I think the record shows you can't ease someone else into this particular title role. I think you have to essentially ease someone else into their own series. And again, it remains to be seen whether either the actor or the character can pull it off.
Personally, I'm not at all sure I'll have any interest in seeing the series continue after Ford leaves, but again. I can be convinced.
