Wah! Me Too! :) Also, the new Stargate episodes with no commercials. Might have to lurk for those as well. :bounce:

Isn't Comic-con in San Diego?

Someone ask about Voodoo Moon, please :)

Trillian - What's this about commerical free SG-1? On Sci-Fi or at the con? Can't wait for the premiere, caught the promo for it and it looks like it's going to be a great season.

Admittedly I'm still unsure of the whole BB thing, I hope he's not being brought in to overshadow the rest of the gang, I won't like that.

So, this is for her work at Voodoo Moon. But one question.... the "representatives from Anchor Bay will showcase their upcoming DVD releases".... that means CC's movie is going direct to DVD :(....

Also, they are showing "Bones" on that Convention ....maybe a CC/DB reunion?

Our very own Jeff Marriotte will be there as well, heading up a few panels. A few of the Cordy-verse folks will be there as well - Tim Minear, Jane Espenson, and David Fury, as well as Amber Benson and Joss. There will also be a bunch of folks from BSG too.

I think we all knew there was a more than good chance that it would be going direct to DVD so I don't think it's that big of a surprise. I'll still definitely be renting it whenever it's released. Hope it's soon. Meanwhile I wonder if they'll be showing it on the Sci-Fi channel. I know they've showed both Alien Apocalypse and All Souls Day recently on Sci-Fi, which were a couple of the other titles mentioned.

I'm not sure, some of the movies listed came out last year in limited runs. So it's possible (from the wording) that they're talking about the DVD releases of movies that either had limited runs last year or aired on cable this year (I just saw "The Fallen" on Sci-Fi) plus new movies that are coming out. Or it could all be DVD releases. The only way to know for sure is to wait and see what they say at the con. This company is by far a Cult Company, no real big budget films to speak of but they've made some decent movies with good actors, so I don't think it's all bad.

IMDB has lines in their release information,
the first one is for Oct. 31, 3005,
and the 2nd one is for 2006 (limited release)

so maybe they're going to preview it on Holloween, then give it a limited theatrical release prior to the DVD release, maybe to build up some interest for the DVD

CFQ Summer Movie Preview—The editors of Cinefantastique/CFQ magazine present a preview of the summer's biggest films with insider anecdotes and trailers from the hottest upcoming genre films, along with coming attractions from CFQ Films’s new movies; Room 6 with Jerry O'Connell and Christine Taylor and The Darkroom with Lucy Lawless and Greg Grunberg.

When thay put the names in bold print, that means they're going to be there. Now, are you sure the 15th is cutting it too close? ;)

Ohhhhhh...fffffffudge. This would happen the year I'm following NIN around. Do I swing this? Something tells me that somehow I have to swing this. But can I?...

Bit o' trivia regarding Anchor Bay: They're the company that finally got Two-Lane Blacktop to DVD. TLB was a 1971 indie starring James Taylor, Dennis Wilson, and Warren Oates; until a few years ago it was the most requested movie never released to DVD according to a People magazine poll. The holdup was over legal rights to a buhscad of songs and broadcast snippets that were never cleared for an aftermarket release in the original permissions. Anchor Bay maneuvered through a veritable perfect storm of legal red tape to get this movie into sellthrough, for which a whole bunch of collectors will be eternally grateful.

Hey guys! Sorry this is a bit late, I promised the SDBUK the DB stuff first! Hopefully Jerry and LL will have more to add! We only caught Charisma on the Voodoo Moon Panel, at the time we weren't aware that she was going to be on the Veronica Mars Panel as well. Twas not listed. :)

Pics here (http://www.dizzycow.net/misc/cc1.gif), here (http://www.dizzycow.net/misc/cc2.jpg), here (http://www.dizzycow.net/misc/cc3.jpg) and here (http://www.dizzycow.net/misc/cc4.jpg)

Mr. Brody and Naomi Watts were the surprise guests for the KK panel. Which, unfortunately was crashed by Jack Black/Tenacious D fans who only wanted to talk to Mr. Black. Brody was even called "James" by one fan. :eyebrow: The most amusing thing, according to reports, was Jack Black singing his King Kong song, with Brody supplying the beats.

Okay, for the record, I only skipped out on Charisma. It was Harry Potter and Johnny, dude, and you know how I feel about them! Even for Charisma, there's no way I'll be sitting through something called "Voodo-Moon", so I feel my time was well spent. I was really counting on her being announced at the last minute for autographs, since that's where I would have wanted to see her, but to my knowledge, she didn't do any.

We really wanted to see the King Kong stuff on Saturday, but we didn't want to sit in Hall H all day. Besides, if we had, we would have had to sit through the <i>Serenity</i> panel, and listen to all of the "OMG, Joss!!! We worship you!!!" fans, and no one wants to sit through that again. Last year was more than enough.

Okay, I understand GoF. 'Cause...Potter. I'll give you that. ;) CB reminds me too much of Beetlejuice, for whatever reason (Hey, Burton, stop recycling! *g*). Even for Charisma, there's no way I'll be sitting through something called "Voodo-Moon", so I feel my time was well spent. Yeah, to be honest, it sounds like nothing of real interest was said. She looked really purdy, though.

PS - Lara, Corpse Bride is nothing like Beatlejuice. It looks really, really cool. They had a set from the movie there, and a guy filming a scene from the movie on it all week-end. Since it's stop motion, he'd move an eyebrow, then film it. Then move it back, and film it. So cool.

That sounds like an absolutely terrible job. I woulda been sobbing two minutes into it. "Can't we just use REAL people?!"

I might wait until CB is on DVD. Unless I hear some really awesome things about it, then I'll go. But GoF- I'm there. All I had to see was Mr. Radcliffe and I was there.

Was anyone in costume? It's not a Con if people weren't in costume.

Oh, tons of people. There was a whole contingent of Hogwarts' folks there at the preview, a ton of Star Wars people, way more Trekker's than last year, a few Captain Jack's, a Willie Wonka (JD version), no Buffy's or Spike's, but a couple of Illyaria's, then of course a passel of Batmen, a couple of Supermen, (and the new Superman movie looks AWESOME, btw) a few Wonder Women etc...

Just your usual con type folk.

Oh man, we ran down to H after Charisma and got in in time for the end of Natalie Portman, Harry Potter, Corpse Bride and the Fountain. I sat through the Lost panel even though I don't watch it -there was some discussion about a comic (being in spanish) and a polar bear. Huh. I was waiting for Stuart Townsend. The only panel I bailed early on was Atlantis so I could see Kevin Smith.

You were able to get in? We were lined up all the way to the parking structure to get in for that. I'm glad you were able to see both, but I wasn't willing to take the chance of missing it.

Didn't Natalie look cute with her buzz cut? And she's so tiny! I mean I knew she was small, but dude!

We had to pass up LOST in order to see Bryan Singer and the Superman Returns panel. That's what happens when you have your boyfriend tagging along. ;) But seriously, I'm glad we went, because that movie looks like it will be AWESOME.

I saw this posted

Wondering about Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman was on the mind of many con-goers. Whedon is writing a script for a movie and will direct the adventure, but the lead actress has yet to be cast. Uber-producer Joel Silver reportedly will helm the Wonder Woman flick.

In the Veronica Mars panel, a fan Friday directed a question to both Silver, executive producer of Veronica Mars, and Carpenter, a new cast member of the cult show, "Where's Wonder Woman?" To tons of applause, Charisma said to Joel: "I didn't set it up." But that's all that was said.

Charisma was better at the VM panel than at the one for Voodoo Moon, which, frankly, doesn't look too hot, and which she seemed to be going through the motions of acting enthused about. She looked great at both, though.

Well we all know Charisma isn't going to play Wonder Woman. Joss said, that there will be noone from the two shows that would be playing Wonder Woman. Thanks for the link.

Thats what I heard from certain members on the boards. They said, that she wasn't really talking on the Voodoo Moon panel but she was on VM panel. Which seemed odd, because Voodoo Moon is Charisma's movie.

To be honest I am not sure of that. If I recall right, Joss said "Its a movie not a party for my friends."

But yet on Buffy and Angel he made it a party for his friends, He had two actors from firefly as the bad guys on both his shows. Now granted I have no idea what the relationship is at the moment between Joss and CC, but Joss is but one out of a bunch of people who pick WW.

The studio could cast her over his head. Just because he is the writer and director doesnt mean he is the end all of the film. Its just Joss's 'fans' that push that myth.

Mr.Brightside

That's cool, I guess we just have to see what Joss has to say. Its all up to him and his descision to bring CC in to play Wonder Woman. Which I hope happens :D.

Actually, if you had read nodaskip's post, he was saying that it *wasn't* entirely up to Joss. So it's not all up to Joss.

Joss probably doesn't have the clout to cast someone against the wishes of the studio, but he probably does have the clout to veto someone, and I would assume his relationship with CC is still less than ideal. But even more importantly, they probably are looking for someone in her mid-20s for the role - when and if Joss actually writes the thing.

Just a bit more information from a poster at TWoP who says Charisma got a very nice reception and had several questions/comments directed at her, including one from a guy who got up simply to tell her she was awesome.

There was also a sweet story about a man in the audience who was in a wheelchair. He'd been raising his hand for a while but hadn't been noticed, other than by Charisma. She whispered something to Jason to let him know and he ended up getting up out of his seat to tell Rob Thomas so the man could get in his question.

Why the mid 20's? You would think Charisma was in her mid 20's. She has the perfect body to do this.

They are most likely looking to build a franchise which would require a younger actress that could play the part over 3 or 4 films. Not saying it's going to make it that far but the idea is to have them young so they won't have to worry about recasting an icon.

Not that I don't think a 40 year old woman can't be sexy or in perfect shape but it's Hollywood.

recently talking to 'now playing' magezine whedon said
'The story goes back to world war II. This will be in the modern day, but Wonder Woman will never be in the modern day'

what the hell does he mean by that, is WW going to be all flashback or what, or is this just joss taalking to hear himself speak, and not saying anything (as usual)

now back to the con,
i wonder if CC saw any of the other whedonverse actors there, DB, or Nicky, or Amber Benson

There's no way to know that, beyond the fact that she didn't appear with any of them. But there was certainly no shortage of BtVS/AtS actors there - not just the ones you mentioned, but also Seth Green and Julie Benz and Mercedes McNabb and Jonathan Woodward and several others.

There's an article on the TV panels (http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/features/20050718-9999-1c18karla.html) at the San Diego Union-Tribune Web site. It has a nice CC ref; SD seems to carry a lot of residual local pride for her. Emphasis mine:

With its second season beginning in fall, the critically acclaimed but ratings' challenged "Veronica Mars" does need more fans. But judging by Friday's raucous love-fest of a panel, which found the audience cheering through a greatest-hits reel and hooting happily at the photogenic leading men, it would be hard for "Veronica Mars" to find better fans than the ones it has now.

Summer-camp camaraderie was in abundance in room 6B, and the über-friendly cast members were definitely part of the gang. That included new guest performer Charisma Carpenter, a former Chargers cheerleader whose cult-TV track record ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel") made her the girl most likely to rock the "Veronica Mars" fans' world.

"What will you be playing?" one man wanted to know.

"A bitch," Carpenter said with a honeyed smile. "In a bikini."
