I would like Damon more if I wasn't so distracted by his blusher.

Um... I haven't posted here in months. But I decided to give the show a chance. Never read the books. However; I read her Night World series and fell in love with them. Vampire Diaries is like the Twilight before the Twilight became popular; except nor nearly as bad as Twilight is. I hate anything that goes through that unnecessary relationship drama and self-proclaimed shipper wars. I got into that back with Harry Potter and I'm NOT repeating it again. Hopefully. Besides that. VD... haha... is so boring for a show. I'm just sitting there through the hour like... Hurry up Supernatural! VD is trying so hard to relate to the masses that it fails epically.

DB totally benefited from that on ATS, they never really made him look pale.

I don't know if it's really blusher. IIRC he had that kind of flush on his cheeks sometimes on Lost. It's been a while, though, so I'm not totally sure.

Maybe it is his natural blush coming through the pancake makeup, I don't know. I do remember thinking that he was hot on Lost, so I was surprised how NOT I am finding him so far on VD.

Yeah, Ian's looking really old.
I fear that Elena and Stefan are going to start to grate on me rapidly as most main focus ships tend to. If that happens, I bail. Can't deal with more TV-related anger. |

I've gone back to my whole, "Avoid SPN message boards," thing. But I gotta talk about something.
Okay, I watched tonight's episode of Vampire Diaries. And it was the best so far. Still not a great show, but not so boring. Actually, it was kinda interesting. And the two male leads walking around shirtless never hurts. But one thing is starting to annoy me. For four episodes now, they've replayed the same basic scene with Bonnie (the psychic/witch in denial). Something weird happens (like her lighting a room full of candles with her mind in this ep). She realizes what happened, and we get a close-up of her look of worry/fear/horror. Okay, so she's developing these powers that she really doesn't want. It's freaking her out. I get it already! This is actually a pretty interesting part of the show, so I wish they'd move things along and actually get into this power thing. Instead of showing me, with yet another version of the same scene, that Bonnie doesn't want these powers, which I already knew.

I just downloaded the first four episodes last night. Have yet to watch the 4th but so far, I'm kind of hooked.
I never quite got into True Blood (I tried the first ep and have the first book but so far, I'm not so impressed...maybe I need to give it another go?) but this? I really like it. It has so become my guilty pleasure. I agree that Elena can be a bit boring. I like her but I'm not all yay!Elena yet. I like Stefan and I looove IS as Damon. Creepy bugger! *G* I liked him in Lost so it was a big plus for me watching with him in. I'm more invested in Elena's brother Jeremy and, like others, Bonnie. I'm hoping that they develop her powers more as the show progresses and don't just do like you guys have said with the big 'O' face and then no reveal behind it.

I recently read the first 2 books and am part way into the third....and I have to confess that I sort of like the mythology that they are creating for the show better than the books. I guess it is too early to know for sure, but I am leaning towards liking the civil war era ties a little better than the whole Renaissance thing. It makes it a little more immediate to their location.

I really, really like Damon and Carolyn. I swear if the scene doesn't have one or the other in it, it's not worth watching. I want them to be my new Spike and Drusilla.
That being said, I kind of like the new mystery that popped up at the end of last week's episode. The fact that the town's people seem to know about The Salvatore brothers is a really cool twist. I also like they way they're developing Bonnie, I kind of find her reactions cool. It's almost like she's impressed and freaked out every time she does something odd. As predicted Stefan and Elana are getting on my nerves, I don't hate them they're just boring. They remind me of Max and Liz on Roswell, I never hated the characters or the pairing they were just kind of blah.

You know, I'm shocked and amazed that they've made the second male lead on this show, the third point in the romantic triangle, so outright homicidal. Most shows would be very careful about just how evil they showed him being. (Think soulless Angel on both BtVS and AtS, and how careful they were about what they'd show him doing.) But how many people has Damon attacked and/or killed in five episodes?
Although, if he keeps killing the townsfolk, there won't be anyone left pretty soon. This last episode really amped thing up in regards to Bonnie's powers. Although it did give me Firestarter flashbacks, since she set fire to the car after getting angry. Actually, both times she used her power this ep, it was because she was angry. I'm actually looking forward to Bonnie's visit with her grandmother (who seems to know what's going on) next episode.

I am so used to seeing Jasmine Guy on Dead Like Me that it was weird to see her not looking kind of butch.
And I am surprised at how brutal they are playing Damon, as well. I even had the thought that maybe they weren't going full fledged love-triangle because it seems hard to believe they could make him redeemable without some kind of Joss Whedonesque "Soul" trick.

I made a TVD fanvid. And it's my first vid ever, so be gentle.
What's funny about this is I'm not that into the show yet. But I wanted to give vid making a try. And, with only five eps so far, scene selection wasn't as difficult as it would've been for a show with 50+ eps. (I'm looking at you, Supernatural.) Anyway, here it is. Bonnie - Witch Will I ever do this again? I don't know. It turned out to be very involved. But it was a fun challenge for me.

This show is getting really good. I'm not sure if I like the fact that Nikki is a vampire now, I kind of want her to just die but who knows? She may make for a great vampire plus I like the added tension/depth it gives to the Elena/Jeremy and Matt/Elena relationship.
Caroline is by far my favorite character (she reminds me so much of Queen C). I'm really curious as to what they're going to do with her and what the gem signified? I hope we get more Caroline/Damon scenes they have amazing chemistry together. Bonnie is getting really cool too, I'm so excited for Jasmine Guy!

I'm actually mourning the death of Zach. He was so hot. I was kind of rooting for him and Elena's aunt to have a little thing.
