Don't know if you've heard of them or not, but the
Blood Ties series is pretty popular. And was the basis of a (sadly) short-lived series that I really liked. So you can read the books, then watch the episodes, and have a fine old time.
And, for something a little different, you can try
The Dark Series by Christine Feehan. They're vampire/romance novels, so they're great if you like both. To date, there are 19 books in the series. I remember reading a bunch of them a few years back, and they were very intense, both in the romance department, and in the darkness and violence departments.
