Can't access my User CP

I can access all threads and post messages and everything like that, but whenever i click User CP i get a database error message.

Anyone know what's going on and when it'll be fixed? I really need to update a few things in my profile.

I have no idea where that's coming from -- in fact, no idea it was an issue -- but you can choose any of the User CP links from Quick Links (try Edit Signature) and then get to the rest of them from the left navigation.

Meanwhile, I'll try to parse the error message and fix the problem.

Thanks Penny :)

I was able to access my User CP via the Quick Links at the top like you suggested, but whenever i click Update Profile or Update Signature i get the same old "there seems to have been a slight problem with the ST forum database" message *look*

I don't get it.

I don't get it, either. All the links under Quick Links work in Firefox, as well as all the left nav links once you choose one of the CP links. Have you tried emptying your browser cache? Or using a different browser?

I'm having the same problem. I just figured it was a database error. No one else is having issues?

Now that you mention it....I wouldn't have known it if it hadn't been for this thread, but I get the same error message when I click on the "User CP" link at the top of the page.

As mentioned above, you should be able to get to all the User CP links from Quick Links. Click on any one of them (e.g., Edit Signature or Edit Avatar), and you can also get to them from the left navbar.

Well, I'm getting this db error thing too:

Please try again by pressing the refresh button in your browser.

An E-Mail has been dispatched to our Technical Staff, who you can also contact if the problem persists.

We apologise for any inconvenience.
It's happening whenever I try to get into CP or save an edited sig after getting there via Quick Links.

Caches, history, and cookies were all cleared. So I'm off to go log back into all the places I never log out of. ;)

I'll probably have to just go ahead and install vB 3.6.x. I've been putting it off because it will take a lot of time I don't have to redo the templates and site-hardening measures, which I'm not particularly looking forward to (and to a lesser extent because people who haven't posted in like two years will come back just to shit on it, which I'm also not looking forward to). I'm doing preliminary work at another site I own, so hopefully the disruption will be temporary and minor.

Thanks for all your help and hard work on the issue Penny - much appreciated :)

As a quick update on this, I hope to install the new board software over the Thanksgiving holiday. Some things will be different, but there shouldn't be anything that will freak anybody out (at least not like last time).

I still can't get the User CP functions to fail in Quick Links on any Mac browser, but hopefully that problem will be solved for everyone else.

Thanks!

Aaaaaaaand, User CP is back! Enjoy.

Gabriella 11-21-2006 07:27 PM

Aah Penny, you are my star. I was trying to think of a line from Penny Lane then but I'm drawing a blank... ;)

Thanks for sorting it!
