View Full Version : Playboy confirmed
Chrissy over at CC.com has confirmed the appearance - sometime this summer. CC is enthused. Good enough for me.

Huh. So, I guess the question now becomes what kind of photos are these going to be?
ETA: Okay, so no below the waist frontal nudity...and 'in the best of taste'...hmm.

That sounds great! I’m so glad Charisma is happy with what she is doing. We all knew the women would negotiate, and it seems she has made sure that her and her family are comfortable about it completely.
I can’t wait to see the pictures and I support her completely. I’ve always said if I had the body and the confidence, I’d posse in playboy, in a heartbeat. I’ve always thought there was something very empowering about the women that do it, so I have the utmost respect for Charisma.
Thanks to Chrissy for confirming and being so great to us fans of Charisma.

Well, CC said that it's "in best of taste". Still, think she doesn't have to do it, cause her career post Angel started really good. But it's her decision and of course i'll support her!

I'm sure the pictorial will be beautiful, and I hope it gives CC a big boost of self-confidence as well.

What Penny said.
While she may not 'have' to do it, if she wants to I'm fully supportive.
And while I won't be buying a copy, I *will* find be getting someone to buy it for me. ;)

You know while I’m sure this will probably boost her career, we don’t know for sure that her career is the reason she is doing this photo shoot. It could have to do with the fact that she just gave birth to a beautiful son, she’s happily married, and she’s really proud of her body, and is at that stage where she wants to show it off.

This is great news...erm, I didn't mean that in a pervy way. I'm glad that CC is comfortable and enjoying the shoot and that she's happy with the pics. As the old saying goes "if you've got it, flaunt it" and CC has it in spades and then some. I too will be buying my first Playboy ever. And definitely telling all my friends that, "I'm buying it for the pictures! You should too."

Speaking of, as someone who does not generally buy these things, is there normally an accompanying interview too?

Well not that I know for sure, I mean I have looked at Pb a few times when I've discovered my brothers stashes. But yeah I think there usually is an interview but it's not anything spectacular. A few lines of mostly fluff I think. But the guys on the board should know. Guys??

So these are basically topless?
I'm curious about the photographer. I remember an article about an early shoot w/ a French female that she felt comfortable with. I wonder if it's the same person or if they have to use a Playboy one.

You and me both Kel. :D I'll just have to sneak it in under a bunch of other non-Playboy items when I approach the cash.
I can't imagine that there won't be an interview accompanying the pictorial, and I look forward to that as well.
I´m really happy for Charisma and I´ll support her.:) I´m excited about the pictures. I´ve never seen an issue of Playboy, but for CC I´m going to have a look. I hope it brings some attention to the press, so it would build up her carreer.;)

It's Playboy, don't they have mailorder? Even wrapped so there's no annoying address sticker.

Heck, I'll plunk that thing down on the counter and do the "Yay, boobies!" happy-dance. Or, just get the hubby to go buy it.
Dimitri
02-10-2004, 04:37 PM
Yep, they have Mail-Order. It arrives in a box so that nobody can actually see the magazine, either.
If you're just worried about the sticker, Playboys are usually wrapped in Plastic so that people can't just open them up and read them in a store(this way kids wouldn't be subjected to nudity at a young age).
Don't ask how I know so much about Playboy. We'll just, uh, let that be a secret.

Nah, if I'm going to buy it, I'll just bite the bullet and buy it. I may, however, choose to do so at a store located a little bit further from me than the one I normally go to. ;)

As someone who does buy Playboy--and who does look at the pictures (Hey...my wife gets Playgirl, so I figure what's good enough for the goose...), I think she'll come across terrifically. As for whether there's an interview--sometimes yes, sometimes no--we'll probably see at least a short one with CC as she's not your standard "My turn ons are..." type Playmate, but is rather a celebrity shoot.

That's what I say. Be proud and show off your Pb with CC on the front ;) . I know I will be.
And it does come covered in plastic? Huh, well over here they must take it off or something cause when I've seen it on the shelves it's usually as is. But then there's a huge magazine culture here and I've known Japanese ppl to read an entire magazine or book in the store.

Exactly! If you're so inclined, you can even pat yourself on the back for being brave... or take pleasure in a small bit of being naughty, depending on your worldview.
I'm trying to remember if I've ever bought one before. I know I felt embarrassed enough buying the Femme Fatale magazine last year, because it looked like a soft-porn "women in Sci-fi" type magazine.

In that case, you should be home free with Playboy. It tends to look more like GQ or some of the less conceptual Vanity Fair covers (and some of the more "look at these!" Vogue shots) than the alien-lesbians-in-oil thang the genre mags go for.

Well, I lived through buying 'Ice' with Jordan and her assets on show last summer, so I think I can do this. Spent about 10 minutes looking at other mags before I got the courage to get it though, cos dude, it was Jordan. Eugh.
I've just always had this thing about people judging you. But the way I see it. Staff/people raise eyebrows and thats it. They don't know you, their opinions don't matter, and in a few seconds you're outta the shop anyway.
Might be a load of crap, but it's what I need to tell myself in order to get these things.
I have issues, we all know this.

Or, to quote that old song, simply "Earth Angel." Although honestly I expect she may reject the ties to the old show in favor of some play on her first name.

Okay, I'll start the pool...
Will the cover refer to her as "<i>Angel</i>'s Charisma Carpenter", <i>Buffy the Vampire Slayer's</i> Charisma Carpenter (I foresee a 'Buffy star in the buff' line here), or just as "Charisma Carpenter"?

I don't think they'll earn any extra cash by saying "Buffy's..." After all, anyone who watches the show will recognize her, either by face or name. But, then again, look at Kristy Swanson. Played Buffy almost a decade ago and they still billed her as "Buffy in the Buff" or something to that effect.

I doubt she'll have any control over what the cover says. And, not to be middle of the road, but my money's on "Buffy/Angel Star..." They'll want both fan bases to buy it afterall.

Well...
The fantastic interview with John Lennon in 1980, that came out either just before or just after he was murdered, is the first one that comes to mind. I also seem to remember there being one with an interview w/Ringo Starr and Barbara Bach, sometime in the mid '80's. And if I'm not mistaken, I believe there was also a Paul McCartney interview and one with an article about Princess Diana, but those last 2 might have been in Play Girl. Which I had a years subscription to, BTW.
So me and "nudie mags" (*g*), no problemo!
Does Justin even need to say that he is already a subscriber? I must admit to being a bit surprised. I naturally assumed the rumor to be bunk. But hey, nekkid Charisma, so I'll take it.

I dunno. Depends on whether she wants to or not. If I were her, though, I definitely wouldn't. Howard has a tendency to skim through the magazines right in front of the model, which would probably be very awkward for CC, regardless of whether or not she's confident with the pictures.
Fine. No begging. But I won't stop hopin' tho.
And nobody should be subjected to Howard Stern. Especially not after what happened last time CC was on it. I actually found the guy amusing until I read about CC's interview with him.
LaLa247
02-10-2004, 09:37 PM
See, I think appearing on Howard Stern would be great for the mag. Howard not only talks with the celebrities, he also, obviously, plugs their work. So if the some five million(?) people who listen to Stern hear that Ms. Charisma Carpenter is in Playboy, guess who's gonna go buy?
If she sells big time, it's gonna get press.
And anyway, Howard did sound like he liked her a lot. And you know he likes a lady when he goes as far as to insult her husband, then proclaim he wanted to sleep with said husband ('cause he was sooooo good looking), and not before stating that he wanted to watch them...together. LOL
Besides, I think it's time for her to go back and show him she's not scared of his skinny ass. ;)

Well if CC is happy with the pictures and is having fun at the photo shot, then I have nothing but support for her. If this is something that she wants to do then more power to her. Now I just have to build up my confidence in the next few months so that I won't feel embaressed buying a mens magazine :o, oh and finding a hiding spot for it so my mom doesn't see it.
However she should stay the hell away from that other jack ass Howard Stern. She does not deserve to have to put up with him twice just for his lame radio show.

I am a huge fan of Charisma and have been since season 1, episode 1 of Buffy. I think that she is a gorgeous woman and incredibly talented. However, I think that doing this, disgraceful. I respect your opinion. I don't think she is disrespecting herself. I mean, I saw pictures of her on FF and other magazines like that and were great, with a lot of taste and very artistic and sexy, when some photos from the same magazines with other actress (even some of the buffyverse) were more grotesque and some sugestive positions that would make a phorno star look like a nun next to them.
I really don't think she will SHOW so much. I think she will play with lights and shadows and perfil posses. Some of her other photos were in topless, using a scarf or posing back to the camera, I don't think this time will be TOO much different.
That's of course based on what I saw from the local PlayBoy. I don't know what the magazine in USA wants. Even sometime a couple of international ballet dancers (the male is famous Julio Bocca) did photos for playboy and were expectacular: like I said they were naked but you can't see almost anything. Here is not a "stigma" make photos for Playboy. Is really such a "bad precedent" there?

Hmm....Dunno. Maybe. You might want to check that out, actually.
As for me, I'll be ordering it off the website. Since Walden Books stopped selling them, the closest place to get one is a gas station. And I'd rather not go into a gas station for the sole reason of buying a Playboy, considering I don't have a car and would end up having to walk there.

Good on ya, Charisma! Playboy is renowned for its pictorials of beautiful women tastefully photographed. In fact, the only thing better than a beautiful woman tastefully photographed is a beautiful woman tastelessly photographed; however, since I doubt she'll be appearing in Hustler and Cheri anytime soon (and is a little too old for Hawk), this'll do just fine.

It has something to do with CC's on Playboy, indirectly.
I read today about B.Spears having trouble with a Video because she's dressing an almost transparent suit, so her breast are "visible", and because of that MTV only airs the video at the night. Also, some scene from ER was censored because one breast of the pacient was visible too. And they mentioned two more cases that I don't remember now.
My question is, for USA (TV or public in general) is such a big deal, is somekind of momentary sensibility, is that the TV rules (legal rules) are strong, or is just that the public doesn't wanna to see that because is "inmoral" or something like that?
I'm curious. Please, this is not a critic or something like that! Just a question, because that called my attention. (Here, is not a problem, maybe if you see it before 10:00 p.m. the network could be santioned, but not more than that. I mean maybe they do worst things with ideologies or things like that  )

Well, I know that the FCC has very specific guidelines as to what you can and can't show on tv, especially wrt nudity (e.g. you can show the top or the curve of a breast but not the nipple). However, in the past tv shows have things, planned, advertised things that go against these guidelines (such as saying shit on the air, and the ER boob thing). I actually hadn't heard about the ER thing until after they decided to cut it. It was an old lady the docs were trying to resucitate, whose breasts were exposed while she was lying unconscious on the gurney (they just pixeled them out). Why they'd think anyone would want to see an elderly woman's rack is beyond me, but I guess they were going for realism. I should also mention that both of the examples given aired (or were supposed to air) after 10 p.m.
I also think that it depends on the amount of complaints the FCC receives, who btw, can fine networks millions for these infractions. I definitely think some people might think these things are "immoral", however probably not as many as you might think. I think most people just think that there's a time and a place for these things and it's not tv or primetime tv. And plenty of people don't think it's any big deal.
I also think that it depends on the situation in which the nudity occurs. As I said, a lot of these things are advertised, so people have the choice of whether or not to watch. But with something like Boobiegate 2004, aka as the Superbowl Halftime Show, no one knew it was going to happen. It was live, no delay at all. It featured a man ripping a woman's clothes off. And it aired at approximately 8:30 pm EST and 6:30 pm PCT. Whereas, the ER ep had the woman being cared for by doctors and aired after 10 pm.
Also, wrt the Britney Spears video, I'm guessing you're referring to "Toxic". It really isn't all that uncommon for MTV to air certain, racier videos only late at night. Lots of videos, by big name artists, have been placed on this restriction over the years.
Sorry that was so long. I hope it helped a bit.

I'd say Carolina did a pretty good job explaining it. A lot of it has to do with the issue of sexual content or rather I should say intent. Right now also, thanks to Boobiegate, the networks are running scared--no one wants to be called to testify before a Congressional subcommittee  ! Another bit that got cropped was that the big scene between Trip and T'Pol in Enterprise got cropped somewhat as we were supposed to get a view of Jolene Blalock's (or her body double's) naked fanny--but they did some judicious cropping.
Also, you need to remember that it is an election year in the US, so the politicians are even more sensitive to these issues than they normally would be. Again, I think Carolina is right in that what really torqued a lot of people off is the venue Boobiegate occurred in--the Superbowl, something traditionally presented as family entertainment; the time--about 8:30 Eastern; 6:30 Pacific; and the fact that absolutely no warning was given. After the November elections, this will all die down.
LadyFireHorse
02-13-2004, 09:46 AM
I agree the whole "no warning" thing is a major issue. If a program plans to show something that could be offensive to some they announce it ahead of time and the viewer has the CHOICE to watch or not.
What was done at the halftime show gave us NO choice and no chance to change the channel or make sure the kids were out of the room.
I'm a Mom of a 13 yr old boy and a 5 yr old girl. My son likes the music of NSync and Justin Timberlake....I take issue with Justin on his behavior because my son and alot of other young boys that may like him or enjoy his music....saw him treat a woman in such a violent and sexually abusive manner. What kind of message does that send to these boys?? "Oh it's cool to just take what you want from a woman".......Heaven help us we have enough problems to worry about already with our teenagers and what they are learning or exposed too.

LadyFireHorse - I agree with you. I was watching with my 11 yr old son. I wasn't expecting to spend part of the second half of the game explaining to my son that it's beyond inappropriate to tear at a woman's clothes. The ripping was more offensive to me than the actual sight of Janet's breast.

I think the reason the CSI nipple got by was because it was shown during an autopsy. Nothing the least bit sexual about it; in fact it was about as desexualized as you can get.

everyone is talking about nipplegate, but what i think was more offensive was the 'dancing around' before that happened.
timberlake was dry-humping her ass all over the stage, but no-one is mentioning that, i don't think that is something appropiate for prime time network.

I have to admit being somewhat relieved too that it’s not too T&A and sounds closer to her earlier comments about not getting too graphic, especially as a mother.
There’s enough nasty comments about this w/o adding more fuel to the fire.

Playboy has always been a little more tasteful than other nudie mags. It's not as graphic as Penthouse or Hustler, which is why I think a lot of women, especially actresses, do it.

Chrissy said it's the June issue which should be out in May!

According to Chrissy over at C-C.com, Charisma is going to be on the cover of the June issue, and even though it's the Playmate of the Year issue, she will still be on the cover.
In other Playboy-related news, Chrissy says that "Damian and CC went to HH's BD [Hugh Hefner's birthday] party. Everyone had to wear PJ's. She said they had a great time."

So can we expect photos of Charisma in her PJs hanging with Hef's many girlfriends? :hmm: :bounce:

Or all of the other celebs, businessmen and hell even some politicians (wonder if Arnold got an invite?). Not to mention his daughter who actually runs the company.

I did a search at the playboy website and all the photo websites that I know of, and couldn’t find any pictures from the event. I want pictures of CC and her hubby in their PJ’s dammit!

They'll come out eventually and the event is usually covered by the magazine shows. If this party was for the PlayMate of the Year then the publicity will probably start closer to the issues release.
I have to say that getting on the cover of that issue has to be a good thing, doesn't it usually get a lot of publicity? I remember seeing something on it on ET a year or so ago.

I would say it's a big deal, considering getting on the Playmate of the Year issue is pretty damn coveted. And if Charisma's on the cover instead of the Playmate, it says something about what the PtB over at Hefner's place think of her. ;)

This may have already been suggested, or maybe universally assumed, but considering the rumors of ME firing Charisma in part for her pregnancy weight (Which, I understand, are still unconfirmed), do you think that this whole Playboy dealy could be, at least partially, directed at them? Or, at the very least, that the firing was an event that influenced her decision to do the shoot?

i just got the may issue of playboy, and in the back on the next month page, there is no mention of charisma, BUT i went back to the april issue, and there is no mention of pam anderson for may, and the march issue has no mention of rachel hunter for april.
