View Full Version : Charisma to Appear in Celebrity Apprentice
I'm not a huge fan of celeb reality shows but this could be a huge opportunity for CC so i'm all for that. Link below:

The TV Guide blogger (further down at the same link) says this will be a benefit for charity, which is a great idea and makes me considerably more amenable to the idea of actually watching it. (I probably like CC more than I can't stand Trump, but still.)
ETA: My manners suck. Thanks, Shar!

While my love for CC is enough to overcome my disgust of all things reality, AND 'The Donald', I WILL be watching this show with my finger on the fast-forward button.
At least this should get bring CC some attention from the main-stream masses.
Maybe open up some opportunities for her.
You're welcome.
I'm in the same mind as ye - I'm delighted Charisma will be on our screens and it will bring her mainstream attention and hopefully it will lead to her landing her a spot on a TV show. I just don't like vehicle she is using whenever I hear of a celeb taking part in these types of shows you can’t help but think is this all they can get now. Still I’ll be rooting for her and hope she does well.

Oh no!!! Please tell me she is not really considering going down that road... I love you CC, but this can only end in disaster.... but if you do join The Apprentice, I will watch you till the Trump fires you. Then I will send hate mail to The Donald. :iamsmilin
In all seriousness, I hope Charisma can pull this off and spawn a more lucrative gig. (I hope) :noid:

I never see this reality here in Italy.
I don't think this is a great idea. I hope in a better tv or movie role for her.

I do like the idea that it's for charity. The confirmed guests include Danica Patrick (up-and-comer in high-end racing and something of an icon already) and Tony Hawk (emphatically needs neither the money nor the publicity). So it doesn't seem to be shaping as another "Surreal Life" or anything.
One question is whether it would interfere with CC's already confirmed return gig on Greek. It could be that she does one or the other.

There were rumors that Mr. Trump has just merged with Wolfram & Hart...
Do you think this is a ploy to turn Cordy, I mean Charisma, to the dark side?

This, from ausiello,
Question: I just watched the season finale of Greek and OMG! Got any scoop on what is going to happen next season?— Robin
Ausiello: As a matter of fact I do! The scandal that enveloped the Zeta Beta house won't be going away next semester. As a result, the national chapter sends in a bubbly, rule-abiding consultant to whip the girls into shape, and you're never going to believe who's been cast: the ridiculously funny Senta Moses from My So-Called Life! She'll be around for a handful of episodes, beginning with next year's midseason premiere.
makes me think that CC will just be around for the premier to bring on this new character. I hope I'm wrong, but that's the way I read it

I really wish she wouldn't do it. Like someone else said, even if she isn't desperate for work, it sorta makes her look that way; even if it is for charity.
But since it sounds like the Greek thing didn't work out, I guess it's better than nothing. I'll be depending on you guys to cap it though. I just can't do The Donald, no matter who's up there with him.

I'm on the fence about this one. I don't like Donald Trump and I don't watch reality TV. The show is slumping in the ratings and this seems like an attempt to bolster it.
That said, it gets CC in front of more new viewers and because it's for charity, it has a very positive vibe. Plus, it's probably paying pretty well. :)
I'm gonna give it the benefit of the doubt. Who knows? It may be fun. And, fingers crossed, it'll get her a plum role as a regular on a wonderful show!

It's possible. The Greek site itself seems to indicate that CC's character will be around in a more serious way, but maybe they -- and the director -- got a little carried away before ink was dry.
Or, it could be that the Apprentice deal trumps (pardon the pun) the ABC Family deal, which would only make sense. (One of these things is on a major network.)

I'm the same. I hate Donald Trump. Hate!!! However, it's for Charity and it's on a major network, so it can only be good for CC. But Donald Trump...ugh! Why can't she be on "Dancing with the Stars"?

Why couldn't she be in other shows with a lot of exposure like:
Heroes
Lost
Desperate Housewives
Law & Order
Dancing with The Stars
CSI
My Name is Earl
30 Rock
Scrubs
Two and a Half Men
Shark
Without a Trace
Cold Case
Ugly Betty
The Office
How I Met Your Mother
NCIS
Grey's Anatomy
Ghost Whisperer
Criminal Minds
Supernatural
Smallville
Numb3rs
The UnitOr maybe in in the new shows like:
Chuck
Life
Pushing Daisies
Bionic Woman
Journeyman
Cane
Dirty Sexy Money
Reaper
Gossip Girl
Big ShotsStill if Charisma will be part of The Apprentice, I will still watch it, hoping for a Car Wash Task or something like it. We should all support her no matter what.

I am the lone Apprentice lover around here? LOL
I love the Apprentice. Love it. It is one of only two reality shows I have applied for. (The Apprentice app is INSANE).
I think Trump is the sleeziest, most ego-centric, crawls on his belly in the grass man in the world. And I love it! He is underhanded and ruthless. Joining W&H, he is one of the damn Senior Partners. LOL
I am really looking forward to this, especially since it is for charity. I don't think it is a desperate move. CC probably saw it as a way to help people and we know she has a great heart.
They will probably shoot it over a couple of weeks. Besides, Greek doesn't start taping for a while so she has plenty of time. Reality shows are cheap, easy, and fast to produce. Hopefully, this will give her a lot of good exposure as it has for other stars who have done reality shows.

I have a questions: Is she guaranteed an appearance fee to donate to her charity?
I doubt she will do this unless the producers would give her some compensation for her charity. :read:

I have to say, I like the fact that The Apprentice does require strategy and acumen from its contestants and not just sheer cutthroat self-interest. Looking at comments around the Web from CC's appearance in Toronto, i've seen people sound a note that has come up before, which is that Charisma in person seems "a lot smarter than she lets on."
One thing that got me excited about the Greek role was the promise that CC would play a character whom we and everyone else know is sharp from the outset. If The Donald gives her an opportunity to show off her chops in that regard, I'm all for it.

Ugh. Ugh ugh ugh. My love for all things CC vs. how much I can't stand Trump.
Not sure which side is gonna win out on this one. Even for CC, I don't know if I can stomach a whole season of Trump.

I don't really have any interest in The Apprentice, even with CC on it. But I can see why she'd do it, and I wish her well. I could see her doing well on such a show.

Like most everyone else here, I don't know if I can get past Donald hate to watch CC, but I'll try.
I also don't see it as "desperate" nor will, I think, most viewers. Before "Surreal Life" came on board, many game shows did celebrity charity versions (including Jeopardy, Family Feud, Wheel of Fortune...). These were attended by very well known stars as well as the lesser known. The reason for all of them, though, was the chance to win something for charity and the fact that, win or lose, their charity would receive something.

The difference, IMO, between doing a charity show on Jeopardy or another game show is that it is very short-lived and it's basically still a "celebrity" being a celebrity. Shows like the Apprentice and Celebrity Mole, etc., is an entire season worth of seeing a celebrity as a real person. They're not making just a witty remark or a scripted joke that makes them look good. It's a big risk to let everyone, H'wood included, see who you can be including things like selfish, back-stabbing, catty, lazy, dumb, etc. which is what the editing on shows like this try to do. Showing a person's good qualities is rarely entertaining and they know it. And I'm sure CC won't have any control over how the show is edited. How many reality shows have you seen where you thought, "I really like that person?" It happens, but it's rare. Usually I sit there and think how big an a-hole or arrogant or rude or mean these people are.
And if you've seen Celebrity Mole, then you know they don't slack off on the editing practices because they're celebrities. If anything I think they purposely make them look more stupid or mean because they are celebrities.
Now The Apprentice has a certain class to it above that of Celebrity Mole, of course, but it is a competition in a team setting and that tends to bring out the worst and best in people. I can only hope CC's class shows through even after the editing is done.

You actually make a really good point, Debs. But I know with a lot of reality shows, they edit it so that the contestants are like characters. You always have the sweet, naive girl, the overbearing male, the snake in the grass, the villian, etc.
Watching The Apprentice, they are usually pretty good with the editing. I will never forget Troy, from S1, who was just a down home good old country boy who was as sweet as apple pie. He was like that on the show, how he was edited. Then, reading more about him, I found out he took care of his mother and his adopted mentally disabled sister (he raised her and when their mother died, he took over her care), I knew it just wasn't clever editing for him.
There have been a few other Apprentice candidates where what you saw on screen was totally how they were in real life (Kelly from S2 for example. Or even Omarosa. She is as vile in real life as she was on the show). So I am at least cautiously optimistic. The people with a good heart, usually, no matter how much editing, still come out looking good. And again, it is for charity, so while they still want to get ratings, they might slightly more forgiving since the celebs aren't doing it to fatten their own pockets.
Again, cautiously optimistic. :)

I wouldn't be too worried about her holding her own or coming off in a bad light if it weren't *this* fandom, I don't think. I shouldn't care about others' comments about her, but when I come across people who denegrate her personally because they have a hatred for who she played in the verse, it still irks me. And I fear this show will only instigate more hateful comments and bile tossed at her. It's possible, of course, that she'll come off great and change the minds of some of these people, but I'm not that optimistic. In any case, it's my problem and worry.
In a perfect world, CC would get that Emmy-worthy part on a major network and shut everyone up once and for all. I'm just disappointed that won't be happening this season.
OTOH, I'm one of the few (like you, Livvie) that does enjoy The Apprentice, so having CC to look at while I watch won't be a hardship for me. :D

You are completely, totally, 100% right. I was just talking to someone earlier about how as this fandom shrinks, it seems nothing but the nutters and bullshit are left. So I can totally see some of those people who can't seperate reality from a televsion show just looking for a reason. Though, let's be honest, they could find fault with the way she drinks her water (and they probably have).
I am with you though. It'll come. I have faith that karma will come around.

Loathe as I am to admit it, I love The Apprentice - don't like Trump particularly but the show is always entertaining and I'd LOVE to see CC in a celeb version. My only fear is that she's a wonderful person offscreen and only fantastic at playing a bitch in onscreen roles so I hope they just let her be herself instead of suggesting she play the 'diva' of the group because of her acting ability and what not.
Other than that, I'm all for it! Thanks for the news!

That was my exact thought (and fear) when I read this part of the article:
"Charisma is ready to make like Alexis Carrington and bring out the claws if need be," an insider tells me. "It should be very interesting."
It sounds like that's exactly what they have planned and, while it could make for a fun show, the idiots in this fandom won't be able to distinguish between the act and the real person. As always. *sigh*

Well, I'll mention only that if CC ends up doing this show, she's looking at a potential fandom that will leave in very deep shade the 4.5 million that seem to be the maximum audience for any Whedon project, anywhere. I'm just sayin'. NBC is the serious big time, baby. It may be time to think in terms of a much bigger pond.

Although I know it would be an act, I would love to see,
Charisma give Omarosa a 'Glare' like she gave Lyle Gorch in BTVS 'Homecoming',
and/or
Have Paris make a stupid suggestion and get the (I can't just... torture her. ) face from 'You're Welcome'
and/or
(And this would make my heart go pitty-pat), She gives 'The Donald' a Pffft.
This would make her a hero to millions

My first reaction was to cringe, cause celebrities and reality tv don't match. At least from the ones I've seen. AND most importantly I cannot stand Trump.
Still, I'm gonna tune in to support CC. I shouldn't be that worried. After all, she is a wonderful person and that charecterisitc is sure to be seen. Plus, I haven't seen her on tv in a while I need my CC fix. ;)
And look at her starmeter climb. :)

Lucy Lawless did that singing show (Singing with the stars??), and Charisma is in much the same position - i.e. mostly famous for a now defunct "genre" show. It certainly did not seem to do LL any harm so I'm happy. Charisma also appears to be in the happy position of being popular with most of the TV reviewers.
I wonder whether we in the U.K will get to see it?

So, I'm thinking this show is like an American celeb version of the show we have over here called The Apprentice with Sir Alan Sugar and his famous "You're fired!" line at the helm. It's basically all about ordinary folks competing in enterprising tasks to win a lucrative employment position in Sugar's massive empire. This show is like that but with celebs, yes? Do correct me if I'm wrong.
Now normally I find celebrity versions of reality shows even more putrid that the original show which spawned them (Celeb Big Brother 5 UK anyone? Way to advertise Britain to the world and make us all look like bigoted, racist morons!) but this one sounds rather more passable (a) because it's for charity and (b) because Charisma will be on it. I think she could do very well and it may just be the exposure she needs.

Sort of, we have the same show over here with Donald Trump, right down to the "Your Fired" line. So, this is a Celeb version of that show.
Now, I wonder which came first the Brit or US version?

The US. It started in 2004, with the UK following in 2005.

My first thought - "Oh no."
My second thought - "Well, of course I'll watch. Haven't seen the show since the second season, but I'll watch for as long as CC is on."
My third thought - "Oh no."
With that out of the way, I'm going to hope for the best. Best case scenario is that she makes it far (final 4 or so), and the suits at NBC are so impressed with her winning personality that they decide to put her in a high profile pilot in the Spring, thereby ensuring she's acting on our television screens in the Fall of '08.
