F*cking up WW

Just scoped this out from IMDB

Quote:
Hollywood beauties Catherine Zeta-Jones and Sandra Bullock have been dismissed as too old to play superheroine Wonder Woman in a new movie version of the TV series - by the show's original star. Lynda Carter, who starred in the original 1970s show, would prefer to see Buffy The Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon cast a young actress in the lead role rather than any established stars who have been linked with the part. She says, "It should be an unknown actress who's about 20." The OC's Mischa Barton and Tom Cruise's fiancee Katie Holmes are said to be amongst Whedon's prime candidates for his 2007 release

I read at CC.com they had asked Cameron Diaz to star and she turned it down, she's like 30, or 32. When it comes down to it. Its not the age of the actress, its the script. All they care about is sequels. They want to cast younger so they can churn out 2, or 3 more and yet their lucky to get another hit at all.

I don't understand, why you would say Joss F*cking up WW. All he is trying to do, is find someone younger to play Wonder Woman. How is that F*cking up WW?

Because's it's Wonder Woman, not Wonder Girl.

JMO. I don't want to see someone who can't act in the role.

Now, of course ignore everything I said if she's smokin' hot <-----that would be the sarcasm font

To be fair, it is Lynda Carter here who said she'd prefer to see a younger unknown in the part. And yes, she's also echoing echoing what JW said as well.

Either way, there are many ways to fuck up WW besides casting...and I'm sure Joss will do it splendidly, starting with his writing.

Yea, but if there in there 20's doesn't mean they can't act.

No, it doesn't. Doesn't mean they can, either. I just have little confidence in Joss' abilities on this score. I hope I'm wrong, but I until I'm proven so, I'm not going to have confidence in his choice.

Oh ok, I was really hoping they would get Charisma to play Wonder Woman. LOL, I think everyone here would want Charisma to play the part. She has the body and the acting skills.

IMO, and I'm not only talking about Joss here but, when the producers, directors, studio heads go on and on about casting an unknown young actor/actress to fill the role of Wonder Woman or Superman or going after the current "IT" girl/guy instead of casting a talented actor for the part it tells me that they're not really interested in making a "good" movie and are just banking on the fact that it's a comic-book movie to sell the story.

There's so much more that can be told about Superman and Wonder Woman and yet it seems that the current idea is just to find someone young and good looking and hope that us poor American Idiots will buy a ticket just because it says Wonder Woman or Superman on the Movie Poster. What this really boils down to (for me) is style over substance. Movies like FF get the look of a comic book but lack the heart and soul of the story and the characters. That to me is where both WW and Superman are headed. I'm just glad that the Batman people had the good sense to actually delve into the heart of the character and casting Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Gary Oldman didn't hurt the film either.

Bear in mind imdb.com isn't the most reliable source in the world either.

When it comes to the stuff that users can upload, it's notoriously bad. However, if it's from the news services like WENN such as this, they're usually reliable or at least pulling the same gossip as the other entertainment news sources.

I second that. I saw this story on CNN.com. So yeah, sometimes they get it right.

Gotcha.

Didn't Joss already state that he wanted to cast a younger, unknown as WW and proceded to give a description that sounded a lot like Fred?

Exactly, this is why I don't understand why they won't bring in Charisma for the part, she is perfect for it. Even though she is doing VM.Or at least anyone else with good acting skills that can play the part.

It seems to me that the really godawful comic-book adaptations tend to be the ones with major stars in them. As a rule, the ones built around unknowns fare a lot better. And despite a few misses, Joss's track record for finding talented unknowns is pretty strong. If Joss f's up the movie, it probably won't be due to his casting decisions.
