She's done it for charity before -- I'm trying to say in conjunction with her appearance at ComicCon in San Diego, but I'm probably wrong.

How do these things work?
Does the actor get a flat fee for appearing and everything else is extra; or does s/he get a percentage from the photos, autographs, etc. that are sold?

Or does the actor just get the fee and the con gets the money for the extras?

Well, it's not a con, which is where the difference comes.

Cons they get paid a flat fee, and then depending on the contract will sometimes get a percentage on the photo ops, and the sale of their 8x10s (cons always offer a free autograph, but sell extra 8x10 photos which the actor often gets a percentage of).

For signing events, like Collectormania, a lot of the big stars get appearance fees and then a chunk of the autograph money. Some just get their part of the autograph money and nothing else.

The difference of course is that an event like Collectormania is solely a signing event (cons the autographs aren't the main focus at all). They don't charge an entrance fee, so whether the guests want to charge or not they have to or the event runners won't make any money of the guest, which is the whole purpose of the guest.

I may now be going. The temptation to have her sign my VM stuff is getting rather temping.

Could get her to sign another mag ad, but think I only have the huge magazines left to get signed, and that's a lot to cart around up to MK!
