Just received this alert. It's from Ausiello Report:
Source (http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/TVGuide-Editors-Blog/Ausiello-Report/Ausiello-Scoop-Buffy/800036119)
Eliza Dushku may be bunking with some old friends when she moves into Joss Whedon's Dollhouse next season. According to multiple sources, several Buffyverse grads are being considered for the eight supporting roles now being cast.
Whedon confirmed this unbelievably fraktacular turn of events moments before taking the stage at Paley Fest's Buffy tribute last Thursday. "I've read a couple of people [from the Buffyverse]," he told me, "but I'm not going to say who."
Although this would seem to contradict comments the Buffy master made to me last fall, in which he said that his "first instinct is to probably [cast] new people because I'm already reuniting with Eliza and I don't want it to seem like a house party," Whedon insists his position hasn't changed.
"It's not a hard and fast rule," clarifies the auteur, who just completed penning Dollhouse's one-hour premiere. "I just want to make sure I get the right people. And I don't want to give the impression that it's just me and my friends having a party. Some [Buffyverse alums] might work out fine. But I'm not going to just seek out people that I already know are great. That would be lazy."
You know what I say? There's nothin' wrong with being lazy if it means Whedon reuniting with the likes of James Marsters, Charisma Carpenter and Julie Landau. Of course, that's not to say they're the Buffyverse vets in the running for Dollhouse. That's not to say they aren't either. See how I protected myself there?
As always, we have to take this with a grain of salt. I'm not sure what to think. I mean, it would be awesome if he auditioned CC, but audtioning almost all Buffy alum for all the supporting roles and having TOO many Buffy/Angel alum in 'Dollhouse' could be bad for the show. Yes? No?

Very interesting. Definitely a direct result of the reunion. Or just wishful thinking.
If this is the case, maybe Joss and Charisma have buried the hatchet. :chainsaw:

I dunno. After all the crap Joss pulled before, I'm not sure I'd trust him. Then again, it could be good for her career.

My issue would be more along the lines of well it's CC so I have to watch but...it's the asshat, so I really don't want to watch.
IF CC is in Dollhouse this would fall into the category of "Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it" (for me). I want CC to have a show that I can watch on a weekly basis but I'm so done with Joss.
However, in theory, if Dollhouse had a couple of Buffy alum in the show, I don't think it would be a big distraction. I guess it would depend on who and how many?

I'm not sure I'm up for another Joss show, happy as I would be if CC got a part. I'd watch, but reluctantly. I'd also find it pretty distracting if there were too many Buffyverse actors in one show again. If I saw NB and ED and CC in the same room, I'd be looking for Xander and Faith and Cordelia to interact and I'd be somehow disappointed when they didn't act like those characters.
Joss could go on to make forty more successful shows and it wouldn't interest me in the least, not like BtVS/AtS does.

I definitely agree. I'm torn, as well. That's what has me a little iffy about it. Of course, this is just going by "sources", at the moment. I still don't trust Joss when it comes to CC, after what happened. Sure, it's all in the past, but a lot of us were left upset and to this day, some of us, still, don't like Joss. It's like, will he pull this crap on her, again? I guess we have to wait and see if this is a possibility.

I don't know :\
I'm happy but at the same time I'm tempted to pull my hair.
If it's true and CC is in the show, I'll watch it certainly and I can only hope for a good role and a good character. I think I cannot put up with the destruction of her character once again. And I will have no more hair and it will be very disturbing and annoying -___-
If she have no role in Dollhouse, I will have to wait till a new role, hoping for the hundredth time for a regular role or a recurring and not a guest star.
I don't know.

My uninformed opinion is this is likely 92.814% wishful thinking on Ausiello's part, based on Whedon not saying flat out that no former Cordy-verse actors will show up on Dollhouse.

I'm a bit skeptical on this. It'd be way too obvious for Joss to have other people from the Buffyverse there. But then, it's possible he'll do it anyway. Whether he'll pick CC, though, is another matter.

My uninformed opinion is that SamIAm's uninformed opinion is correct.
Whedon never flat out answers anything if he thinks that being coy and vague may result in increased publicity and (more importantly) may result in his legions of online fan-boys and girls working themselves into a frenzy of speculation, all the while praising his genius. He's sort of predictable that way.

The 'lazy' comment got a scoff from me this coming from the person who's solution to a pregnancy was a character death.

yeah probably wishful thinking but i'd watch it if she were going to be on it

I'd think Charisma is one of the less likely people to secure an ongoing role on the show, not just because I don't think she and Joss are 100% close, but also because I don't see her as someone ideally suited to the show. If Joss is reusing B-verse actors, it's more likely he'd have a role for someone like Tom Lenk, or Seth Green if he could get him. And of course, there's always room for more Amy Acker in a Joss production.

An obvious candidate.
And if the show takes off, her character will probably be spinned off into her own series. Maybe it's just sinus headaches, but I can see it happening in my mind's eye :P

So, this has nothing to do with Nora and her children? Eh, the plot doesn't really excite me much. Will probably not be tuning in, but I hope that Charisma can land a role. She needs to be working more.

Well, isn't this just interesting?
Joss Whedon reports on his website that “Angel” icon Amy Acker (“Alias” “Drive”) has been cast in Whedon’s coming Fox series “Dollhouse” as Dr. Claire Saunders.
Acker joins the project alongside a number of “Angel” vets, including writer-producers Whedon, Tim Minear, Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain, as well as “Dollhouse” lead Eliza Dushku – who played Faith on both “Angel” and “Buffy The Vampire Slayer.”

Funny, Amy, Joss' pet, was hired for 'Dollhouse', but CC wasn't. Oh yeah, that's right...it's a Joss and Minear show. I should have known. This just makes me not want to watch it at ALL now. I was going to give it a chance. Now, I'm not interested. This new casting news made the decision for me.
ANGEL ICON?!? ANGEL ICON? You've got to be kidding me.

ANGEL ICON?!?
*snort* yeah, okay. all i can say is, no surprise there. was too, going to give it a chance but screw that. There are several other awesome shows out there. And I'm sure CC will get her turn very soon, where she will be appreciated and treated with the respect that she so well deserves. ;)

Anyway, good for her. A job is a job is a job.

I am with you.
What is the matter? Summer Glau wasn't available? I am sure if How I Met Your Mother gets cancelled, Alyson Hannigan will be the newest "doll" to join the show. And what happened to his whole spiel about not getting lazy and casting more Whedonverse people?
I am glad CC isn't a part of this project. With Tim Minear on board now too, I doubt it will get more than a 13 episode run.

I've got nothing against Amy, really, but you just know the show will increasingly revolve around her more than Eliza.

I know nothing of this show but I can already picture AA's character -
slightly nutty, tends to engage in babbling and/or baby talk.
Cute, with lots of nose scrunching.
Skinnnnny, with tons of bones sticking out.

Joss Whedon reports on his website that “Angel” icon Amy Acker (“Alias” “Drive”) has been cast in Whedon’s coming Fox series “Dollhouse” as Dr. Claire Saunders.
Ha-HA!

There's time to bring her in. They still haven't gotten to casting the psychotic, rogue doll that'll go around killing people, and that's gotta be in there somewhere.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to laughing at the obviousness of it all...

No, she isn't available. Terminator has already been picked up for a second season apparently.
Hmm reason number 514 not to watch this show.
1) its Joss
2) its on FOX
3) its Joss (wait I said that already)
4) show does not interest me
5) NO CC

.
512) Angel Icon?!?! What the...???
513) Amy Acker is on it
514) BTVS reunion
Well you get the idea!! :)
AA an Angel icon...ok. I highly disagree. Its ironic but I never liked Fred that much. I remember watch the episode 'Fredless' and thinking 'oh Fred's going to leave...fine with me'. Ok I was really wrong about that one.
I didn't like her in Alias either.
I like Eliza...but I can't help thinking about Faith when I see her (or in True Lies).

I am actually glad Summer Glau is on T:SCC and not on Dollhouse. And yes Terminator just got picked up. http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/TVGuide-Editors-Blog/Ausiello-Report/Ausiello-Scoop-Fox/800037914
The best thing I like about all this is the following from Joss
"I'm shocked that any part of our casting process hasn't been leaked somehow. And though I'm a fan of secrets... Dr. Claire Saunders will be played by... Amy Acker."
Um... shocked? I think everyone here knew that Amy Acker was going to have a role...
ETA: As much as I love her and think she's brilliant - I'm laying down money on Julie Benz appearing before the end of the first season.

Isn't JB still on Dexter?
I had no interest in Dollhouse even with Helo but could AA get cast in a different type of role one in awhile? I caught her on L&O:CI a couple of weeks back and she pretty much played the same roll as Fred S4/S5.

Y'know what I'd love? An appearance from Stephanie Romanov. I haven't seen her anywhere for a long time, and she'd be a perfect for a role in this show. Much more so than AA.

Never watched Alias...personally the whole premise of the show bothered me but I'm a huge fan of spy novels. That's pretty much why I never liked the Mission Impossible movies.

I did not like her on Alias...or S5 of Alias either.
