It did not. I will say that perhaps it lacked the emotional wallop that the book had for me, especially during the part immediately before and after Harry's death, but that didn't mean no emotional connection at all. I cried through all that part in the movie even without the intensity I felt in the book. Then again I was predisposed to feel a connection with this movie because of all the emotion associated with the final movie of the series, which was also in some ways the final part of what has been a significant chapter in my life.

ETA: I think I also felt a certain amount of distance from the first because I knew it was going to end as a cliffhanger, and it was only a first of two situation.
