I think Cordy and Angel had depths to their relationship that felt more real than anything else in the Cordyverse, and I really enjoyed that.

Nera's right. There was a weight of authenticity that no other relationship really had. It was more than a romance or a friendship...it was a knowledge of each other deeper than that held by any other character.

The best of C/A? Going sentimental here. I know people hate the arc but it was in Pylea that I actually realize that Angel loved Cordy and that this ship had a shot at sailing.
Sad as it is, it'll probably end up being one of those events that I always remember, like where I was when the Challenger exploded.
The look on Angel/DB's face with the "you love me?"

Wow. That is such a tough one.
They had so many great moments through the years. I don't even know that I could pick a "favorite".
But up there? Definitly the end of tonights. I'm not divulging any details for all you spoiler-free out there who haven't seen yet.
I also love love love the end of "Provider," even though it wasn't the best episode. But every time I see them on that bed together it gets to me.
And OF COURSE the "I need you." in TSILA.

It was the "real" of it, wasn't it? And that's why, after all of the hallucinated/ dream/ possessed/ astral" kisses, none of them stand out for me as the one time best moment.
Nope. For me, the Cordelia/Angel relationship was never more sweet, real, poignant, spiritual and just plain "how can anyone not love these two together" than at the end of "That Vision Thing." The two of them together, so comfortable with each other and yet so awkward because of the depth of their feelings for each other, and the realization of what those feelings meant. That both of them would cross any line, go to any lengths, and sacrifice anything for each other.
When Angel told Cordelia that she was important. Someone finally putting her first, above all else.
Cordy making waffles, even though Angel wasn't a "foodie". Because she never pretended he wasn't a vampire - but she always accepted it as a part of *what* he was, never treated him as though that changed *who* he was, and never stopped making him be *who* he was by interacting with the rest of the world.
The entire scope and breadth of the C/A relationship was on display in that one scene, and it was that one scene that made me love not only Cordy as a character, but also Angel, at that moment in time. And it was probably the only time that I began to feel that maybe, just maybe, Angel was good enough for her, even though she was always way beyond good enough for him.

Honestly, I would put tonight's kiss on the "Best Of" list. It was so emotional and *real*. They were cryin', man. And it was just so very real and I loved it.

It has to be the underlying friendship the two share. I think what they share goes above and beyond just love, they have this connection that seems so pure and perfect. It’s particularly evident in TSILA Cordy going out to find the art stuff for him and trying to get him out of his dark shadows, let’s not forget the way Angel looks at Cordelia when she is in the vision coma.
With Buffy it was always just kissing and angst, with Angel and Cordelia, they both really shared there feelings with each other, we never see Angel break with anyone else but Cordelia.
Those moments of pure friendship acceptance and love are my favorite moments.

The moment Cordy leaned in and hugged Angel in the Season Three premiere and proclaimed "He's Back!" was when this C/A shipper was born. Tonight with the final "Thank You", I was put to rest.
I had always figured that sooner or later they would develop a realtionship since they were the male and female lead on AtS and I was so happy to see how comfortable and not-forced their first interactinos were in "Hearttrob". It felt natural and something I don't think I'd ever felt for a couple before on television. To put it frankly, I fell in love like never before.
I watched it through the sub-text and then through the hard times, hoping against hope that it would all pay off after "Tommorow". I waited with excitment all summer for Season Four and then frowned and dissaproved at what came forth.
My heart broke to see Angel witness Cordelia(or so he thought) betray him with his own son. I left the C/A fandom for awhile to cool down and then with "Awakening", I saw what could have been and I continued my love for this couple.
Once again, I hoped for the best during last summer. I believed in my couple, that perhaps they could get together and work things out. I was sadly dissapointed when she didn't return and all season I've waited for tonight.
Now it's here and now over. I'm not sad at all, which is the oddest thing, I'm happy for what was and that we got to see C/A end on a happy note, it was complete, the story has been told and I'm glad to have been along for the ride.
(I never thought I'd say this) Joss, thank you for creating these two wonderful characters and for thinking they could be together. Thank you David Greenwalt for furthering the relationship and believing in our couple. And last but certainly not least, thank you to David and Charisma, for without who, we'd never have seen what real chemistry could be like. Thank you!

Dude, I was over C/A, but I remember why I liked it.
Another thing about Cordelia and Angel that I have to mention. Angel make act like a total dumbass, hell, he is a dumbass, but he used to have Cordelia to call him on it. And he was better for that. It actually makes his dumbass streak rather endearing.

One my favourite C/A moments is when Penn comes back. At then end of the show when Cordy gave him a pep talk that is what made me a C/A'er. Judgement when she says 'I'll be with you' is also close second.
But with these two characters it was always about the strong bond and friendship. Am going to miss that.

Oh God, Angel making eggs for Cordy and Wes after the events of "Parting Gifts" (I think). How Cordy says that after a night of fighting Angel always does breakfast. That for me showed a degree of comfort between the two characters that I'd never seen before.

The easy comfort between them. It was a highlight of season 1 for me - I have fond memories of the 'new shoes' scene with Angel, Cordelia and Doyle in Sense and Sensitivity. The way she whacks him on the arm with whatever it was in her hand (a file?) and he looks after her with such a gorgeous, sappy look on his face.

For me, it wasn't so much a C/A moment, but a Cordy moment... actually a Cordy episode.
Season 2, she has visions that Gunn is in danger. Damn, I forget the ep name now.
She's alone, she knows Gunn needs help, and she cannot find Angel or Wes. She does the only she can think of... she goes herself to protect her new friend.
No special powers, no cowering in a room helplessly. This once selfish teenager is now risking her own life because she knows it is right.
I fell hard, or rather, even harder, for that character then. I saw how being with Angel and Doyle and Wes and then Gunn had made Cordy a better woman... and how she in turn made them better, too.
Right then, she became more than a snarky bit of comic relief. She was, in fact, the heart. She was the center of that family.
And I love her all over again.

There were so many, but three of my favorites:
Angel holding Cordy's hand in TSILA. "I want you back. I *need* you back."
The hug in Heartthrob. "He's back!" And Angel's smile--God, he was happy to see her.
When Angel saved Cordy from Darla in Offspring. His frantic motions, the way he called her name. For me, that's when the show ended because after that, despite my love for baby Connor, their relationship was shattered.

The second to the last episode in season 3 (OMG I can't remember the title - how shameful) where Angel and Cordy have the conversation in the office - she calls him back to do "that thing we do. You know, I say "Angel, don't" and you ignore me and rush headlong into danger."
That scene has always been one of my favorite C/A moments. She's the only one who can do that - she's the only one that has done it for so long that it is actually a routine. The rest of the gang holds him accountable or questions him or tries to stop him on occassion but she constantly acts on behalf of him.

A few more of my favorite C/A moments:
The excited way he grinned and scampered over to be treated by her at the end of "Fredless".
The fact that he didn't mind her drooling on him in "Waiting in the Wings", because, hey - physical contact!
The pleading way he wanted reassurance in "Belonging" about her not leaving him to become rich and famous.
Sigh. It's so sad to me now, because they really gave us so many moments to see that Angel had fallen for Cordy, but never gave us the same time to see how Cordy felt about Angel.

Heartthrob was an all-time great C/A episode - so much comfort between them. Especially when he called her 'baby' when she was having the vision. Such a tiny thing, but *Squee!*

I have so many-Dead End, Ephinany, TSILA and Heartthrob. But after seeing last night's epiosde-that last scene hands down was my favourite C/A moment because it was real and an acknowledgement from both parties how they felt about one another IJMHO.

I have one and Cordy wasn't even there. It was in Forgiving and Fred wanted to call her in Mexico because Connor had been taken and Angel wouldn't let because he wanted to make everything all right again as she was coming back, with presents, for Connor. The heartbreak in his voice and the expression on his face when he said that...
And the whole are you still grr...? And good to see how you have grown always gets to me. And the way he protected her from Russel's men. And could you use me? When I think of that episode it amazes me just how far C/A had come from that episodes, both as characters and as a ship.

You beat me to it mef2101. That scene was a turning point in my Cordy love. Something about the way she grabbed that crossbow and was saying to herself "I'm gonna die", but still jumped right to Gunn's rescue anyway. That's a hero in my book anyday!

Not sure if this has already been said and I can't be stuffed to go and reread all the posts. But in the S1 ep, which I can't remember again God my memory's a shocker, where Cordy, Angel and Wes go to a party at David Nabbitt's place and Cordy says the "Smell that" line about money. The fact that Angel knew that money did it for Cordy and that he'd teased her by hiding some around the office and gotten a kick out of watching her find it. That suggested to me that they were really getting to know each other and that Cordy was, unknowingly, releasing Angel's playful side.

The very first time I noticed C/A was in 'Dead End.' well *really* started to ship them...
he orders her food, she tells him she loves him and that massive, massive smile :)
My favourite C/A moment...
also for the angst, Benediction. where she rests her head on his shoulder and tells him how sorry she is... I heart that moment...
also in the Price "Angel is my priority."
Fabulous...
Good times people, that will never be forgotten

Rm W/A View has a couple of my favourite C/A scenes.
I love the scene when she arrives with all her bags and launches into the roach speech, ending up with her totally steamrolling Angel and snagging the bed - all without pausing for breath!
I also love the "you got peanut butter on the bed ... and what's a wet towel doing on my leather chair" scene. Doyle's reaction to that scene always makes me smile!

All the moments previously mentioned already are great i especially loved Angel's longing to help Cordy in TSILA and TVT but my favourtite C/A moments are from Disharmony, Hearthrob and Provider.
I adore the ending of Disharmony so much, the clapping, dancing and smiling between C/A got me clapping, dancing and smiling too.
The hug in Hearthrob was soo sweet. As soon as he saw her, he had that smile on his face and that hug just has to be the best hug in C/A history.
The little family scene at the end of the Provider just makes me melt.

Like some of you have already said, I first became aware of C/A as a potential couple during "Heartthrob." Those smiles and that hug when he came home. "You're back! He's back!" Wonderful. And the ever popular "Easy baby." At least I think it was "Easy baby." I know he called her "baby' though! Then to follow that up with "TVT" and then "Billy"? How could you not fall in love with the idea of C/A?
Then like Platy said, it just kinda became one sided. We all saw how much Angel cared for her, but she was given, what 2 episodes to realize she was in love with Angel, not Groo, rush rush rush, higher being, evil, coma, gone.
But "You're Welcome", finally showed Cordy's side of the story. And what a beautiful story it was. My tiny, shriveled up, C/A lovin' heart got a jump start!

I feel like I can contribute to this now that the pain of seeing Cordelia's final episode has diminished somewhat.
My favorite C/A moment is the end of Epiphany when Angel rushes to her after beating off the third eye buggers. The look on his face when he reaches for her is beautiful and my heart broke when she says that she's not okay because "You really hurt my feelings." I had loved C/A before that ep, but that moment stands out in my mind the most.

My fav C/A moments are so much the ones already mentioned but off hand my 2 favorites are the end of "Your Welcome", the kiss and looks it was all so real and made me realize why I fell in love with C/A in the first place :) I also loved the end of TSILA. I love Angel's "I want you back, I need you back" to me this started to define their relationship and show how much Angel truly cared for and needed Cordelia.

All of the moments that have been mentioned have been the best but I agree with LadyJubilee! The sexual tension between Cordy and Angel in "Reprise" when he went to get the book... OMG! Explosive...really. And also, "Waiting in the Wings" is the best! The way they kiss and practically have sex! OMG! When Angel tells Cordy that she was the most beautiful woman and she tells him "What did you just say?"... OMG! So beautiful! And when he tells her "It's us Cordy... it's you and me. Kissing you it's not something I can just..." and he gets closer to her but she gets the wrong idea and shuts him up and doesn't let him explain what he meant!! Amazing! And when Cordy tells him "I'm only alive when you're inside me..." and then they kiss! WOW... I'll think of other moments now and post them later...

I actually fell in love with the possibility of C/A in the Dead End scene. Heh. There was a little part of me in the hospital scene of TSILA that had me inkling towards C.A heh.
Then like Platy said, it just kinda became one sided. We all saw how much Angel cared for her, but she was given, what 2 episodes to realize she was in love with Angel, not Groo, rush rush rush, higher being, evil, coma, gone.
True. I'm actually writing a fic where Cordelia is physically attracted to Angel and i got the idea wondering how good it would have been for Angel to really realize he's in love with Cordelia all along Season Three and have Cordelia thinking he's cute/sexy and come to the realization that she wants more (not necessarily love him, but like him to a large extent that in the near-future she could love him) than what they share together. Instead, they opted to have it one sided.
If i had to choose, i'd actually prefer for Cordelia to be suddenly attracted to Angel and kind of justify it as something else all season and finally realize she loves the big lug and Angel kind of reeling into the fact that he may have feelings for Cordy.
I don't know, maybe i'm one of the few that would have loved to see the feelings they had for each develop over time. Sure, i'm known for my short amount of patience, but with all the love i had for C/A i would have waited. It would have been a little soapy, but by the end of season three angel, what wasn't soapy about the show?
But "You're Welcome", finally showed Cordy's side of the story. And what a beautiful story it was. My tiny, shriveled up, C/A lovin' heart got a jump start!
It did, it truly did. And Charisma acted the shit out of this episode, and she made David Boreanaz a better actor. (Boy's got talent, but when you put those two together in a room and tell them to act. They'll furking act!)
If only the quality of "Your Welcome" (merely the C/A aspect and Cordy-scenes, nothing else was really good, only the shirtless Lindsey made up for some of it. Heh) was mirrored in the previous episodes (all of season 5 AND season four) and the episodes afterwards, we wouldn't have ourselves in this mess.
I mean, seriously, after S4/S5 (pre-YW) it looked as if they put no work or effort into ANYTHING at all compared to the quality of YW. Seriously, it just took a little effort. I guess it has to be the big 1-0-0 to have the push to make the writers (i'm looking at you! Joss!) get off their pompous asses and put something half-decent together.
Jeez. It's been how long since the beautiful sneak-peek of the 'Cordy Show' aired? And i'm sitting here, stll emotional.
I need help. NOW!

Okay I usually just lurk here but I have to put my two cents in on the angsty moments. At the end of Spin The Bottle when Angel follows Cordy down the hallway and asks "were we in love?" She turns around looks down and says "we were" My heart absolutely broke for them in that scene. The music that was playing, the way the scene was shot and the look on Angels face. It get's me everytime.

Another great scene where Cordy wasn't even in the ep was in "Loyalty". Angel is talking about love, and how he used to think it meant pain, and being torn up inside, but now he knew better. He was talking in relation to Connor but, since he was already in love with Cordy at that point, I think he was also talking about her, and how his feelings for her showed him love could actually be a good thing.
And I agree that it would have been nice to see Cordy's feelings for Angel (or, at least, her realization of them) develop over time. Then again, dressing Groo up to look like Angel was a big, honkin' clue that something was going on with her, even if she didn't know it.

Penny,
Thanks for your prop. I'd forgotten I'd posted that Bowie ditty. Saw the first eppy of the Sopranos S-5 tonight, christening a friend's big screen. Brought along my laptop (she wants a Dell, now, Cynthia - of the Trust Fund Cynthias) and I showed her my digifotos of San Francisco (oh yes, Strangers, I'm moving down there! 'Bye gray skies. Hello. . . gray skies. But warmer!) Heartthrob was in the laptop DVD bay. . .
This remains one of my top 3 episodes. Along with 'Birthday' and TSILA. It is a marvel of accessible story-telling, and compared with the Sopranos, quite sturdy. Back to back: Angel is just as distinctive in its own way as the HBO show, and I couldn't imagine going easily from Tony hitting on Dr. Melfi (is that a spoiler? Well it shouldn't be.) to just about any other network show and hold up the way it did. Fromthe camera panning up and seeing Fred alone, poking her head out from her room. I told Cynthia: "Angel is a vampire. He has a soul, which means he has a conscience about the people he killed and tortured. Sunlight, decapitation and wooden stakes through the heart can kill him. He needs to be invited into rooms. Cordy has visions of the future that hurt like hell. She has a rent-controlled apartment that comes with a ghost. Oh, and Buffy's dead.
Turns out, I didn't need to tell her any of this. Cynthia was hooked by the time Angel opened the doors to the Tibetan monistary! The writing is so efficient and effective, you know everything you need well before you need to. My favorite scene: Of course! The one that ends, "I'm Cordelia. I don't think, I know." Specifically, when she corrects herself - "A living, breathing. . ." CC rolls her tongue, a truly adorable and heartfelt blip, and says "well, living anyway."

Hey everyone! Hey AD!! I love you and welcome!
About the C/A moments... aren't you guys forgetting the moment in "Belonging", Season 2? It's when Angel went to visit Cordy on the set of her commercial. The first great thing about that scene is when Cordy takes off her robe and she stands there with her bikini only. LOL Angel kept looking at her like "OMFG She's hot!". Then, the director started bringing her down and Angel almost killed the guy:
Director: "What's wrong? You don't speak English? The wardrobe. I need to *see* it. Lose the robe, princess."
Cordy stares at him for a moment and he snaps his fingers a few times.
Cordy: "Sure. Sure."
She slowly takes the robe off to reveal that she's wearing a very skimpy bikini dotted with seashells. Angel looks over, blinks, takes a second look, his eyes widening a little. Looks away. Sneaks another quick glance then keeps his eyes on the director. He was clearly checking Cordy out!
Director: "Turn around. (Cordy does so, slowly) Well, nothing wrong there. Okay, turn. (Cordy turns to face him again) When does she go to makeup?"
Cordy: "I've already been to makeup."
Director: "Really. (To assistant) Then take her back. Tell David to get rid of those circles under her eyes. She looks like a refugee from an abused women's shelter."
Cordy: "I had food poisoning."
Director: "Yeah, right. You eat. Good one. (To assistant) Tell David I'm supposed to wanna sleep with this woman. I don't. Do you wanna sleep with her? Of course you don't."
Angel: "You're out of line. (The director turns and stares) Apologize to her."
Director: "Oh, let me guess. Wanna-be rocker or part-time male model. I could go either way on this one."
Angel takes a step closer to him: "I said apologize to her."
Director: "Really? (Aside to assistant) Get security."
Cordy: "Angel..."
Angel: "Who the hell do you think you are, huh?"
Director: "I think I'm the director. (To Cordy) And I think you're real smart for bringing your unemployed boyfriend onto *my* set, telling me how to film my commercial. That's really helping your career."
Cordy, back in her bathrobe, takes a hold of Angel arm and pulls him away from the director.
Cordy: "I'm sorry. Ah. He won't bother you anymore."
Director: "Oh, I know he won't. Because security is gonna toss his ass in about two minutes. Now get into makeup and hope they can work miracles."
The director leaves and Cordy turns to face Angel.
Angel: "Do you want me to rip that guy's head of for you? Because, you know, I can. I can actually just rip his head right off his body. I can do that."
Cordy: "Are you *trying* to ruin my career? I mean, is this like a conscious effort on your part?"
Angel: "No. I just..."
Cordy: "You need to go. Now. (Angel lets out a deep breath) Why are you still here? Go!"
Angel: "Look, I have to ask you a question."
I also love this scene... from "Belonging" too:
Wesley walks up to Angel.
Wesley: "Angel, is everything alright?"
Angel hands Gunn an ax, then picks up another one and tosses it to Wesley before getting one for himself.
Angel with a sigh: "I-It's Cordy."
Wesley: "What about her?"
Gunn: "Headaches getting worse?"
Wesley: "What happened?"
Angel: "Nothing happened. It - it's just... Heh. Acting is her dream job? I mean, that's the world she really wants to live in? With people like that? I don't get it."
Wesley: "Who are you talking about?"
Angel: "Mr. 'Hey, I'm an L.A. director, you know, shooting a commercial (snaps his fingers) so I must be the center of the universe' guy? It's just like, (?) if you wanna make it in show business you just pretend you're on the food chain(?). I mean, all we do is save the world. And the way he talks to her. It's like she's his commodity. Like she's his slave or something. And you know what the worst part is? She took it. When was the last time Cordy took crap from any of us?"
Gunn: "Never. And the day after never."
Angel: "Exactly! He's also got her wearing this - flimsy swimsuit that covers like (twists the ax handle between his hands as he looks up at the ceiling) nothing."
For a moment all three guys' eyes unfocus, then they glance at each other.
Wesley: "Appalling."
Gunn: "Disgusting."
Angel: "Right..."
All three guys stare at the floor for a moment, Angel clearly knowing that he has feelings for Cordy and thinking about her, then Gunn shakes his head slightly.
Gunn: "Well, shouldn't we be off killing something?"
Wesley: "Absolutely."
Angel: "Good. Let's get this show on the road."
I love those 2 scenes! WOWIE!

If Angel gripping that axe handle in "Belonging" wasn't symbolic, I don't know what was.
Also, I think it's interesting how they showed Angel completely ignored another scantily clad (and, coincidentally, blond) woman just minutes before, but seeing Cordy in a swimsuit sent him all to pieces. And only he could make threatening to rip someone's head off sound sweet.
Finally, I've chosen a new "Proof that Angel was in love with Cordy by the End of Season Two" scene. I used to point to how startled but happy he sounded when he said, "You love me?" in TNPLPG. But, after seeing TLG again, I think the way he says to Wesley, "It's Cordy," tops that. Even more than his anger/panic/helplessness in the rest of that scene, those two quietly spoken words said it all.

You can even hear how tightly he's squeezing that axe. It squeaks. I'm just saying...

I awwwed at the TV today when that happened. Yep. I'm a dork.
But really I think my favorite moments of Season 2 are truly, the end of Disharmony, his reactions in Belonging to the bikini and the director, and his reaction in Caritas when she's vanished.
and his 'I just got her back' always breaks my heart.

The first great thing about that scene is when Cordy takes off her robe and she stands there with her bikini only. LOL Angel kept looking at her like "OMFG She's hot!". Then, the director started bringing her down and Angel almost killed the guy:
I love that triple-take Angel gives Cordy when she takes the robe off. It's like he can't quite believe what he's seeing.

Cordy stares at him for a moment and he snaps his fingers a few times.
I didn't notice this until the last time TNT ran 'Belonging', sometime in December I think, but check out the look on Angel's face as the director guy is snapping his fingers at Cordy.
The 'It's Cordy' and 'I just got her back' gets me every time. I love those beginning scenes of OTR. I gotta give DB props for bringing so much emotion to the C/A relationship that I don't think the writers intended simply by the way he reads a line or a facial expression. DB and CC had a natural chemistry that went above and beyond what was written on paper and gave us all those great C/A subtext moments that we love. I really hope to see them work together again at some point in the future.

I never saw 'Angel' when it was on real time, I actually didn't start watching until this summer when I borrowed my friend's Season 1 DVDs for like a month and watched them a million times. The first few episodes I wanted Cordelia and Doyle together but my favorite C/A moments are in Room w/ a Vu.
He brings her the dorky cactus, which I just thought was new for Angel and his social skills.
Angel is the one that is all touchy/feely when dragging her from the apartment and telling her she's "better than that". And his whole forceful, "You're Cordelia Chase..." blah blah blah, which to me means that Angel knows more about her than she was the head of the Cordettes and cared a lot about shoes. From then on I was all about C/A. :)
Parting Gifts is another one of my favorite episodes for C/A. Especially when he saves her and she hugs him while still in game face. She's accepted that part of him and isn't afraid of it.
Most of my moments come from Season 1, just because I have them memorized more.
Anyways, that was a bit of babbling but it's late. Thought I'd add my two cents. :)

On of mine is also from RWAV. It's the part where the ritual to cleanse the ghost isn't working, and Angel and Doyle decide to just give it up and get Cordy out of there. So they're all on their way to the door when the goons after Doyle for money kick it in and point guns at them. Now, Cordy's standing between Angel and Doyle, and could've gone towards either one. And, since they seemed to be trying to work towards a C/D 'ship, you'd have thought she'd grab Doyle. (Sort of her subconcious saying she liked him more than she let on.) But whose arm does she grab? Who does she cling to in that moment of panick? Who does she instinctively trust? Angel, of course.
I just love that.

Me too. And dangit, you beat me to it. Heh.
We should seriously have a thread with pics of the best moments of the C/A ship. Both as friends and as...more. It makes more of a statement if i cry while looking at beautiful pictures of the two.

OMG! I thought I was the only one that had realized Cordy's move in that scene! I thought it was so amazing how Cordy chose to stand behind Angel and grab his arm instead of Doyle... it meant that she trusted him and knew that he would keep her safe NO MATTER WHAT. And notice how Angel covers her even more when she stands behind him... he covers her more like saying "Good idea.. stay back... I'll protect you.". I love that moment... the whole episode in fact!

Ahh, this thread has definetly been a bittersweet stroll down memory lane.
Every single reply has reminded me of the love I had for this ship and what kept me watching the interaction between the two characters.
I can't think of a specific scene that hasn't already been mentioned, but I do recall becoming a C/A-er mid season two.
Another shipper actually hooked me through a piece of fanfic. I was just browsing through random fanfiction and I clicked on a site not knowing the ship behind it. I read a story and by the end I was intrigued by the possibility of this relationship. From then on I've stood by these two characters and the story that unfolded between them.
I must admit I honestly don't want to let it go because that was the first time I saw a relationship (though as strange as it was) on TV that was realy well done in my opinion. I have to agree though, I wish we could have seen more from Cordelia's POV. But I think we got the confirmation of that in "Your Welcome".
Granted I am a bit perturbed that it took so long to see that heartbreaking kiss between the two, and the end result left me slack jawed and pissed off. But that's TV for ya and that's what we have this beautiful board for.
Though this ship is now dead, we will always have Seasons 1-3 to console us (I'm blocking out season 4 and anything from then on with of course the exception of Your Welcome<~~~You know, without the whole dying aspect in the ending ;) )

With the exception of picking up most of S4 through reruns (and dying to figure out what i was watching). . . I was actually watching BUFFY last summer, until the end of S3 of THAT. . . and then Angel, S1 and S2 and S3 on Sundays in the fall. S4 is back in reruns and I've pretty much caught up with everything. I feel truly powerful now.
I read LOTR out of order all the time. Hated Mordor. Hate. Tid. Dit.
Thanks for S1 reminders. I watched them over and over, too. RWaVU, where Angel figures out she's looking for redemption as well - perhaps the first time Angel's ever looked at her as a moral person with a conscience. "You're CORDELIA CHASE!" where not only is Angel irritated at her cowardice, he's baffled by it. Cordelia? Blubbering? So WRONG!
Hero. Cordy is renting/driving the truck, organizing the people, negotiating with the Captain, basically holding up a huge amount of responsibility for someone who is supposedly unable to file or type. I loved that implicit understanding of teamwork early on. Even though it was mostly Doyle Cordy show, I always thought it was one of the first episodes(pre vision) where you see her taking the mission seriously, for her own reasons. I mention this because we see Cordy becoming, for lack of a better word: worthy. Worthy of affection.
Still, my favorites from S1 are breakfast at the end of 'Parting Gifts' eating eggs and inviting Wes to join. The first of the little family. Angel cooking for her is *so* an act of gratitude and a sign of affection. I could see her yammering on for hours, Angel taking in, (he gets hooked on her sense of humor) like television in the background, before she goes home. TSILA bed side, all of it. The Look At Angel when she awakens.

Angel: "Oh."
Cordy: "Yeah."
Angel: "Run."

My favourite A/C moment... :
You're Welcome
CORDELIA
So...
(walks up to Angel)
you feel good?
ANGEL
I do. I just...I kind of feel bad about it.
CORDELIA
My God, you are a piece of work.
ANGEL
I just don't feel like I deserve...
(shrugs)
I mean, all I did was beat up a tiny Texan. It's not like I helped anyone.
(sits on the chair arm)
CORDELIA
Sure you did.
ANGEL
Who?
CORDELIA
Boy, I really do fall for the dumb ones. You know how you're always trying to save, oh, every single person in the world? Did it ever occur to you you were one of them?
ANGEL
No, it never did.
CORDELIA
Well, you made the list, gorgeous. And you needed some help.
ANGEL
And you were the one that helped me.
CORDELIA
I did my part.
(sits beside Angel)
ANGEL
Lindsey wasted a lot of energy trying to make me doubt myself. I know it's not even close to over, but I do feel like I can do this. Wolfram & Hart, whatever's coming, I feel like we can beat it.
CORDELIA
I know.
ANGEL
You do?
CORDELIA
I always did. I... I just needed you to know it, too.
ANGEL
So all that stuff about the deals with the devil...
CORDELIA
(nods)
Was God's honest truth.
(looks at Angel)
But you're bigger than that. You'll win this in the end.
(stands, steps away)
I, uh... just wish I could be there to see it.
ANGEL
What do you mean? You're not...
CORDELIA
(turns to face Angel)
I can't stay. This isn't me anymore. You can say good-bye to the gang for me, explain everything once you understand.
ANGEL
That's gonna be never.
(walks toward her)
I need you here.
CORDELIA
(with tears in her eyes)
Don't make it hard, Angel. I'm just on a different road... and this is my off-ramp. The Powers That Be owed me one, and I didn't waste it. I got my guy back on track.
ANGEL
Cordy, there's just—
CORDELIA
(touches his face)
We take what we can get, champ, and we do our best with it. I'll be seeing you.
(smiles through her tears, turns to walk out of the office)
(stops, turns around, walks quickly up to Angel)
Oh, what the hell. One for the road?
(kisses Angel, but moments later, the telephone rings)
ANGEL
You know, um... I don't...I don't need to get that.
CORDELIA
(tenderly straightens his tie)
That you have to get.
(Angel walks toward the phone)
Oh... and you're welcome.
ANGEL
(answers the phone)
Hello. Yes, I know. She's... but that's impossible. She's standing right—
(turns to look for Cordelia, but she's not there; he becomes visibly upset)
I'm sorry. Yeah.
(choking up)
When did she die? Did she, um... she never did wake up? I see.
(hangs up, looks out to where Cordelia was standing moments earlier)
Thank you.

I don't even know how I can choose just one cuz there are so many...These are not in any particular order.
1. I first realized that Cordy and Angel were a great idea when in Belonging he offered to rip that director's head off for insulting her.
2. In Dead End when he bought all that food so hee wouldn't have to ask her if she needed anything and she said "I love you". It was friendly, but that smile of his showed it meant more to him.
3. Going backwards to Expecting when he told the bartender that she was "family".
4. Of course in Offspring when she told him she loved him and he freaked out.
5. In "Billy" when Billy's cousin said that Cordy thought Angel was melodramatic...ever notice that Angel always cared about what Cordy thought of him
6. Nothing was better than when Angel bought Cordy those clothes in Disharmony just so she would talk to him again
7. This is not at all the end of the list but of course that final kiss in "You're Welcome"...I cried like a little b**ch.
Ok, I can't take it anymore...I'll have to get back to you on this (sniff) I need a moment...

In the episode Fredless, there are two C/A moments that I really liked.

The other is when she looks him in the eye, and says that she can soothe his ass off.

I watched Disharmony yesterday in syndication. It was fun to see her as the "new" Cordelia for much of the episode, only to revert back to the "old" Cordelia upon seeing all the new clothes Angel bought for her. I also chuckled at her remark about him having a "gay man's taste" in clothing.

I watched Episode #40 today in syndication. I thought it was sweet of Angel to bring all those different kind of sandwiches to Cordelia, because he couldn't remember what she liked. She then says, "I love you." If only she had meant it in a romantic sense, but hey it was a start.

Wasn't that on "Dead End"Lindsay's off ramp (#1)?
In context, it was part of Angel's 'carpet bombing' effort to win Cordelia totally back.
Both characters need each other. Cordy needed Angel to be her champion. Her feelings led her intellect, knowing before she did that the visions and Angel were connected. Angel was addicted to Cordelia like some people on this thread are addicted to extended cable. He just knew his universe was off-kilter without her. HIS FEELINGS: Guilt. Mostly over the visions. Keeping them, even when she knew by this point they were getting harder to overcome, was a kind of sacrifice Angel understood. He respected that kind of strength, and wanted to be close to it. Had to be. It wasn't romantic yet, because romantic love is more structured. In retrospect, by the end of this eppy, the gang all knew that the visions were destroying Cordy. They should've done something.
Question: Does anyone have the handle on what the final 4 episodes were originally supposed to be about? The Pylea arc was a departure - they were setting up something with these visions. That was for sure.l

Something to do with Darla and Lindsey, although I'm not sure anything ever came out about what would've been the final arc other than that Pylea was tacked on at the last minute because the actors were unavailable. (Note to the file: This is what it looked like when that sort of thing happened, which is to say, a train wreck.)
At any rate, it seems unlikely that Cordy and indeed the rest of the Fang Gang would've been much more than background if that had been the case. Remember that with the single exception of "Untouched," they'd been playing the visions for laughs all season long, right up until "Dead End." That's the part that was tacked on, I believe -- although they made a fitful effort at exploring that storyline early in S3.

I don't know....Maybe I'm giving ME too much credit, but I always thought the boardline flippant way the guys treated the visions added to feeling that Cordy struggling to cover up what was happening......and added to their protective/guilt feelings when they realized what was happening.

In That Vision Thing, Angel knew by then that something was up, because he wouldn't leave until Cordelia came out of the bathroom, and proved that she was okay. Later in that episode, there is also that great scene were Cordelia explains that she thought if she didn't have the visions that Angel wouldn't need her around anymore. Angel then reassures Cordelia that even if she didn't have the visions, he'd still need her.

Cordy was noble, but peculiar that way. She was deeply invested in her own purpose to the point of unreason - because, if B-Day was true and Cordy went to the extent that she hit up the Angel Investigations PPO Health Plan for not one, but an ongoing series of CAT scans that showed her brain was being destroyed, the question would become 'who will be Angel's PTB conduit once my brains blow out the back of my skull.' . . .(but not, I'm Cordy and I'm dying. I don't want to die, but don't save me, see, because I want to be your Lassie/car until death do I blow up) but you see? On Angel, everyone gets to own their very own stupid-decision character craft paper set.

Reminds me of when he says I need you back in Season 1 Finale. I think Cangel slowly developed feelings for each other and if you watch you can see So many moments that show them both falling for each other.
I haven't even seen all the episodes of Seasons 1 and 2 but just reading scripts and the episodes I have seen it's obvious they were falling in love all along.
I also think Angel and Cordy were in love from the beginning, it just had developed slowly. But it could be seen all the time that they were very important to each other.

O.K I know it sounds strange but I wanted C/A way back in BTVS S1, I know at that time for most it was all about B/A (gag), but I never liked B/A as a couple. For me one of the first times I was sure Cordy and Angel should have been together (even though I wanted them together from the first time she spotted him at the Bronze - see said i wanted them together way back): Angel is waiting for Buffy at the Bronze (she is late) and Cordy is waiting for Devon. She goes to Angel and she ends up making him laugh. that is one of the only times I remember him laughing during BTVS years. And if we fast forward to ATS I seen the potential from the first episode (either potential or wishful thinking).
