtext. Also, unfortunately, the unofficial beginning of the Buffy/Cordy competition. Oh well - we know who wins in the end.

Angel - I remember this episode reasonably well due to the "this is exactly what happens when you sign these free trade agreements!" scene. It endeared her to me for some strange reason.

The Puppet Show
Oh, The Greatest Love of All... And the breakdown? "But the mood! It'll be all wrong! My song is about dignity and human feelings and personal... hygiene or something. Anyway, it's sappy, and no one is gonna be feeling sappy after all that Rock and Roll" It's almost as if she wrote the song herself.

Nightmares
This is a tough one, since Cordy didn't have that much to do in it. But I do think that this was the first instance where it became evident that as self-confident and self-assured as Cordy seemed, she had deep-seated insecurities. In her nightmare, her normally fabulous hair looks like mine when I wake up in the morning (I wish I was kidding!), and her worst fear is that she becomes unpopular. I think Cordy really did have to mature beyond thinking that she was just a "hottie", and that she had no value beyond her popularity and looks, and that's something that didn't happen fully until the AtS years. But that insecurity about not being popular didn't disappear for a long time.

"Out of Mind, Out of Sight" - one of my personal favorite Cordy moments is at the end after everything is over and she confronts The Scoobs about who she is and who they think she is. There's a great line about being alone in a crowd that for me gave a realy depth to the typical HS Chearleader role that Cordy was supposed to fill.

Excellent. I get "Prophecy Girl".
Bar none, Cordelia's single greatest moment of season one BtVS was Cordelia doing the most immediately practical thing she could upon learning that they had to get to the library. I mean really, "usually we just walk there"? Well then, get out of the car, little Miss Can't-Think-Outside-The-Box. It also gives lie to the belief that she can't drive worth a damn. Ever driven a car inside a building not designed for cars to be driven in? It ain't easy. You have to hit those doors just right to get through them without scratching the paint. Okay, enough. Thanks for your indulgence. Though "see how you like it" after biting a vampire is a close second.

When She Was Bad
Wheee! Everyone, spank your inner moppets! Seriously - for all the bitterness about Cordy's bitchy side, she was RIGHT. She was honest, and truthful, and it was what Buffy needed to hear, whether she wanted to hear it or not. Cordy always cut right to the truth of things, and though that quality was tempered in later years, it was part of what made her so unique.

This is working out perfectly b/c I loved "Some Assembly Required". It was the start or hint of the C/X to develop later on. We got to see a Cordy who had her young heart broken There's also some really great C/A scenes.
I loved Cordy's discussions about Daryl and her later attempts to thank Xander for saving her life. Like OfM,OoS it goes to show that there is more to Cordy then the 'bitch'.

"School Hard" -- Cordelia becomes the first and only member of the gang who chose to help Buffy because that's what she wanted to do and not because she's dating someone who's in the gang or because she's all in awe of Buffy. Oh sure, this is just a toe in the water kind of experience, but it's a step no one else took.

Inca Mummy Girl finds Cordy regressing slightly to her old self, giggling over her exhange student only to find he's not exactly what she hoped for...
"Small talk? How about simple instructions? Get Punch-y. You. Fruit. Drink-y. " And of course... her simple instructions to Devon CORDELIA: Devon, I told you I’d be at the dance tonight but I am not one of your little groupies. I will not be all doe-eyed, looking up at you standing at the edge of the stage. DEVON: Got it. CORDELIA: So, I’ll see you afterwards? DEVON: Sure, where? CORDELIA: I’ll be standing at the edge of the stage. |
