Re-Watching
*If this should be merged into another thread, go for it!
I've been re-watching ANGEL on netflix streaming. I forgot how good a show it was. I love how much better Angel is on this show. He was so dull and flat on BUFFY but he's just a delightful, interesting, funny, character. I forgot how much Angel and Cordelia love each other and how sweet their friendship was. I am struck by how the writers could never quite figure out Cordelia's tone. They wanted to make her a stronger, more noble, more selfless character, but could never resist a change to let her old Sunnydale self re-service, esp for the sake of a laugh (I just finished watching when they go into Lorne Green's dimension and she has moments of deep materialism and self obsession that don't entirely ring true). I will be excited to see whatever things I end up noticing on this re-watch! |
Okay so in season 3 Cordelia takes a vaca and then Wesley does that thing with Connor....
Does the show ever have a moment where Wesley and Cordelia have a moment, they talk, she forgives or doesn't forgive his actions? It seems weird that two such close friends who shared so much wouldn't have any sort of scene together. It is like they just dropped that deep friendship at some point in season 3 season 4. |
Angel went off the rails way before that, but yeah, the way the entire group who wasn't Angel was treated in season 3 and on was weird.

When did it go off the rails for you?
I am still finding it enjoyable (beast has killed the sun) and I feel like this is about the point the season stopped working for me. |

For me, it went off the rails with the trip to Pylea. It just didn't fit the rest of the show, it felt like a spoof of Spamalot. Cordy acted like an absolute greedy moron which negated all her character growth, and it introduced Fred. It was all downhill from there.
