The folks at www.amiannoying.com now have started a section devoted to Angel the Series.

Here are their reasons why Angel the Series might be considered annoying:
1.) It was never as good as Buffy.
2.) It was less popular than Buffy.
3.) In season two, Angel was outed as a Barry Manilow fan.
4.) The episode "Spin the Bottle" was a ripoff of the Buffy episode "Tabula Rasa."
5.) Since they couldn't get Sarah Michelle Gellar back for appearances in two of the season five episodes they used a Buffy stunt double.
6.) Joss Whedon fired Charisma Carpenter after the fourth season because he claimed there was nothing left for Cordelia to do.
7.) They killed off Doyle only a few episodes into the series.
8.) Many fans found the Angel/Cordelia romance forced.
9.) Charisma looked much better as a brunette than a blonde.
10.) It had a doomed, tragic ending.

Their reasons for why it might not be annoying:
1.) It was unjustly cancelled in its fifth season despite being second only to Smallville in the 18-34 demographic.
2.) The cancellation left them with only six episodes to wrap up the storylines.
3.) Whedon played Numfar, "which was a character enjoyed by all."
4.) Wesley went from prissy to badass in five seasons.
5.) The show developed a cultlike following.
6.) Glenn Quinn died almost three years to the date after his character died on the show.
7.) It established itself as being more adult and darker than Buffy.

They also have the ranking of least annoying to most annoying:
1.) James Marsters - Least Annoying
2.) Stephanie Romanov
3.) Charisma Carpenter
4.) Glenn Quinn
5.) David Boreanaz
6.) Joss Whedon
7.) Angel the Series
8.) Alexis Denisof
9.) Mercedes McNab
10.) Amy Acker - Most Annoying

They don't have files yet on J. August Richards, Vincent Kartheiser, or Andy Hallett.

As to why ATS might be annoying, I'll agree with 5,6,7,9, and 10.

1.) Personally I thought overall Angel was a much better series than Buffy.
2.) Angel's finale had a higher TV rating than Buffy's.
3.) That doesn't bother me one way or the other.
4.) Angel ripped off several plotlines from Buffy, who cares?
8.) The person who typed that must be a B/Aer.

As to why ATS is not annoying:
1.) can anyone verify whether that info is accurate?
2.) They didn't wrap up the storylines in the final six episodes.
3.) Numfar was a stupid character.
4.) That was cool to watch.
5.) I give credit where its due on that one.
6.) That was kind of creepy.
7.) I agree.

Here are their reasons why Angel the Series might be considered annoying:
1.) It was never as good as Buffy.
I've never agreed with this. I would put up the first 3 seasons, half of season 4 and about 8 eps of season 5 from AtS up against all 7 seasons of Buffy. I've always thought AtS was of higher quality overall.

2.) It was less popular than Buffy.
how does that make AtS annoying?

3.) In season two, Angel was outed as a Barry Manilow fan.
Seriously? This of all things was worth listing?

4.) The episode "Spin the Bottle" was a ripoff of the Buffy episode "Tabula Rasa."
I've loved "Spin The Bottle" upon first viewing. Most tv is a re-hash of something else. It worked in this instance.

5.) Since they couldn't get Sarah Michelle Gellar back for appearances in two of the season five episodes they used a Buffy stunt double.
What was annoying about that ep was that they felt the need to bring Buffy into it at all.

6.) Joss Whedon fired Charisma Carpenter after the fourth season because he claimed there was nothing left for Cordelia to do.
ITA on this point. I'll never forgive Whedon for that. (Yes, I'm aware he prolly doesn't care.)

7.) They killed off Doyle only a few episodes into the series.
I know I'm in the minority but Doyle dying worked for me.

8.) Many fans found the Angel/Cordelia romance forced.
Forced?? I have no idea what show they were watching. But there were clues from Season1 and the CC/DB sexual chemistry was not to be denied. If that romance was never supposed to be noted in their scenes together then blame it on the actors for oozing chemistry.
9.) Charisma looked much better as a brunette than a blonde.
This didn't make the show as a whole annoying. But it's true.

10.) It had a doomed, tragic ending.
The last ep was one of the few of season 5 I liked. No loved. Even champions aren't promised a happy ending.

Their reasons for why it might not be annoying:
1.) It was unjustly cancelled in its fifth season despite being second only to Smallville in the 18-34 demographic.
2.) The cancellation left them with only six episodes to wrap up the storylines.
4.) Wesley went from prissy to badass in five seasons.
5.) The show developed a cultlike following.
6.) Glenn Quinn died almost three years to the date after his character died on the show.
7.) It established itself as being more adult and darker than Buffy.
Some of these are too stupid to even comment on. HOw does GQ death even factor in to how annoying the show was? 4,5, and 7 I can agree with.

They also have the ranking of least annoying to most annoying:
1.) James Marsters - Least Annoying
2.) Stephanie Romanov
3.) Charisma Carpenter
4.) Glenn Quinn
5.) David Boreanaz
6.) Joss Whedon
7.) Angel the Series
8.) Alexis Denisof
9.) Mercedes McNab
10.) Amy Acker - Most Annoying

I didn't usually find any of the characters annoying regularly. Until Fred and then Harmony were made regulars. Should have NEVER happened. Lorne either. Spike wasn't annoying but he shouldn't have been a series regular during season 5. I was frustrated by the way Joss & Co. seemed to lose interest in the show. That was truly annoying.

Im suprised Connor/Vincent was not put for most annoying.

1.) It was never as good as Buffy.
It beat Buffy at every point.

2.) It was less popular than Buffy.
Big Brother was popular, so was Winx Club and Bratz. That doesn't make them less annoying.

3.) In season two, Angel was outed as a Barry Manilow fan.
This is the number three reason? *headdesk*

4.) The episode "Spin the Bottle" was a ripoff of the Buffy episode "Tabula Rasa."
I always found 'Spin the Bottle' better than 'Tabula Rasa'. It was wittier and better performed.

5.) Since they couldn't get Sarah Michelle Gellar back for appearances in two of the season five episodes they used a Buffy stunt double.
Who cares? SMG back on Angel would have been hell.

6.) Joss Whedon fired Charisma Carpenter after the fourth season because he claimed there was nothing left for Cordelia to do.
This should be the number one reason who Joss Whedon is annoying.

7.) They killed off Doyle only a few episodes into the series.
Worked for me too.

8.) Many fans found the Angel/Cordelia romance forced.
What does that make B/A?! :eyecrazy:

9.) Charisma looked much better as a brunette than a blonde.
SO true. Nevertheless, it isn't a reason why Angel, the show, is annoying.

10.) It had a doomed, tragic ending.
It had a kick-ass ending. Loved, loved, loved it. WAY better than BTVS's Lord of the Rings-ending.

Not annoying:
3.) Whedon played Numfar, "which was a character enjoyed by all."
I found him seriously annoying.

4.) Wesley went from prissy to badass in five seasons.
Correction: He went from Sissy!Wes to Ass!Pansy!Wes to Rouge!Traitor!Wes to Creepy!Stalker!Wes to Fatherissue!Pretty!Wes.

1.) James Marsters - Least Annoying
2.) Stephanie Romanov
3.) Charisma Carpenter
4.) Glenn Quinn
5.) David Boreanaz
6.) Joss Whedon
7.) Angel the Series
8.) Alexis Denisof
9.) Mercedes McNab
10.) Amy Acker - Most Annoying
AGREED!

They don't have files yet on J. August Richards, Vincent Kartheiser, or Andy Hallett.

I didn't think a television show could be annoying. I thought only people were annoying.

1.) It was never as good as Buffy.

Completely subjective opinion. Personally, I think ATS was far better.

2.) It was less popular than Buffy.

Perhaps true, but irrelevant.

3.) In season two, Angel was outed as a Barry Manilow fan.

Huh?

4.) The episode "Spin the Bottle" was a ripoff of the Buffy episode "Tabula Rasa."

Nonsense! Both shows used amnesia as a plot device, but the motivations, methods and long term effects were completely different. You can't honestly claim that Lorne inadvertently summoning the Beast and then Jasmine, thus causing widespread death and destruction leading to AI joining W&H, and eventually causing their deaths was the same as Tara breaking up with Willow for a few eps.

5.) Since they couldn't get Sarah Michelle Gellar back for appearances in two of the season five episodes they used a Buffy stunt double.
I'm with the 'bringing Buffy back for any reason is annoying' crowd.

6.) Joss Whedon fired Charisma Carpenter after the fourth season because he claimed there was nothing left for Cordelia to do.

Yes, that was annoying. Losing Cordelia was a major blow to the show.

7.) They killed off Doyle only a few episodes into the series.

I liked Doyle, but I really don't know what they could have done with him in the long term. His only real purpose was to have visions, and Cordelia took over that without a hitch.

8.) Many fans found the Angel/Cordelia romance forced.

So? I found B/A after highschool to be forced.

9.) Charisma looked much better as a brunette than a blonde.

True.

10.) It had a doomed, tragic ending.

It had a great ending. These people were warriers, what do these fans want, Angel settling down with Spike in a darling cottage with a white picket fence and puppies gamboling in the yard?

Their reasons for why it might not be annoying:

1.) It was unjustly cancelled in its fifth season despite being second only to Smallville in the 18-34 demographic.
Again, yes.

2.) The cancellation left them with only six episodes to wrap up the storylines.

Huh?

3.) Whedon played Numfar, "which was a character enjoyed by all."

Please, he was in one scene in an inferior ep.

4.) Wesley went from prissy to badass in five seasons.

Wesley turned into an unlikable creepy jerk. I was rooting for Vail.

5.) The show developed a cultlike following.

Huh?

6.) Glenn Quinn died almost three years to the date after his character died on the show.
Once more with feeling: Huh?

7.) It established itself as being more adult and darker than Buffy.

Agreed.

They also have the ranking of least annoying to most annoying:
1.) James Marsters - Least Annoying

I came into Angel from the BTVS fandom at the end of S3. Now that I've seen all the eps in order, I understand why so many ATS fans resented Spike. Must disagree.

2.) Stephanie Romanov

How does she rate above Cordelia?

3.) Charisma Carpenter

Should be #1.

4.) Glenn Quinn

The guy was only on 9 eps in S1, give me a break!

5.) David Boreanaz

Nothing to add.

6.) Joss Whedon

He was only on one ep - he shouldn't be on this list at all.

7.) Angel the Series

?

8.) Alexis Denisof

Lorne should be in this spot.

9.) Mercedes McNab

Hey, I liked Harmony!

10.) Amy Acker - Most Annoying

I'll agree with that most heartily. Fred was an irritating, useless, idiotic character from day one. Although you could make a case for Connor.

They don't have files yet on J. August Richards, Vincent Kartheiser, or Andy Hallett.

Gunn was actually cool once, so I'll give him a pass.

3.) In season two, Angel was outed as a Barry Manilow fan.

Huh?

He sung Mandy, didn't he?
