I saw this opening weekend with a friend who had watched the cartoon. I had not watched it and was admittedly only there for the shallow entertainment of watching Jackson Rathbone.

Even so, I foudn the movie entertaining and complete as a movie. I don't feel I missed anything or that the movie didn't stand on its own as an independent piece. In fact, I liked how the mythology was layered, and I wanted to see the cartoon because of it. I liked this world.

So I don't knwo what the complaining was about... I have a feelnig this was one of those movies that was never going to make ANYONE happy. So I've kept out of it other than to say I did like it.
