Movie producer JOEL SILVER is pursuing KIM BASINGER for the heroic title role in his film remake of classic comic book WONDER WOMAN.
After months of negotiations WARNER BROS have finally given DIE HARD film-maker Silver the go-ahead to start work on the delayed project, and he’s already recruited BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER writer JOSS WHEDON to pen the script.
Silver is now targetting Basinger to portray a more mature Wonder Woman, but will approach JESSICA BIEL if studio bosses decide to keep the superheroine youthful.
An insider tells website PAGESIX.COM, "Kim would be used if Wonder Woman is older, Jessica is if she’s younger."

Nothing personal, but Kim Basinger? Maybe in her Vicky Vale days, but now?

It's all about the sequels nowadays. IMO, they won't use Basinger because they won't be able to picture her in WW5 seven years from now.
Alhtough who knows, The Incredibles was about middle aged superheroes, and it did well. :)

It could be some passing the torch type thing with one wonder woman passing the golden lasso to the next.
Okay, now I need to read something good about Charisma's career. Anything?

I second that. It's been too long.

APPARENTLY JOSS WANTS JESSICA FOR THE PART
Question: Is Jessica Biel returning to 7th Heaven this season? — Derrell
Ausiello: Not if Joss Whedon has anything to say about it. He's reportedly looking at her for Wonder Woman. So much for my no-holds-barred Internet campaign. Sigh...

I dont buy this. To me this is the same thing that happened with SMG. One or two people report that they say JB is in the running and then guess what? It gets turned into Joss and Joel are hounding her for the part.
To me places like Tvguide, Eonline and other places just reprint what others have said and make it look like their own. Wouldnt shock me if JB has heard squat about this.
They are still also saying that one wierd chick is up for it as well.
Plus if I recall right didnt a few years ago CC switch to a new agent who pushed very hard for her for roles? Like a major agent? Thus the many NBC guest shots?
Also from what I have read the Xmen 3 movie is already set for filming. One site said that the guy who plays Scott Summers might have to be recast since the actor took a spot on the Superman movie and they will film at the same time.
Xmen 3 is just about ready to film while the WW script is not even half done.
Joss will want the fame now and WW a few years away wouldnt do it, XMen while he is still a writer on it will.

What's up with Jessica Biel all of a sudden? Her name's been tossed around a lot lately for various projects.

What's up with Jessica Biel all of a sudden? She's apparently an "It" Girl, kinda in the vein of Jessica Alba and Scarlett Johannson.
I can't say what anyone sees in these chicks, but oh well.

She's attractive, can act and is cheap.
Which puts her somewhere in the middle between Alba and Scarlett.

Also - the last time I checked, wasn't Wonder Woman a brunette?! ;)

From Buffy.nu
X-Men 3 Director’s name revealed !
From Chud.com - By Devin Faraci - 2005-03-14th
The question of just who would be directing X-Men 3 has been nagging at fans since Bryan Singer left the franchise to relaunch Superman. Now the question has been answered, and while Whedon fans across the globe weep, a pretty good name has been pulled from this hat: Matthew Vaughn.
Unless you’re one of our dead sexy British readers you probably haven’t seen the man’s prior directing gig, Layer Cake, a completely crackerjack British gangster film starring the excellent Daniel Craig. Being a dead sexy CHUD.com writer, I have seen the movie, and I do have to say that Vaughn handles things with some real flair and flash, while never sacrificing storytelling.
What will he bring to X-Men 3? It’s hard to say, but much like the hiring of Paul Greengrass to helm Watchmen (oh, and by the way, look for the CHUD.com EXCLUSIVE interview with Greengrass tomorrow - I’m transcribing it right now), this is a move that gives me some faith that the studio (Fox here, Paramount for Watchmen) isn’t just interested in cranking out something to pad their second and third quarter profits.
By the way, Vaughn may have only directed one film, but he’s no tyro - he’s been producing the films of Guy Ritchie for years.
So Joss will not be on Xmen 3. I still dont know if he will be on WW. But the notch just got raised for him to be.

Perhaps it was a hallucination, but is Julia Stiles now campaigning for the role? I can't see her in the role though, she's got such a lightweight presence on film.

Can someone clear something up for me. IIRC Joel Silver's comments about Whedon was that he might possibly write the story. There was never any talk (outside of The Faithful) that Joss would be directing WW. Right? Are people just assuming that if he writes the script that he'd direct it too or was the legitmate talk about him writing/directing.

Oh for crap's sake. Honestly, no one was interested in this damn movie until Charisma opened her mouth about the possibility of it. Get in line, ladies.
There was never any talk (outside of The Faithful) that Joss would be directing WW. Right? This is true. It's just rumors and rabbles at this point. I still shudder at Whedon writing WW's story.

Oh man, Kim Basinger is horrible. She doesn't have the presence for it. Maybe they should ask Linda Carter for her input, haha.
Anyway, whom ever they chose, please let her be athletic and commanding! Basinger is just so dainty. I adore Charisma Carpenter, but if all the rumors are true about her and Joss Whedon, I guess she might even get a chance to audtion for the part.

Kim Besinger, bad choice, Silver! Jessica Biel, even worse!!! And that´s all I am going to say!
