Hammer films were fun, and Christopher Lee had the requisite menace/sexy thing going. Horror of Dracula scared the bejesus out of me when I was twelve. He was SO MEAN!

The other day I DVR'd Dracula with Frank Langella. Don't know why they reversed the Lucy and Mina roles - except that maybe, being 1979 they figured Lucy was the more interesting female character and Mina kind of a milqtoast character - but I do enjoy Frank Langella's understated performance. My favorite part is when Van Helsing is telling Lucy about vampires and you get the shots of Dracula riding out of the fog on his big, black horse. The whole thing has an awesome gothic feel to it.

Coppola's Dracula had some good stuff in it too, but I really found it hard to get past Oldman's thick accent under his make up.
